Glenn Hauser logs October 13, 2013

** ALGERIA [non]. 9535, Oct 13 at 0502, RTA via FRANCE, mostly in Arabic Qur`an, at certain hourtops switches to news in French, all about Africa now; good signal and not // 7295 which stays with another relay in Arabic (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BANGLADESH. 15505, Oct 13 at *1356:45 JBA carrier on from BB; IS plays a bit past 1400 until off-timesignal ending at 1400:10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Oct 13 at 0509, RHC is off; earlier at 0128, 6000 was carrying CRI English instead of Habana but that had been fixed by a sesquihour later. Now the other four overkill English frequencies remain on.

Stop press! The 2014 pocket calendar from RHC will exhibit a photo of a mural in Spain of Simón Bolívar and a quotation from him, as announced on RHC Spanish Oct 13. I still think he would be overrolling in his grave if he knew he had become a darling of the Commies (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 13575, Oct 13 at 1230, CRI with nice Chinese pop songs, announced in Russian, but selective fading distortion, 500 kW, 308 degrees from Urumqi, until I reluctantly tune over to RHC for the rest of `Cuba Campesina` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GERMANY. 15350, Oct 13 at 1313, very poor signal, presumably Nepali from Gospel for Asia via Nauen on scheduled frequency, and still nothing heard on 21600 since that one occasion Oct 8. 1315 switching to apparent Hindi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 630, Oct 13 at 1159 UT, ``Somos Radio México, Monterrey``, i.e. XEFB, that being their group rather than specific slogan. Oops, I see XEFB is missing from the 2012 IRCA Mexican log; hope they got it in the 2013 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 850, Oct 13 at 1220 UT, ``Milenio Radio, 103.7, éxitos de todos los tiempos``, then Elvis` Love Me Tender (in English), i.e. from XEM Chihuahua city, easy with KOA nulled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 1060, Oct 13 at 1206 UT, Radio Educación ID amid heavy CCI, mainly from KIJN Farwell TX, the cheating 10 kW all-night ``daytime`` gospel-huxter on the NM border, playing praise music in Spanish, and also easily recognizable by the fast SAH it makes with anything else. When that`s nulled, XEEP confronts KGFX opposite from SD; see U S A.

Lucky XEEP in the DF is now the only Mexican left with a nationally clear channel on MW, 100/20 kW, but does little good up here. (XEB 1220 now confronts a daytimer in Saltillo). They ought to upgrade their SW to fulltime, high power, and preferably better frequencies than 6185; that`ll never happen (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1180, Oct 13 at 0559 UT, full ID for XEDCH and its FM; hardly any R. Rebelde problem, but instead from KFAQ Tulsa 1183 IBOC noise, and KZOT 1180 Nebraska, but the latter can be nulled. Yes, XEDCH is the call I heard instead of as in current Cantú:
1180 XEJK Ke buena + FM 95.3 Cd. Delicias, Chih. 5,000 1,500

IRCA Mexican Log 2012 does list it as XEDCH, 5000/250 watts // XHDCH 95.3. WRTH 2013 splits the difference with XEDCH, 5000/1500 watts. All agree on the Ke Buena slogan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. KGYN 1210 inaudible again: see USA: KUBR log
WBBZ 1230 possibly with Coast to Coast? see UNIDENTIFIED

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1690 monitoring: confirmed on WTWW-1 5830, starting at 0401:32 UT Sunday October 13. Hope modulation continued for at least a semihour as after 0500 it was dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, Oct 13 at 0510, WTWW-1 is open carrier/dead air; WTWW-2, 5085 is OK with BS. Next check at 1152, 5830 is off the air (propagation OK with 5935 WWCR blasting in). By 1307, all three WTWWs are on and modulating, 9479, 9930 and 12105 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1060, Oct 13 at 1206 UT after an ID from R. Educación in Mexico City, it`s losing out to weather from KGFX, 10/1 kW in Pierre SD. Must be pre-sunrise there as it is here (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1210, Oct 13 at 0603 UT, Mexican praise music, with KGYN OK inaudible again, back on proper night pattern for a change?? 0604, lengthy IDs pronounced in English for network of stations starting with KUBR 1210, and going as far as Deming NM, including FM translators (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1230, Oct 13 at 0608 UT, `Coast to Coast AM` opening hour with usual phone-numbers, is slightly atop the graveyard pileup. Hard to get a bearing, but seems NNE/SSW give or take. Could it be my nearest 1230, WBBZ Ponca City OK, normally buried at night? So I start checking this and other possible states to the north and south on the C2C affiliate list website. NO 1230s listed in: OK, ND, SD, WY, NE, MO, KS, IA, TN, MS, LA. So that leaves these possibilities:

KWTX Waco TX, KBTM Jonesboro AR, WJBC Bloomington IL, KTRF Thief River Falls MN, KWNO Winona MN, KEXO Grand Junxion CO --- any of which would be a good graveyard catch. But I suppose it could still be WBBZ as own website does not account for anything in the overnight hours:
http://www.wbbz.com/schedule.htm
Sometime I should try their webcast after midnite
(Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
