** BRAZIL [and non]. Oct 16 between 2219 and 2245, I measure a number of mostly
quite weak ZY frequencies on the NRD-545 --- not as precisely as I would like,
as I have to adjust for a warmup (?) factor; at first it was dead on WWV, but
then reading about 25 Hz low. So still consider the last digit quite
approximate:
9724.075, R. RB2
9819.365, R. 9 de Julho
11815.065, R.
Brasil Central
11856.265, R. Aparecida
11915.095, R. Gaúcha --- tough
to sort this out from another off-frequency, 11915.065, with Qur`an, presumably
BSKSA Saudi Arabia. Here`s where the NRD-545 shines: with tightened variable
bandwidth, LSB/USB and passband tuning, I can pick audio from one or the other.
In AM mode they make weak het with each other
11925.015, JBA carrier ---
I`m NOT assuming this is R. Bandeirantes, and still nothing on 9645v. Only thing
scheduled is CNR1 Lingshi
11934.945, R. RB2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 10000.00, Oct 16 at 2250, Observatório Nacional with
Brazilian timechex every 10 seconds and pips; weak but clearly audible under WWV
which conveniently for the next couple minutes is not intoning. PPE time is
exactly synchronized with WWV. Can also tell that O.N. is USB only (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGESET)
** COLOMBIA. 5910, Oct 16 at 0547,
striking to hear the ``Revolutionary Étude`` of Chopin, so is it the Polish
service of TWR via Austria which is also on 5910 during this quarter-hour
weekdays?? No, music continues into a tropicalized, jazzed-up version with
lyrix. Poor-fair signal; 0551 break audiblizes hum, then ID with music bed for
``Alcaraván Radio, 1530 kHz AM, HKV82 [listed in WRTH for 1530, not 5910, but I
thought they said -88], desde Puerto Lleras, Colombia, Alcaraván Radio, emisora
----`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EQUATORIAL GUINEA.
5005+, Oct 16 at 0540, JBA carrier, slightly on hi side. Checked after Stig
Hartvig Nielsen`s HCDX report from Denmark that R. Bata has been signing on
around 0500, i.e. Oct 13 at tune in 0505 on 5005.02, and about the same time
next mornings, 5005.05 on Oct 16. For him, it starts fading out around 0515 and
is lost by 0545. So I must try closer to 0500 UT subsequently.
Other
recent reports of the reactivated Bata are as early as 0425, which would be
propagationally better for all concerned, and on the low side, 5004.9. I see
some spellings as Batá, but not so in atlases. Based on monitoring in the
evenings, when SHN can`t hear it, Arthur Miller in Wales says in Communication
of the British DX Club that the 5005 station he heard Sept 24 was R. Malabo but
after mentioning Bata, Malabo went off at 2058, and another weaker signal came
on 5005 at 2102, leading him to suspect that both stations are sharing 5005. I
also frequently check the old Malabo frequency, 6250, last heard in May 2011 per
DSWCI DBS, in case it be reactivated (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** NIGERIA. 9689.9, Oct 16 at 0553, VON already on with hilife
music prélude, good signal, and // 7255- also on low side; 0555 music stops, JBM
YL ID(?), dead air; 0556 more music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 800, Oct 16 at 0557 UT, checking whether I can pull
PJB past KQCV OKC, the latter IDs as ``now also at 95.7 and 102.3 FM``, and
into `Mission Network News`. NRC AM Log 2015-2016 mentions no FM // for 800.
(Its real sibling FM is 95.1, but separately programmed.) Per WTFDA FM database,
the KQCV re-Botts are:
95.7: K239BT, The Village [NW OKC suburb, where I
once lived], 250 W, totally blocked here by KXLS Lahoma/Enid
102.3: K272FD,
Del City, SE OKC suburb, 215 watts [NOT ``Dell`` City as in WTFDA; but there is
a Dill City elsewhere in OK], vs full-power 102.3s in Tulsa and Woodward (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SAUDI ARABIA. 9555.00, Oct 16 at
2216, S9 open carrier/dead air, presumably 500 kW BSKSA Riyadh as scheduled
until 2300 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [and
non]. 17765 & 17610, Oct 16 after 1900, Brother Scare is on both these 16m
WHRI frequencies, 17765 blasting in. 7490, Oct 16 at 2200, after `Behaviour
Night` = old records on WBCQ, up comes Brother Scare, at a surprise time for me,
but he is now scheduled for one hour only then Monday-Friday. 9505 has more BS
at 2215, 40 over 9, from WHRI which replaced 11775 on Sept 6 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SPAIN. 17710, Oct 16 at 1900 with accurate
timesignal, REE is here // much stronger 17855, and also audible on 15490 and
much weaker 15450. Last week I ``corrected`` another log of this in the NASWA
Flashsheet on 17710 (by John Cooper, PA, already 28 September), saying ``it`s on
17715`` --- which it was when last I heard it, and still registered as such in
HFCC (also EiBi, Aoki), but they have moved, who knows why. So correct my
correxion! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF
RADIO 1795 monitoring: confirmed Friday October 16 at 2130 on WRMI 15770, and
2130.5 or so on 7570; however, the automation must be misaligned, as the times
are slightly off, the IDs curtailed or overlapped, as is the WOR opening. Now
7570 has a better signal here than 15770. Also confirmed Oct 16 at 2330 on WRMI
5850, after having missed airing that time last week. Next:

** U S A. 5830, Oct 16 at
0541, after a few days silence, WTWW-1 is finally back on with PPPP, only fair
signal here, while WTWW-2 with Art Bell is very good, below the MUF. Day
frequency of WTWW-1, 9475, is also on at 1426 Oct 16 check (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DXL ISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17775.35 approx., Oct 16 at 1858, KVOH is
off-frequency here too, like 9975v; usually I`m not using the NRD-545 before its
1900 sign-off, where it`s easily measured (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 1510, Oct 16 at 2254 UT, dominant signal from east/west
is in Spanish, canned ID by super-hype voice actor as ``La Ke Buena 15-10 AM``;
WLAC Nashville is starting to fade up underneath this. After next song another
ID at 2257, ``La Ke Buena, la que toca pura buena``; 2300 UT as losing out to
WLAC with Fox ``news``, TOH ID as WQQW (letters pronounced in English), i.e.
Highland IL, 1 kW daytimer near St Louis MO, conveniently direxional
southwestward. Official October sundown will be 2315 UT until sunrise 1200 UT
(November: 2245 UT to 1245 UT). Yes, it`s a sibling station to KQQZ 1190, KZQZ
1430 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
