** BRAZIL. 11815 & 11745 & 11710, March 27 at 0530, crackling spurs from
11780.1v RNA/RNB are still audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1560, March 27 at 1834 UT, CBS News Update, ``1520
KOKC`` ID and back to talk show. This is really KEBC Del City, which was
switched to KOKC programming when 1520 went down by tornado; but once KOKC was
back already 18 hours before now, I expected 1560 would resume its own sports
talk programming. Not. Compared on a portable radio to 1520, they are slightly
apart by a reverb. As yet unchecked 1520 at ToH, whether that also dually ID
with KEBC 1560 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ROMANIA.
9730, March 28 at 0051, RRI with ``Autumn Leaves`` instrumental then lyrix in
presumed Romanian, but cut off for Spanish announcement, introducing final piece
in musical segment ``Lemon Tree``, also in Romanian. VG here but rolling fades,
while // 9525 is much weaker. This is contrary to expectations as 9730 is listed
as 247 degrees from Tiganeshti, while 9525 is 280 degrees from Galbeni, much
closer to USward for this 0000-0057 emission; B-14 sked about to be passé (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SUDAN [and non]. 15550, March 27 at
0542, tone jamming against nothing, while weaker signal on 15555 with talk
modulation is presumably R. Dabanga via MADAGASCAR starting at 0430. Ivo Ivanov
had noted the shift from 15550 to 15555 on March 26. Jammer foiled again! This
might also apply to the 1530 UT broadcast. R. Tamazuj, preceding at 0400 &
1500, isn`t always jammed, why? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 7280.0, March 27 at 0545, huge AM signal with VG
modulation too, from W0VMC, Robert, closing QSO with motto ``may the fleas from
a thousand camels fly up your armpits``, some deep fades and selective
distortion which SSB would avoid. Was in contact with KZ9TJE, Tim, weaker but
also AM. W0VMC is stronger than Algeria via France on 7295-AM. QRZ.com
lookups:
W0VMC, Robert M Smith, 661 Polk St Croix Rd, New Richmond, WI
54017.
But there is no KZ9TJE; maybe it was KC9TJE? No fonetix. But she`s a
Jennifer, not a Tim. O well (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17790,
March 27 at 1425, no signal from RAN via WRMI. Should have been audible, like
17730 Cuba, 17775 California, 17840 Romania (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 1150, March 28 at 0031 UT, VG signal with Yahoo Sports
Radio --- surely it`s the typical night coverage of KSAL Salina KS, but not
primarily a sports station. Yes, their schedule for 7-10 pm CDT weekdays just
says ``Yahoo Radio Sports`` --- close. YSR is not among the numerous
affiliations listed for KSAL in the 2014-2015 NRC AM Log (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1370, March 28 at 0043 UT, good signal with
talk show in English, mentions Houston, loops N/S, gone by 0047 UT. Fits for
KJCE Rollingwood (Austin) TX, official sunset 0045 UT in March (0100 in April),
and power decimated from 5000 to 500 watts while pattern reduced from broadly
northward to a bit to the northwest. (Still no sign of my nearest 1370, KGNO
Dodge City KS) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1500,
March 28 at 0035 UT, Spanish sermon from N/S, poor signal, attenuated KSTP no
problem, but other QRM until KSTP fades up at 0041. Monolog sermon from TX
points to KMXO in Merkel as in my March 24 morning log. But where is the
nostalgic 1 kW and closer daytimer KJIM Sherman TX? Its March sunset was 0030 UT
(April: 0100 UT). KMXO, 250 watt daytimer March sunset: 0045 UT (April: 0115 UT)
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1520, March 28 at 0027
UT, the quickly-revived KOKC OKC has heavy SAH and CCI in English from an
inseparable station, presumed KYND Cypress (Houston) TX with CRI relay, 25 kW
daytimer. By 0034 UT when I am still getting CRI via KGBC on 1540, the 1520 is
gone leaving KOKC in the clear, so must have signed off at proper time (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1540, March 28 at 0034 UT,
discussion in English about university studies abroad for Chinese, and with that
familiar Chinese accent we hear from many CRI speakers; so it`s obviously KGBC
Galveston TX, likely still on 2.5 kW day power despite official sunset of 0030
UT (April: 0045 UT). It`s mostly separable from Tejano KEDA San Antonio which
still dominates 1540 here at night contrary to its legal DA pattern. By 0047 UT
I am ready to check for // 9570 via ALBANIA, but no more 1540 CRI, I guess
finally on 250 watt night power (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 1590, March 28 at 0024 UT, ranchera music from NNW/SSE,
or rather gospel since 0027 lyric includes `salvación`. Good signal overcomes
birdie around here impeding daytime reception of KVGB. This points to KMIC
Houston, which as in DXLD 15-04 had converted from Disney to Radio Aleluya. The
hymn is cut off at 0030* UT sharp, which must have been official FCC sunset; no
sign-off, not even a semi-sign-off! Yes, 0030 UT is the March SS; April: 0045
UT. At least, here`s one station which takes its responsibilities seriously,
from ND day to totally direxional SE into the Gulf at night, both 5 kW (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 860, March 27 at 0125 UT,
Spanish talk from the SSW, and Spanish music from the SSE (or opposites,
unlikely), during KKOW fade which is back up at 0126 UT. Plenty of Mexicans on
860, guess one is Monterrey, and there are three in Yucatán and Quintana Roo
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 1120, March 27 at
1834 UT on caradio at local mean noon, I`m getting a very weak SAH, indicating
two carriers interfering. I count it at 30 per 5 seconds = 360/minute = 6 Hz
apart. No DFing possible, but there are really only two possibilities anywhere
near: KMOX St Louis and KTXW Manor/Austin TX. (Remember I was definitely getting
WOAI 1200 in the daytime recently.) Unless KETU Tulsa carrier is still running,
but much attenuated from 10 kW. KLIM Limón CO, 250 W daytimer is still listed
but ``silent since 10/2002``! A bit further out there is also a 10 kW daytimer
in Clinton MS, WTWZ, which would be a fantastic daytime catch (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 11843-USB, March 27 at 1352,
colloquial Spanish 2 way intruders, poor signals, but in the clear past 1400
with nothing AM on 11840 or 11845 --- until R Liberty Russian via PHILIPPINES
comes on 11840 late at *1401 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
