Glenn Hauser logs November 7-8, 2018

DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS massively updated for post-DST and B-18 season:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

WORLD OF RADIO schedule totally updated:
http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

** AFGHANISTAN [non]. 13860, Nov 7 at 1455, very poor ME talk; it`s R. Ashna in Pashto at 1430-1500, then Dari 1500-1630, 300 kW, 75 degrees from Woofferton UK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ANGUILLA. 11775, Nov 8 at 1535, PMS is on and managing to modulate without the spurspikes plus/minus 100 kHz range I was getting before 2200 on Nov 6 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BULGARIA. 11945, Nov 7 at 1503, S Asian song at S7-S5. It`s AWR in Tamil, 250 kW, 111 degrees via Sofia, says HFCC, so I guess the music is pro-Adventist, or at least pro-Christian (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, Nov 7 at 0701, this RHC is still on opening final hour of English replays, but 0703 cut to dead air just before news can start; supposed to run at 0600-0700 only. After 0700, 6000, 6060 and 6165 remain, while 6100 is a JBA carrier, presumably still RHC too. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, Nov 8 at 1542, RHC Spanish still on here, unlike Nov 6, but weak S9-S6, // others also going: 15230, 11760, 9535, 7340, two of them soon to be dropped.

Wolfgang Bueschel has received the new B-18 sked to go into effect November 11; here are the morning and midday blox:
1200-1500  6000 QVC 250  305 NCAm Spanish
1200-1600  9535 BEJ 100  230 CeAm Spanish
1200-1600  9640 BEJ 050  110 Antill Spanish
1200-1600 11760 BAU 100  n-d NCAm Spanish
1200-1400 11950 BAU 100  340 WNAm Spanish
1200-1500 13780 BEJ 050  160 SoAm Spanish
1200-1600 15140 QVC 250  130 SoAm Spanish
1400-1600 13700 BAU 100  315 WNAm Spanish

1600-1630 11760 BAU 100  n-d NCAm Spanish    Mon-Sat
1600-1630 11760 BAU 100  n-d NCAm Esperanto  Sun only
1600-1900 15140 BAU 100  010 ENAm Spanish
1630-1900 11760 BAU 100  n-d NCAm Spanish

Note that last Sunday I heard Esperanto on both 11760 and 15140. Also
of note, the new English frequency for ``Africa`` at 00-01 will be
9720, // 5040 Antilles (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 13820, 11860, Nov 8 at 1543, nothing but WON jamming here, not even a carrier detectable from Greenville Martí. JBA carrier amid on 11930. Is it VP prop or GB off? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** FRANCE [and non]. See USA: WRMI

** MADAGASCAR. 11965, Nov 7 at 2050, APR on MWV already signing off with English schedule, and today`s outro song, ``A Place For Us``. Usual good signal all the way from Mahajanga (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SINGAPORE. 7355, Nov 8 a 1550, poor signal in Asian language: BBC Korean at 1530-1830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 12034.898, Nov 8 at 1536, JBA talk, from AWR Marathi at 1530-1600, 125 kW, 345 degrees from Trincomalee, always? off-frequency now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1955 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday November 7 at 2200 on WRMI 9955, and about one second later on WBCQ 7490+, both fair; and a fine example of coördination, both having latened exactly one hour post-DST. Next:

1200 UT Saturday  Unique 9265 via WINB to WSW

** U S A. 5950, Nov 7 at 1421 check, this WRMI with JBA music and not // 9955. Usage of 5950 is constantly changing, and at one time would duplicate the 9955 morning block.0

5950, UT Thu Nov 8 at 0147, trying to check whether this WRMI is now // 9395 as on the skedgrid --- 5950 with Oldies music, 9395 only a JBA carrier, so can`t be sure. 0151 ``Moon River``, 0152 Oldies-style ID (the word Oldies is never heard), 0153 VOA news, 0158 ad for cheap airline tickets with 800 number, 0200 opening RAE with multi-lingual ID reel, prior to English-only.

5950, one more WRMI check at 0558 Nov 8; very poor music, and not // 9395 fair with other music. Presumably one or both about to pick up RFI via WRN relay. Speaking of which, Mike Cooper in GA says Nov 7:

``RFI ENGLISH CUTBACK =-= At the end of today's 1400 RFI English broadcast, there was an announcement that RFI English morning broadcasts will be discontinued later this month. The 1400 "Paris Live" program will continue.`` And on Nov 8:

``I heard the announcement again today at the end of the 1400 UT English hour. It said that effective Sunday, November 18, RFI English morning broadcasts will come to an end. The announcement encourages us to join RFI for "new Paris Live programs" at 1400 from Monday through Friday every week. This implies there will be no more weekend broadcasts. No mention was made of the daily 1600 broadcast (which is a repeat of the 1400 hour, with a fresh newscast). I have yet to find any mention of these changes on RFI's web site``

The 0600 only has been on SW, 7245 direct, new frequency for B-18 I`ve yet to check, and also on WRN via WRMI 5950. Maybe also at 1600, tho WRN sked is self-contradictory also showing New Zealand that hour M-F. Of course, 5950 at 1600 is audible only circumchobee.

Meanwhile checked at 1750 UT Nov 8, Jeff White, logged into his WRMI skedgrid spreadsheet flanked by anonymous moose, wombat, ferret and hedgehog, has entered yet another change, now showing 5950 at 00-01 with Radio France International. Before that, in same bright green, it`s generic WRN (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
