** INDIA. 11985 & 11740, Oct 14 at 0059, AIR is back to its old trix: the two channels supposed to be // with Sinhala service at 0045-0115 are totally separate again: 11985 playing AIR IS, 0100 announcement, presumed really opening Sindhi service, which is their only language scheduled to start at 0100, but supposed to be only on 5990 Khampur, 7370 Kingsway, 9635 Bengaluru, per Aoki. (I am getting traces of it again on 5990 after CRI/Cuba closes; 9635 blocked by QRDRM from Costa Rica). Maybe one of these nights I will be able to match the 11985 diversion to one of them.
11740, meanwhile, at 0059 is playing other music, presumably the real Sinhala service, and at 0101 the two are playing very different music. At 0111, 11985 is in talk, 11740 music. This date, 11985 is a bit stronger, via Khampur than 11740 is via GOA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** IRAN. 12081.64 approx. and wavering slightly, Oct 14 at 0114, VIRI Arabic via Zahedan is off-frequency again, very poor, with Qur`an? 24 hours earlier it was back on 12080.0 but the fix obviously was not permanent; previously on 12081.5, Oct 11 at 2017. Everyone has a very long span to try it, 1620-0520 scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO [and non]. 620, Oct 14 at 1201 UT, segué from norteña music to national anthem --- this is really a fine piece of music and I don`t tire of hearing it, especially this orchestral rendition, yet multi-verse so you never know when the final cadence will really end it, and so you don`t have to hear the bloodthirsty war-mongering lyrix.
1205 segué to also fine Chihuahua state anthem, this with lyrix by baritone. 1206 full ID by SHVA for La Norteñita, XEBU 91.7 and 620 with 25 kW, ``llegando a Ud. en alta definición`` --- really? Maybe IBOC on FM? Never hear the noise around it on AM, unlike from KMIK 620 The Metroplex, which this habitually dominates on sunrise skip (and much of the night as well).
(Not sure if KMIK is IBOC at nite, as no problem with 610 and 630 signals; in daytime KMIK colludes with KWPN 640 Moore OK to IBOCize everything from 610 to 660; BTW, on 640 you`re more likely to hear an ID with its ex-call WWLS, now applying to 98.1.)
The 25 kW presumably applies to 91.7, as 620 power is listed as 5/1 kW in WRTH, 10/1 kW in IRCA, and Cantú:
620 XEBU La Norteñita + FM 91.7 Chihuahua, Chih. 5,000 1,000
Thanks to non-direxionality and southern-advantage, even if really running 1 kW at night, XEBU is the dominant 620 here, as we`re in a `hole` among US stations, all of the nearest ones with nulls more or less toward OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6965-AM, Oct 14 at 0102, very poor with weak talk, conversation with laughter, 0109 music, 0120 talk. Numerous reports on hfunderground say it`s Radio Free Whatever, from *0006 to 0144* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-RCUSB, Oct 14 at 0103 old Italian tunes, first one reminds me of ``Funiculì, Funiculà``, fair signal; 0105 story about mama bear and papa bear, stereotypical Italian-accented English; 0120 another traditional Italian novelty song. What else but Radio Paisano on Columbus Day [non], as per several logs on HF Underground, said to be on the air once a year. No one contradicted the initial log as on ``6925-AM`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 9775, Oct 14 a few chex after 0100, no show again from Radio YHWH, as heard six nights ago only; maybe better luck after a week on UT Tuesday 15? Or not: Ron Howard upon Asilomar State Beach, California, did catch ``Station YHWH`` at 0139-0220 Oct 14 on 3234.95, ``with countless mentions of "Yahweh"; anti-Christian and anti-Catholic``. So a full bandscan is necessary to find it; at least the favorite time is around 0100-0220+ (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1120, Oct 13 circa 1845 UT on caradio, and any other daytime, KEOR Catoosa/Tulsa (really Sperry site), now has enough signal to believe it is really running 7 kW as called for in its CP, ex-2 kW: respectable but of course always weaker signal compared to 50 kW KFAQ 1170, R. Victoria with its Spanish praise music and preaching. Also seems reliably on the air now after months of sporadicity. And have not heard this daytimer for sure lately at night vs KMOX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1210, Oct 13 circa 1845 UT on caradio, no signal audible from KGYN Guymon, which normally reaches Enid on groundwave. Also on DX-398 at home after 0500 Oct 14, still can`t hear KGYN, so if on the air at all, must be keeping to night pattern also in day, null toward Philadelphia and Enid. Finally at 1214 UT Oct 14 I can barely hear it with adstring, 1216 KGYN weather, 1216 ``US Country``. Whatever signal they have is now getting an SRS boost (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 5980, Oct 14 at 0050, R. Chaski carrier, until cutoff at 0101:02* which is 5.5 seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 4840, UT Monday Oct 14 at 0400, WWCR is still running `The Talking Machine Show`, Phil Patton doing his Marion`s-Attic thing. No time to listen further now, but wonder if they`re still rerunning the same episode heard weeks ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. Strange propagation Oct 14 at 0527: the ~6 MHz Tennesseans which normally blast in, WWCR on 5935, 5890, and WTWW on 5830, are very weak as the MUF over this short 1-megameter path is somewhere around 5.5 MHz, since WTWW 5085 and WWCR 4840 are still inbooming (plus of course WWCR 3215 and WWRB 3185 which hardly ever are degraded).
Yet further signals are not affected at all, even enhanced: 5875 BBC, 5910 Colombia, 5980 Vatican (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic carrier search Oct 14 at 0052-0056 UT: JBA on 882, 945, 1053, 1215 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 4960, Oct 14 at 0057, open AM carrier, poor signal with some hum, but stronger than anything on 4955 (Perú) or 4965 (Brasil?). Normally nothing here and nothing scheduled; certainly will not list-log it as long-defunct Federación Shuar, Ecuador as still in Aoki. If not a ute, could be VOA São Tomé with an advance transmitter check before *0400 usual start, typical IBB behavior (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 13364-USB, Oct 14 at 0111, 2-way in Spanish, whistling. I`m frequently checking 13362-13364 area for AFN Guam on USB, or LTA Argentina on LSB, and usually hear nothing.
Another one to check is 12365-USB, Tuesday Oct 15 after 2100, when a Chilean fútbol relay is expected as heard in S America on a few other recent dates (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
This report dispatched at 1534 UT Oct 14
