Glenn Hauser logs January 21-22, 2016

** BRAZIL. Correxion: 4894.92, NOT typo 4892.92. Tnx to Thomas Nilsson for catching this:

4894.92, Jan 21 at 0632, very poor signal with music vs CODAR, the exact offset previously logged for R. Novo Tempo, Campo Grande MS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Jan 22 at 1258 check, RHC back on correct frequency after deviation to 5990 yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 810, Jan 22 at 1308 UT, long talk about the PRI and Tamaulipas, each mentioned several times, elexion coming 5 de junio; 1313 fade. This time I tentatively think it`s XEFW Tampico on 50 kW day power by now, instead of 100 watt XERI Reynosa, which I definitely heard in the nightmiddle. Altho Neil Kazaross says XERI was already announcing 5 kW (day anyway) a year ago despite later listings as 1 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1400, Jan 21 at 1934 UT on caradio, surprised to be getting KREF Norman past local splasher 1390 KCRC, mentioning Pauls Valley, town further beyond Norman. Is successor to onetime WORLD OF RADIO affiliate KNOR (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 7325-, Jan 22 at 1257 tuned in barely in time before *1258 CRI came back on, but no sign of Wantok Radio Light for the second day. Ron Howard, San Francisco, California replies about yesterday`s non-log:

``Hi Glenn, Earlier on Jan 21 (0808-0830) was listening to WRL with a poor signal, but certain was them on 7324.94. Jan 22 at 1406, just as you noted 24 hours earlier, WRL clearly off the air; no hint of a carrier. Gone again after a brief come-back?`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH AFRICA. 11750, Jan 22 at 2046, fair S8 signal sounds sorta Swahilish, but registered as Yoruba, AWR via Meyerton at 2030-2100, 250 kW, 328 degrees also USward. Stands out in the absence of 11735 Zanzibar (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TIBET [non]. 11512, Jan 22 at 1350, JBA carrier from presumed V. of Tibet, TAJIKISTAN, and again no jammer carriers audible on 11510 or 11515, same still at 1401, but at 1419 has shifted to 11517 and now there is an ineffective jamcar on 11510.

As in Ivo`s schedules, I also check for 12+ MHz VOT channels: 12013, Jan 22 at 1351, JBA carrier vs RTTY always on 12015 which covers up a jammer, if any. By 1401, 12013 is off while 11512 is still on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1809 monitoring: not aired Thursday Jan 21 at 2100 on WRMI 7570; instead, music fill from before the hour continued. Terry Elders at the Okeechobee site explains, ``Yes Sir, It was off today, unfortunately we have had some severe storms and some of our automation has been affected``. The UT Fri 0200 WOR broadcast on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB was confirmed at 0225 check, only poor signal this week. Also confirmed Friday Jan 22 at 2130 on WRMI 15770, but a very weak signal; also Fri Jan 22, 2130.5 on WRMI 7570 with a good signal. Next:
Sat 0730   HLR 7265-CUSB to SW
Sat 1530   HLR 7265-CUSB to SW

Sun 0410v  WA0RCR 1860-AM ND?
Sun 0900   WRMI 5850 to NW
Mon 0400v  WBCQ 5110v-CUSB Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0430.6 WRMI 9955 to SSE

** U S A. 12105, Jan 21 at 2032, WTWW-3 is off. Jan 22 at 2040, it`s not off, in Spanish Bibling (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 11550, Jan 22 at 1429 open carrier/dead air from WEWN Spanish. I leave the aux FRG-7 receiver on this while listening to YEMEN [non] and KOSU. Not until 1453:40 does papal palaver cut on 11550, while // 12050 has already been relaying R. Vaticano since 1430, starting with ``Laudetur Iesus Christus``.

Tsk2, 11550 a lot stronger here than 12050, with respective azimuths of 220 and 155 degrees, each nominally 250 kW per original B15 FCC schedule, which has not been updated since posting dated 10 November, thus missing recent changes such as adding 5015 for WRMI. When consulting via this link, change 01 to 02 in case they ever modify it:

** U S A. 830, Jan 21 at 1931 UT, WCCO Minneapolis MN is making it on daytime skywave, but faded out a few minutes later at 1937 UT check. 720, WGN Chicago is also heard at 1932 UT and still continues past 1937 UT. These are in the 1-megamter range. Nothing unusual at the hi end of band, altho at midband, 1040, WHO closer Des Moines IA is also making it with Rush atop the Metroplex station SAH.

Which reminds me I haven`t deliberately logged 1040 KGGR Dallas under its latest call change, daytimer 3300/PSRA 500/CH 2800 watts which has a remnant signal here by groundwave (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Jan 22 around 1340, R. Sana`a builds up to its usual post-sunrise good signal level; is it really from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, far surpassing any other ME signal such as Iran on 11675, 11730, Turkey on 12035? Yet this 24-hour service, whenever I check at other dayparts in our afternoons, evenings, or late night, 11860 is inaudible or maybe source of a JBA carrier. Of course all these are on different azimuths, powers and antenna types. It`s also way over Kuwait which is co-channel from 1430, virtually blotted except when Sana`a programming pauses as during Maghrib sunset calls to prayer, which today I time interrupting other musical programming at 1454:22.5, which is only *3.5* seconds later than yesterday at 1454:19, and 6 seconds *earlier* than anteyesterday at 1454.28.5. Calculated sunsets today are 1456 UT in Sana`a, 1457 in Aden. Will sunsets reach 1500 before the station catches up? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ZANZIBAR. 11735, Jan 22 at 2046, no signal already from ZBC, so must have been an early cut-off night (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
