** BRAZIL. 11934.536, July 15 at 0504, Rádio RB2 measured here in its very slow
downward drift, very poor signal with music.
11925.228, July 15 at 0505,
R. Bandeirantes, poor in Portuguese (but better than RB2).
11854.905,
July 15 at 0507, R. Aparecida is a bit stronger than RB2 which is probably
relaying it.
11764.655, July 15 at 0510, SRDA is JBA. Usually can also
detect the carrier even when Cuba is still on 11760.
11815+, July 15 at
0506, R. Brasil Central is missing again. However, it`s still active but
apparently not all-night. Wolfgang Büschel measured it and all the others:
``Check on dark path from Brazil to southern Germany in 2110-2130 UT
slot July 14 reveal: 11764.647, 11815.020, 11854.890, 11925.223, 11934.514 kHz.

** CUBA. 4765, July 15 at
0259, R. Progreso in Spanish is back on tonight after missing last night. What
else might one have heard in its absence? Is R. Rural, Santarém PA, Brasil,
active as in Aoki? Probably not. WRTH had it inactive, but another 4765, R.
Integração as active. Only other 4765 is Tajikistan at 23-20 UT. Sunrise in
Dushanbe is 0014 UT, so westward one might even hear it before Cuba opens at
0030 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA [and non]. 11980,
July 15 at 0501, V. of Turkey weak music suffers from weak Cuban-style pulse
jamming, like some more barely audible against no Martí on 11930. Hypothesis:
one of the jam operators punched in the wrong frequency for his pointless but
destructive mission (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
**
MADAGASCAR. 9480, July 15 at 0457, surprised to catch last minute of MWV in
SPANISH! as La Voz Alegre, postal address in Cuba, S5 until 0458* vs high
Oklahoma storm noise level. 0400 broadcast is of course supposed to be in
English; played back wrong file? Worth checking forthwith, whether earlier hours
jumble languages: supposed to be 00-01 English 9600, 01-02 English 9665, 02-03
Spanish 6190, 03-04 Spanish 6150 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** RUSSIA. 7295, July 15 at 1100, presumed R. Sakha, Yakutsk in
talk S5? below Oklahoma storm noise level of S8, but I do copy a mis-timesignal
ending at 1100:05.5; believe there were 5 mis-pips but maybe 6 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1834
monitoring: confirmed Thursday July 14 at 2100 on WRMI 13695, very good;
strangely, Brother Scare theme played right up until 2100 instead of an ID. Once
again, I keep listening at 2130-2200 for `Blues Radio International`. Bigsig
makes wideband audio feasible. WOR 1834 NOT confirmed Thursday July 14 at 2330
since WBCQ 9330 is off (and so are 7490, 5130). Next:

** U S A. 7489.9-AM, Thu
July 14 at 2330, WBCQ is OFF, so Broad Spectrum Radio`s weekly slot is missed.
Also off is 9330v-CUSB when WORLD OF RADIO should have played. Nor anything
audible on 5129.9-AM, but normally not on air at this time anyway. What`s wrong
at Monticello? Recheck at 0000 UT July 15, all still off, so also missing
Blalock the Blaster on 9330. Next check at 0257 UT July 15, all still off. Note
that WTWW, WEWN, and WRMI have also been missing a lot lately (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 15610, 13830, 12050, July 14 at 2149, ALL
three WEWN transmitters are OFF. Not sure if they ever came back, since tuned in
too late to recheck before wholesale QSY to night channels: UT July 15 at 0000
all of them have signed on: 5810 & 11870 in Spanish, 11520 in English (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7504.997, July 15 at 0257,
WRNO is close to on-frequency, S9+20, and no WBCQ to worry about splattering on
7490, since the latter is off (see separate report).
Also, Ron Howard
heard WRNO`s Chinese segment the night before at ``0355-0400*, Thursday, July
14. Out-of-date WRNO website does not list this program `Praise for Today`; in
the past was scheduled for Thursday and Saturday 0300-0400`` (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5085, UT Friday July 15 at 0455, WTWW-2 is
off, so no more `Midnight [sic] in the Desert`. 5830 WTWW-1 is also off, nor on
day frequency 9475 which sometimes runs at night. Recheck at 1058 UT July 15,
5830 is still off. Last signal heard from WTWW was dead air on 12105 at 1826
July 14 when both others were also off. July 15 at 1653 when only 9475 would
normally be on, it isn`t. Could this station be crashing due to transmitter,
management/operational, and/or financial problems? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** YEMEN [non]. 11860, July 15 at 1250, Republic of
Yemen Radio with better signal than heard in a long time, S7-S9 with lively ME
music; 1259 ID mentions Yemen at least twice, 1300 continues mostly talk in
Arabic with some musical punxuation. 1402 recheck, now much weaker at S6-S3. If
there was an abrupt fall due to a site switch circa 1400, I missed it. Presumed
primarily via SAUDI ARABIA but never confirmed without doubt. Hope the improved
signal circa 1300 continue. In case they ever resume breaking for sunset
Qur`aning, gaisma.com shows currently SS is 1538 in Sana`a; 1530 in `Adan (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 7656-USB, July 15 at 0515,
JBA talk, too weak to detect language or decide whether it`s 2-way or a
broadcast, both being possible in this area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
