Jeff and Thais White are seen here with Salim Al
Nomani of the Public Authority for Radio and Television in Oman, where the High
Frequency Coordination Conference (HFCC) took place Feb 1-5. At this meeting,
Jeff was elected the new chairman of the HFCC, taking over from Oldrich Cip (ex
chief engineer of Radio Prague), who had been the HFCC chairman since its
formation in 1990. On the program Wavescan beginning March 1 there will be the
first of several reports from the recent High Frequency Coordination Conference
in Oman. WRMI's Jeff White and WWCR's Jerry Plummer will discuss the shortwave
broadcasting conference, and in upcoming reports on Wavescan during the coming
weeks they will talk with Oldrich Cip, outgoing HFCC Chairman and Salim Al
Nomani of the Public Radio and TV Authority of Oman. A further report will
examine what can be heard on the radio bands in Salalah, southern Oman. (WRMI
