Glenn Hauser logs May 23-24, 2018

** CHINA. 15320, May 24 at 0025, S4-S1 with flutter in Chinese, presumed CNR1 jammer against VOA Chinese via Philippines this hour only. It`s the OSOB except for 15120 China via Cuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 14295, May 24 at 0027, JBA carrier where there was none a couple minutes earlier. I`m looking for the third harmonic of 4765, R. Progreso which now has its carrier on too, but music modulation does not come up until 0033:40; and 14295 is just too weak to match, but I`m sure that`s it. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba; but harmonix of Rebelde 5025 are rarely reported: 10050, 15075 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, May 24 at 0017, surprised to find RHC AWOL from here, but still going on 11700, 11830, 11840, 11850 --- there is a JBA carrier on 11760; exciter, or CNR1 as also listed? Something`s always wrong at RHC.

11880, May 24 at 0018, surprised to find this frequency still on air in Kriyol // 5040. Supposed to stop by 0000 after English. Something`s always wrong at RHC.

11900, May 24 at 0019, weak signal in Spanish at S0-S1, confirmed as RHC by // 11840, 12000 and 11760 which has come back on by 0021, but soon fades out. Does not work out to be an ordinary leapfrog from any pair of 25mb frequencies ---- unless it is 11760 over the 11830 spur of 11840, another 70 kHz beyond? But there is none on 11920 which would be over 11840 itself. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9553 & 9587 approx., May 24 at 1248, extremely distorted matching parasitic spurblobs out of 9570 relay of CRI. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13700, May 24 at 1302, RHC is S9+20/30 of dead air; modulation not applied until 1307.5. Meanwhile other RHC on 13740 is roughly modulating at S9/S9+10 with some squeal. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 13730, May 24 at 1335, low modulation at S7-S9, in Russian, still past 1419: it`s VIRI as scheduled 1320-1420, 500 kW, 336 degrees from Sirjan, also good for us far beyond Moskva (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, May 23 at 2356, JBA carrier from Red Radio Integridad via Radio Chaski, Urubamba, until autocutoff at 2358:43.5* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 15450.045V, May 24 at 1257, VOT in English talk, music, but VP S4-S6 and wavering slightly (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 6993, May 24 at 0000, JBA carriers, at least two beating from slightly different frequencies. Often audible but not logged since last September as in DXLD 17-37; from presumed WH2XWF, experimental 164-watt transmitters with several locations in Florida, to study ionospheric disturbances, never IDing, nothing but dead air. The original info about these was in:
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1931 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday May 23 at 2100 on WRMI 9955, poor S9-S7; also barely confirmed on WBCQ 7490.03, VP S7-S5 in noise. Not confirmed at 2342 on WBCQ 9330.1v, as TOMBS continues // 7570 WRMI. Next:

Full schedule for WOR on all outlets, not just SW; podcast linx:
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7489.9, UT Thu May 24 at 0006, WBCQ`s Spanish program `Antena DX` in progress with ``boletín DX``, about a SW transmitter site in Holland being dismantled, name sounds like Sejuel[??]. Will need 4 months to take down 17 masts not used since 2007y and cost 100 kiloeuro. In 2012, defense took over the canal park, will be used for military/ship communication worldwide. A new television station will be on there from 2020. I relistened to it via
to get the details, despite annoying music bed constantly. Is this really about Flevo? No source was cited!

Later after :12 an item voiced by Luis Pineda in Panamá about Deutscher Wetterdienst, altho not named, schedule on 5905 & 6180 ``potencia de 10 kilohertz [sic]`` with e-mail address as info@dwd.de the first time, repeated as info@dw.de which implies Deutsche Welle, but they are really at info@dw.com; the first one is correct for DWD per WRTH.

The show`s Programas DX page continues to display the wrong WBCQ day, time and frequency: ``WBCQ The Planet Martes [Tue!] a las 00:30 UTC, en la frecuencia de 5.130 kHz``. WBCQ schedule also has it differently wrong: ``5130 Th 0030 0100 UTC We 08:30PM 09:00PM EST [sic] Antena DX``. I already went over all the wrong info about WRMI as well.

Wouldn`t it be great if all stations and programs could get all their schedule info coördinated and accurately published?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7730, UT Thu May 24 at 0009, kids singing with keyboard, audio distorted so I can`t even be sure they are in English. Carrier seems stable enough, with BFO. Followed by a song in Portuguese which makes me suspect this is World Music fill instead of as scheduled for 7730 on System D, `Sounding Alarm` at 0000-0030 Thu; at 0013 not // 9455 which is Oldies at S6-S7. Recheck at 0036, 7730 is less distorted during Wavescan. Which had just played on: 9955, May 24 at 0015, WRMI with pulse jamming during AWR Wavescan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9455, May 24 at 1246, WRMI Oldies at S4-S6; while 9395 is Brother Scare at S9/S9+10. 9455 continues to be a secret underpowered transmission, but at least keeps Oldies going when 9395 often opts out for otherstuff. Now if only Bob could announce the correct frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13845, May 24 at 1308, as soon as RHC has managed to modulate on 13700 [see CUBA], I notice competitive WWCR dead-airing here, except for considerable hum, altho was OK a few minutes earlier as I observed super-signals on 13845 and 15825 due to HF sporadic E boost. I leave a spare receiver on 13845 all hour, and WWCR remains dead until revived at 1359 for ad and ID!

Dirty little not-so-secret: most radio stations will not pay a genuine human being to control output, become aware of to fix any problem ASAP --- Of course, who would want to really listen to that crap? But not even by remote silence alarms! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1130, May 24 at 1229 UT, KLEY Wellington KS is still SNAFU (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7155.50-LSB, May 24 at 0002, two hams speaking Spanglish, i.e.. mixing two languages fluidly within a single sentence (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15809.94, May 23 at 2002, big carrier with tone, or rather several carrier peaks with BFO, also: 15808.34, 15807.62, 15806.84, 15806.07, 15805.30; also 15810.72, 15811.49 --- full range of audibility is 15802-15814. Most average 0.77 kHz apart. So what is it? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
