Glenn Hauser logs December 17, 2017

** ALASKA [and non]. 7355, Dec 17 at 1411, checking the ex-RNZI frequency, some VP talk vs VP Cuban pulse jamming, KNLS as scheduled for English hour? Maybe, but HFCC shows Iran in Kurdish also on 7355, 500 kW, 310 degrees USward from Sirjan at 1400-1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11830 & 11850, Sunday Dec 17 at 1440, RHC `En Contacto` is S9 but JBM on parasites, while fundamental 11840 amid is S9+30 but suppressed modulation, altho not distorted. Arnie is talking about WWVB, soon the sporadic E season. Same on // 11760 & 11650 with normal mod, both at S9+20. He writes the whole thing, but during his voice there is hum and reverb; from his hospital bed? 1449 YL co-host who utters words Arnie puts in her mouth, in outro credit line gives her name which is not Marta Ríos (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA. 7181.553, Dec 17 at 1412, S6-S9 carrier but no modulation detectable amid hamband, surely VOBME`s off-frequency INTRUDER transmitter by long-path. Nothing audible for the other VOBME circa 7140. See also ETHIOPIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ETHIOPIA. 7236.360V, Dec 17 at 1417, S7-S5 carrier, no doubt R. Ethiopia always way off-frequency, via longpath. See also ERITREA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Dec 17 at 0707, JJBA carrier from presumed R. Kiribati; I keep looking for any other reports of this and find one:

``A couple Japanese powerhouse stations in this evening along with a weak Radio Kiribati 846. CHRISTMAS ISLAND, 12/15 poor to weak from 0717 to 0721. Music. Best regards, (Dennis Vroom, Kalama, WA, JRC NRD 545 + Drake R8B, Random wire 380', IRCA via DXLD)`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA SOUTH [and non]. 6045, Dec 17 at 1427, ballad, maybe in English? at S9-S7, 1430 Korean? talk, with lite pulse/tone jamming. Is the current frequency of Voice of Freedom, 10 kW clandestine (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7430, Dec 17 at 1355, RNZI is still here with Maori(?) music, good S9. Nothing on 7390. On Dec 15, Ivo Ivanov reported:

``Upcoming frequency change of Radio New Zealand Pacific, Dec 16
1259-1650 7390 RAN 050 kW / 035 deg Pac  English AM mode Dly, ex 7430
1651-1758 7390 RAN 050 kW / 035 deg Pac  English AM mode Sat, ex 7430

or alternative frequency of Radio New Zealand Pacific effective Dec 16
1259-1650 7320*RAN 050 kW / 035 deg Pac  English AM mode Dly, ex 7430
1651-1758 7320*RAN 050 kW / 035 deg Pac  English AM mode Sat, ex 7430
*strong   7320 ERV 300 kW / 280 deg WAs Kurdish BRB Denge Kurdistan!``

Before 1400 Dec 17, 7390 is clear as is 7395, while there is a JBA carrier on 7385. At 1403 now 7395 has some S6 in Japanese, which is CRI via Xi`an. Latest HFCC of Dec 15 shows:
7390 1300 1700 61S,62,63W    RAN 50  35 0 148 1234567 161217 250318 D
7390 1300 1700 51,56,64S,65S RAN 50 325 0 148 1234567 161217 250318 D
but it`s now a day later and still on 7430 which is also registered for the rest of B-17. As of 1643 UT Dec 17, RNZI`s own website sked shows 7430, nothing about 7390 or 7320 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA [non]. 11530, Dec 17 at 0708, Radio Herwa International via WRMI, S9-S7 in Hausa? talk, with slight echo, music. This time it`s *much* stronger than the nearby WRMIBS on 11580, JBA only S1-S3, why? The echo via long path?? No, I think the delay is not long enough for that; so backscatter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 6100, Dec 17 at 1421, suspicious low-audible-het with weak audio mixture. Without making a match, strongly suspect it`s WWCR 7490 minus local KCRC 1390v; vs real 6100 stations KCBS P`yongyang and/or CRI English via Urumqi (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1908 monitoring: ham news still going at 0425 UT Sunday December 17 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Missouri, but at 0448 check WOR S9+30 at its mid-pause, which means it started about 0434. Next:

[note: 9330 broadcasts inaudible and not confirmed lately, but still on schedule and allegedly on air; if anyone detect them, let us know!]

** U S A. 9455, Dec 17 at 0713, comparing WRMI Oldies with // 9395, I can tell that the 9455 transmitter is slightly unstable, wobbling while 9395 is not. See also NIGERIA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, Dec 17 at 1432, poor signal with music, unseems Xmas, until 1437, ``Winter Wonderland``, so no doubt the #3 frequency of WTWW but hardly propagating yet. In the Bible-Worldwide days it was never on air until afternoons.

12105, Dec 17 at 1707, now it`s inbooming, soul version of ``Santa Claus is Comin` to Town`, 1708 Xmas greeting in English by another canned ham in Ohio. What does Ted have against SWLs greeting on a SW broadcast station? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6087.4, Dec 17 at 1428, CW including numbers and letters, and off, INTRUDER (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
