** BRAZIL. 4885, March 3 at 0650, no signal from ZYG362, R. Clube do Pará,
Belém, which had reliably been the best/only Brazilian signal overnight on 60m;
believe it has also been missing for a few nights previous. Is it totally off or
just no longer 24h? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL.
11747 & 11813, March 3 at 0109, crackling spurs from 11780.1v, RNB/RNA are
audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 1610, March 3
at 0124 UT, early/baroque music catches my ear, from the NE/SW, must be CHHA
Toronto, in better than usual.
schedule
shows 8-9 pm ET is still supposed to be Portuguese. At 0127 UT I notice an
especially heavy bass beat strumming, 0129 UT into rap, 0131 UT tones/IS and
English ``CHHA 1610-AM`` ID. At 0655 UT I am again getting a heavy bass beat,
tune recognizable as ``Tristeza não tem fim`` from Orfeu Negro by Jobim. The
12-6 am ET span is merely `Latin Music Mix` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CHINA. 16530, March 3 at 1359 tune-in to a bit of music, and
timesignal to 1400:00, then only carrier, very poor. Must have been CNR1 jammer
against a listed Sound of Hope frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 15865 approx., March 3 at 1416, very
distorted bubbling talk and music, humroar, poor signal, then find exactly same
but weaker sounds around 15845 and 15885, plus and minus 20. Eight(?) pulses
ending about 1430:15, apparent attempt at a timesignal, and music theme, too bad
to be certain it`s Cairo`s, and talk, still at 1439, and 1458 past 1502 when
weaker on all three. Cairo typically plays mistimesignals to open news, even if
scheduled at quarter-hours.
Iran and Pakistan are also capable of such
crap, but I think Cairo is most likely. Nothing scheduled on any of the three,
of course. But Aoki and HFCC have multi-hour Cairo broadcasts nearby: 15790 in
Persian from Abu Zaabal, 15800 in Arabic from Abis. I did not notice any signals
on those, altho I did not know to check them until researched later (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6876-AM, March 3 at
0105, fair signal with song calling upon a mother, more segués, 0109 ``You are
listening to The Crystal Ship on the Crystal Ship relay network``; synth YL with
QSL address, tcsshortwave@gmail.com
and back to music. 0112 unreadable exclamations and off. This broadcast heard as
tipped more than an hour earlier by John Poet`s mailing list. Several more logs
here:

** PERU [non]. 5980, March 3 at 0103,
JBA carrier, so I stand by for a cutoff between 0103:55 and 0104:00 as to be
expected from last check 3 days earlier --- but no change and continues past
0104, so this is BBCWS via UAE, and no sign of R. Chaski. Monitoring
difficultized this time by much stronger Cuban pulse jamming against nothing;
tnx a lot, Arnie! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SPAIN. 15490
& 9620, March 2 at 2119, REE with good signals, much weaker on 11940 and no
12030 or 17755, during `Españoles en la Mar` hour, which is now the prime reason
for being back on SW; this show is not totally nautical, but various magazine
topix for seafarers, or anyone, such as 2155 about a Cuban singer; earlier
repeated ``en la mar`` several times (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SRI LANKA. 11905, March 3 at *0114:11 strong carrier comes on with
flutter, 0114:47 usual musical prélude starts, 0115:20.5 mistimesignal ends and
SLBC ID pronounced in English, opening Bengali or Hindi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** SUDAN [non]. 15400 & 15550, March 3 at 1459, R.
Tamazuj opening via VATICAN with VG signals, clear on 15400 and vs WJHR on
15550, so SMG has successfully connected to programming today, unlike yesterday,
in this de-facto North American service. Let`s hope some signal is also getting
into Sudan and South Sudan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

TIBET [non]. 15525, March 3 at 1408, CNR1 jammer // 9530, poor until cutoff at
1410.4*. Meanwhile, target V. of Tibet via MADAGASCAR is already on 15530,
presumably having jumped as usual at 1407 from initial 15525. After CNR1 cutoff,
not heard on 15530 either, still VOT in clear; gave up? At 1422 I hear a Chinese
``guanbo diantai`` ID on 15530, apparently interjected by VOT, since not // CNR1
15745 jammer, then back to Tibetan. Music at 1426 with non-Chinese announcement,
more music until cut off at 1427:45* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 720, March 3 at
1316 UT, weak Spanish station instead of WGN; phone 618-5921, not certain.
Call-in with host asking each, ``¿qué necesita Vd. esta mañana?`` but couldn`t
copy the replies; wish list for the disadvantaged? Some music earlier and mixed
in, 1320 UT music only; 1324 UT adstring including 379-0437, for an abogado;
think I heard an AC 210; Ford dealer in dólares; briefly WGN CCI makes a last
gasp. 1328 UT, ID with an FM, ``la estación de la raza``. These clues point to a
US, not Mexican source, which would have to be KSAH Universal City (San Antonio)
TX, which is supposedly with ESPN Deportes, but nothing about sports now: maybe
still does local morning general call-in show? Googling on the Raza slogan with
720 leads right to KSAH, also FM 104.1, as here:
ESPN
Deportes affiliate list as of 5 Feb, however, still has KSAH 720
If
it led to Mexico, the candidates would have been XEDE Saltillo and XEJCC Ciudad
Juárez. DF was closer to SSW = San Antonio & Saltillo (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1060, March 3 at 0137 UT, EWTN programming
from NW/SE, about 1 second behind 11520 WEWN. No doubt KRCN Longmont CO: not
totally dominant like last time when obviously on 50 kW ND day power, but too
much for mere 111 watt night power either; usual LAHs from off-frequencies XERDO
and KIJN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1680, March 3
at 0653 UT, the rapid SAH I hear against dominant KRJO Monroe LA music has
finally become strong enough to copy with KRJO nulled: discussion in English
about job retraining. 0700 UT outro as program ``Women Libs --- produced at
WPRR, Public Reality Radio``; then full ID for that on 1680 AM plus three FMs,
95.3, 90.1 and 88.3 in different towns, and into `Sierra Club Radio`. Besides
1680, homepage http://www.publicrealityradio.org/
mentions only 95.3 in the lower right; 95.3 and 91.9 in the upper left. Maybe
the others are mere translators. Linx to shows: `Women Libs` http://www.publicrealityradio.org/programs/womenlibs
is
at 10 am Mondays, and `Sierra Club Radio`:
is
at 5 am Mondays, so these must be extra repeats, or outdated info.
shows
neither for Tuesday morning March 3. Whatever the contradixions, a rare
left-wing radio station, which ought to get 50 kW clear-channel status, and
shortwave. Fat chance. Ada is an eastern suburb of Grand Rapids MI, pop. 2300
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 702, March 3 at
1308 UT, JBA carrier seems from W rather than NW, and no signals from the 500 kW
NHK outlets. This is probably Australia. A bit too late to start checking, as
today`s sunrise was 1300 UT; in a month it will have earlied to 1216 UT (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
