** CUBA. 15370, July 26 at 2250, RHC Spanish is overmodulated & distorted.
// 11670 is worst by far, also splattering out some 25-30 kHz both sides. //
11760 is a little better with less splatter. // 13740 is undermodulated, in this
case a blessing. // 11840 is about right.
11880, July 26 at 2300, RHC
English with OK modulation, ``Ed Newman`` opening for the 26 of July, 53rd
anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison initiating the Revolution,
pointing out that 25 & 27 July are also holidays in Cuba for workers, except
the media which keep on going. 2303 into ``news`` co-presented by ``Rita
Moreno`` (no, not *THAT* Rita Moreno; this one also speaks better English than
the other YL they use.)
OMG, searching my archive, it`s been *two years*
since I last uttered, ``PATRIA O SUERTE, ¡PENSAREMOS!`` --- a parody of the
Cuban Commie Motto, as in DXLD 14-31 for that year`s 26 of July. Before then I
had said it at least once a year, sometimes multiply, since 2004y, but missed
2015, sorry!

I
renew my challenge for anyone to scrawl it on a wall or public place anywhere
inside Cuba, and provide photographic evidence of that. Then my mission shall be
fulfilled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GREECE. 9420, UT
Tuesday July 26 at 2357, ERT with dead air at S8, but nothing on 9935. Must be
warming up for VOG broadcast from 0000 July 27 --- but some nights it`s still
missing. Recheck at 0021, Greek music on 9420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** U S A. 5896.50-USB, UT Wed July 27 at 0011, a MARS-like net
including one AAT6## callsign mentioned; but then in contact are NCS307 and
stronger NCS104, the latter spelt fonetikaly so certain; one asked the other to
call for additional check-ins for the Region 6 Shares Net: none heard by him;
then it`s NCS308 saying stand by for an NC62(?) broadcast, followed within a
minute by digital racket. This may explain why WWCR-4 doesn`t come up any
earlier than 0200 on 5890.
Of the 71,750 posts so far on the UDXF yg by
3688 members, the only hits on 5896.5 have something to do with Russia. SHARES,
however, is widely reported on other frequencies.
Some searching on
SHARES and the callsigns leads to:
NO LINK:
BINGO:
``The
SHAred RESources (SHARES) High Frequency (HF) Radio program, administered by the
Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Coordinating Center for
Communications (NCC), provides an additional means for users with a national
security and emergency preparedness mission to communicate when landline and
cellular communications are unavailable. SHARES members use existing HF radio
resources to coordinate and transmit messages needed to perform critical
functions, including those areas related to leadership, safety, maintenance of
law and order, finance, and public health.
SHARES HF Interoperability
Working Group
The SHAred RESources (SHARES) High Frequency (HF) Radio
Program Interoperability Working Group (IWG) provides the national
security/emergency preparedness (NS/EP) community a forum for addressing issues
affecting HF radio interoperability. The SHARES HF IWG, made up of 143 members
representing 110 organizations, conducts HF technical reviews, provides
regulatory guidance and direction for administration of the SHARES network, and
promotes awareness of new HF radio technologies. The SHARES HF IWG meets on a
monthly basis, typically on the last Friday of each month. The SHARES HF IWG
also fosters interoperability of NS/EP HF radio systems through examination of
regulatory, procedural, and technical issues`` --- and much more.
But of
course, searching that site gets no hits on the frequency or callsigns I heard
either (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO

** U S A. 7489.97, UT Wed July 27 at 0001, WBCQ surprises with
`Dead Frog Radio`, the prisoner host ``f*c*i*g glad to be back on the radio``,
show with ``stupid stuff, very very autistic, fake news, to entertain, amuse and
offend``; and says music here is some that he can`t hear any other way in
prison. This is the show which had been airing UT Sundays at 0400 on same WBCQ,
but which I missed this week. If he`s not putting us on about being in prison,
having his own ``free speech`` show on shortwave must be a great way to feel a
little less confined! After discovering this myself, find a post from Larry
Will, WBCQ webmaster to the DXLD yg:
```WBCQ Schedule Changes --- From
Robert at master control:
Greetings from Monticello! 2 changes to 7490
schedule
(1) "Deadfrog Radio" on 7490 is *moving* from Saturday midnight
(i.e. Sunday morning) to Tuesday 8 pm [EDT] (replacing AWWW rerun)
[Check
out this show if you can - He plays very edgy music (like Tenacious D) and has
some very creative skits and fake news --- Definitely *adult* entertainment, and
not for the faint of heart. lw]
(2) "Understand Your Adversary" on 7490
Wednesday 8 pm [EDT] has been *renamed* "Know Your Adversary" --- Thanks,
Robert`
[UT:] Deadfrog Radio is now Wednesday 0000 on 7490; Know Your
Adversary is Thursday 0000 on 7490. Regards, Lw`` (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING
** U S A. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING department: major TV network
newscasts, BBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, are originating from the arenas containing
Democratic and previously Republican national conventions. For ``ambiance``, we
have to put up with the super-loud PA and screaming delegates even during news
items having nothing to do with American politix. If someone is deliberately
mixing the audio at that level, they are incompetent and should be expelled.
If the positioning of the anchors with no barriers between them and the
arena means their own mikes can`t help but pick up that much background noise,
how RUDE to the TV audience! The should do their anchoring from soundproof
studios/booths, anywhere near or far, and could still show the crowd in the
background with a minimum of noise. I can hardly make out what Scott Pelley on
CBS is saying, but David Muir on ABC is free of the noise when not conversing
with someone on the floor (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
