** ANTARCTICA. 15476, Nov 24 at 2002, no trace of a signal from LRA36. Are they
still inactive? They do seem to be replying to reports with vaguely-worded
thank-yous but without firm confirmation language (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 15370, Nov 24 at 1509, RHC with dead air
except for some hum, ho hum. At 1518, 17730 is OK, 17750 just barely modulated,
and 17580 is off; At 1524, still dead air on 15370, which is supposed to be on
(and modulating) until 1600.
Still out of whack: 15370, Nov 24 at 2003,
RHC closing French service, IS, 2004 opening Brazuguese, VG signal, perhaps
SSOB, even tho allegedly aimed 53 degrees toward Europe with 100 kW from Bauta,
i.e. roughly off the side to here; and the Lusitanians will have to put up with
that corrupted dialect (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
**
MEXICO. 1190, Nov 24 at 0708, as soon as I tune in, clear ID as ``Radio Centro,
11-90 AM``, and into romantic music, loops roughly southwest. None such listed
in WRTH for Mexico or any other Latin American country on 1190. Nor USA in the
NRC AM Log 2015-2016. So a Google search leads to:
There
are a number of posts starting this month that 1190 is ``our new home`` for
various programs that were on Radio Centro 99.1. It may be that for a few months
previous they were simulcasting, but now only on 1190, it seems. One is
hard-pressed to find anything on this FB relating this station to Ciudad Juárez,
as all the locals obviously know where it is. But there is a link to their real
website whose URL remains as if on 99.1:
but
everywhere else it`s branded only as RADIO CENTRO 1190. Altho it appears to be
100% Mexican, part of Grupo Radio México (not Radio Centro [flagship XEQR 1030]
itself), their studio phone number has an El Paso area code! ``Cabina: (915)
229-1991``. Nothing on the Contacto link any closer than that, let alone a
street address in CiJz. Is the studio really across the
frontera??
Anyhow, the 1190 CiJz facility is XEPZ, ex-Radio Norteña per
WRTH 2015, IRCA log 2014-2015, and Cantú as of Feb 2015, with 5000/100 watts
(yeah, sure). Many years ago I visited XEPZ, when it was also an adjunct to some
bigger station, and consisted of little but a record player on a table (Glenn

** NIGERIA. 7254.925 approx., and
9689.925 approx., Nov 24 at 0628, VON Hausa is active on both, and both off to
the lo side; at 0630 there are 5 or 6 breaks in transmission on 9690 while 7255
stays on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA [non]. 12050,
Nov 24 at 2007, WEWN still missing, but algo talk is JBA here, not // 13830
WEWN, and nothing at all on 11830, while 11825 WRMIBS is not a problem.
Therefore, I suspect that Dandal Kura is back on 12050 at 18-21 via ASCENSION
after having been on 11830 since July 1 in A-15. Registered in B-15 for 12050.
Of course, if & when WEWN come back during same span and more, DK might be
driven off 12050 again. Meanwhile, Dandal Kura is easy any night at 05-07 on
7415 Ascension. It`s the US-backed counterweight to Boko Haram (Glenn Hauser,

** SAUDI ARABIA. 15435.11, Nov 24 at 1512,
Arabic, so yet another BSKSA frequency which is off to the hi side; do they have
a bad frequency counter, or what? Can`t pick up WWV over there?
13710.075
approx., ditto Nov 24 at 1523, Arabic with VG signal but not // 15435.11, so one
is HQS, the other General program 1, respectively.
9675.05, Nov 24 at
2015, fair signal at S9 obviously with language lesson, repeating same few words
over and over; finally decide it`s Arabic for Turkish, and that fits as BSKSA
Turkish scheduled at 18-21, 500 kW, 340 degrees from Riyadh, good for us too.

** U S A
[non]. 15579.98 approx., Nov 24 at 1959, VOA introducing ``Making of a Nation,
in Spe-cial Eng-lish``, then patriotic unfamiliar march music, but cut off the
air circa 2000*. Not watching the clock, so not sure whether this happened
before or after 2000:00, but hardly expected it to vanish. Was it really an
outroduxion?
Upon closer earspexion, there is still a JBA carrier on
15580, as 2000 is the time for 100 kW 350 degrees from BOTSWANA to hand VOA over
to 250 kW 193 degrees from VATICAN [standard denunciation], the latter obviously
on a much less favorable azimuth for us. I would have expected some news on the
hour, and `Africa Beat` music used to occupy the 2005-2100 slot; no more? Not
until 2100 will VOA reaudiblize on 15580 when Greenville acquires it for one
hour only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7490.06, Nov
24 at 2021, WBCQ is S9+15, which it can accomplish this early only when wintry,
as it starts as early as 2000 on Tuesdays only for J. P. Ferraro`s `Pirate Joe –
Extravaganzo`, now playing ``Darktown Strutters Ball``, by --- and his
Skillet-Lickers, 78 rpm recorded in Atlanta, 1927y, as outroed; on to
publicizing various TG weekend events in the Poughkeepsie area (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 12105, Nov 24 at 2006 check, WTWW-3,
Bible Worldwide is absent, but not 9475, WTWW-1 with PPPP bitching about a brush
with the Law (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1050, Nov
24 at 0711 UT, with XEG easily nulled, sounds like `Red Eye Radio`, and quickly
confirmed as such by hearing the same anti-American rant some 30 seconds later
on flagship 820 WBAP. I bet it`s Albuquerque NM. Yes: only 1050 affiliate listed
at
is
KTBL, 1/1 kW, the substation to 770 50/50 kW KKOB & 230-watt KKOB Santa Fe,
which *also* carry RER overnight, altho the entire schedules are not duplicated;
why? Just can`t come up with anything better? Or to increase RER ratings in the
market? Or rather, not to *decrease* the ratings on KKOB by self-competition
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGST)
** VATICAN. 15620, Nov 24 at 1515,
SE Asian talk and hymn, with long-path echo --- or not? Echo during the talk,
but during music-only, can`t hear any echo; of course echoes are more obvious in
talk, but still --- if it`s not LP/SP, then they are artificially imposing the
echo/reverb on the modulation to make it sexier. It`s RVA Philippines in
Filipino hour relay via SMG back to the Mideast, 107 degrees, commonly audible
here almost off the back if not front, so will check it again (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** YEMEN [non]. 11860, Nov 24 at 2010, nothing but a
JBA carrier, presumed the Radio Sana`a by the ousted (and exiled?) leader.
Speculation is that site is Riyadh, SAUDI ARABIA, including by a new Tunisian
DXLD yg contributor, to whom Mauno Ritola, Finland, replies ``sanaaradio.net has
commented by email, that this is not official Radio Sanaa transmission. Regards,
Mauno``. To which Wolfgang Büschel replies on Nov 23:
``I never heard
such a p o o r SW radio signal from Riyadh site, or mothballed Jeddah site when
monitored 11860 kHz on various remote SDR sites worldwide in past days. Maybe
one of these LPV log-periodics at Riyadh site is on use, not that powerful
curtain array?
Or the YEM_ALH_Al-Hiswah_SW site_ITU 12°49'43.63"N,
44°54'11.54"E
remain again? Who knows? Who knows the present whereabouts of
former president of Yemen Mr. Ali Abdul Allah Saleh; I guess his whereabouts
remain still secret. Maybe at Aden? 73 wolfy df5sx``.
I compare this
paltry signal again to known Saudi: 11820 BSKSA, in Arabic at S7, 2011 UT Nov
24, and even better a bit later on 9870, 9675; q.v. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
