** ALBANIA. 7465-, Jan 24 at 0227, R. Tirana IS, about S8, a little better than
last night. But 0230 sign-on is lower modulation and hard to copy. I can tell
that she has fixed the time on the earlier English to correct 2100-2130 instead
of ``2100-2030`` on 7465; but there`s a fade when she`s giving the frequency for
this 0230 broadcast, we hope changed from 7470 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** BOLIVIA [and non]. 6134.8, Jan 24 at 0235, humbuzz with no
discernible program modulation, as the R. Santa Cruz transmitter is apparently
out of order. It`s about S8, while R. Aparecida is JBA at S8 on 6135.2 and can`t
make out modulation from it either.
Wolfgang Büschel already noted this
problem 6 nights ago: ``6134.812, ONLY BUZZY CARRIER - 0648 and 0715 UT Jan 18,
S=7, Radio Santa Cruz Bolivia TX on air? wb`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CANADA. 900, Jan 24 at 0251 UT, monolog about goal tenders,
team formerly with AHL, now at First Ontario Center, recap of a ``fun hockey``
game tonight. Surely 50 kW CHML Hamilton. Its night pattern has a notch toward
us, so not normally audible. Could it be non-direxional for benefit of winter
storm? But heavy snow there no big deal. Maybe just VG conditions from the east
tonight (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 4765, Jan 24 at
0239, NO signal from R. Progreso, competing with 6185 Mexico for unexpected
silence (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 11845, Jan 23 at
0434, weak pulse jamming vs nothing, a Cuban unit which hasn`t been needed since
the A-11 season, when R. Martí quit using this frequency at any hour, and never
at night!
5955, Jan 24 at 0213, weak pulse jamming against nothing,
another leftover from even longer ago than on 11845, when there was Radio
República on 5954v via Costa Rica(?). The ever-vigilant DentroCuban Jamming
Command is all set for a comeback!! Now it QRMs poor Radio Pio XII, Bolivia, on
5952.5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO. 6185-, Jan 24
at 0234, NO signal from XEPPM, R. Educación. Hope this is only temporary! That
means essentially nothing above 6175 Vietnam-UK on 49m at this hour (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NETHERLANDS [non]. 6040, Jan 24 at
0221, The Mighty KBC going into Kim with VOA Radiogram; S9+15, but constant het
on hi side from Brasil 6040.4 or so. I can eliminate it by LSB tuning, bandwidth
3 kHz or less, passband shifted to lo side. I wonder what the ``tone`` does to
Radiogram decoding otherwise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

NEWFOUNDLAND. Re: ``2598-USB, Jan 23 at 0101, YL in English with weather, S8-S9.
Canadian CG site shows starting at 0048 is MCTS Placentia / VCP, with
``Radiotelephony --- Technical marine synopsis, forecasts and wave height
forecasts for marine areas 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237 and 238. Weather
and Wave height forecasts for marine area 213``. In a few minutes at 0107 it
must cede the frequency to VOK Labrador via St Anthony.``
I should add
that the site for this particular VCP broadcast is: St. Lawrence, island of
Newfoundland (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA.
6930-USB, Jan 24 at 0224, pirate music, but stops at 0225 and some talk I can`t
make out; nothing further during next semihour nor any other pirates noted this
Saturday night. Three other logs of it as unID; I did not find it to be
Spanish:

** OKLAHOMA. 960, UT Sun Jan 24 UT at
0249 on the way to 900 CHML, I notice that local KGWA is running `Our Miss
Brooks` oldtime radio featuring Mr. Conklin. Checking website http://kgwanews.com I find a
contradixion:
``ON AIR NOW --- Tom Torbjorsen 8:00pm - 10:00pm America’s
Car Show``
He`s also on the very disorganized ``LINEUP`` at
and nothing
about OMB (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 6080, Jan
23 at 0555, VOA Greenville with weekend rock music instead of news magazine,
still operational with VG signal, despite widespread power outages in NC. Does
GB have full generator backup capability? IIRC they do depend on local power
grid normally (and defunct Greenville-A was deliberately on a different one)
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF
RADIO 1809 monitoring: Nino Marabello in Treviso, Italy gave the Sat 0729
broadcast on HLR 7265-CUSB a SINPO of 15522. Checking the 1530 Sat Jan 23
broadcast from Hamburger Lokalradio, 7265-CUSB, on UTwente remote at 1557 I can
barely make out somebody with intonation like mine, under China Radio
International. Next:
Sun 0410v WA0RCR 1860-AM ND? [was good signal here 2
hours earlier]
Sun 0900 WRMI 5850 to NW
Mon 0400v WBCQ 5110v-CUSB Area
51 to WSW
Mon 0430.6 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 1200 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed
1415.6 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2200 WBCQ 7490v to WSW

** U S A. 3185 & 3195, Jan 24 at 0217, WWRB is back
on after missing from all frequencies 25 hours earlier; 3185 with BS of course,
and 3195 with non-Dave preacher (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. I`m hearing WRVA 1140 Richmond VA from 0247 UT Sunday
Jan 24 with ``continuing winter storm coverage`` taking callers, dominant over
XEMR. They say this will continue till midnight and resume at 6 AM (ET). Tho I
occasionally hear it, this is unusual; day and night 50 kW patterns are both
unfavorable for here, being NW/SE, so I wonder if they could or would go ND for
the emergency? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. Re: 1340
Springfield MO, KADI Jan 7 log by gh: Glenn, the calls here have been KICK again
since November (David Yocis, NRC DX News Jan 25 via DXLD)
** YEMEN [non].
11860, Jan 23 at 1435, R. Sana`a is mostly talk instead of music; but by 1453
oft-heard triumphal theme; cut to Maghrib call to prayer at 1457:15.5, which is
2:53 later than yesterday at 1454:22.5, finally catching up to the latening
sunset. 1500 back to music instead of usual talk at least on weekdays. IBB
Kuwait can be heard underneath (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 7297-USB, Jan 23 at 1419, very informal ham net on
USB instead of LSB (one must be careful on the R75 as settings may fool one with
one sideband ``folding over`` onto the other). I listen until 1427 and never an
ID. Not an ``over`` either, resulting in numerous talk-overs. Discussing
overkill of something, country living, taxes in Denmark. One is named Glenn
