** ALBANIA. 9854.94, June 10 at 0129, R. Tirana IS at S2, then up to S6 with
some hum, 0130 English sign-on. Transmitter is not cutting off tonight, but too
poor to follow in noise level.
BTW, the ``gunfire`` some German listener
reported during an RT broadcast on 7465 was really some digital mode utility QRM
as I heard on a clip, or maybe OTH radar as Noel Green suggests (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** AUSTRALIA. 17840, June 10 at 0542, RA with
report on PNG unrest. This is always audible after *2100 but now we are into
solstitial conditions maintaining it late into our night at decent S9+10 to 20
level (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CANADA. 2749-USB, June
10 at 0148 UT, robotic YL with marine weather detectable vs storm noise level
adding up to S9+10. Pleased this is still making it all the way from Nova Scotia
in summer. Canadian CG website says:
``MCTS Halifax / VCS - Broadcasts
0140 Chebogue 2749J3E Radiotelephony (English followed by French). Technical
marine forecasts synopsis, forecasts and wave height forecasts for marine areas:
201 to 214. U.S. weather forecasts for Coastal Waters – Eastport to Schoodic
Point, Maine and Offshore Waters – Gulf of Maine to the Hague Line. Notices to
Shipping in areas Bay of Fundy, South and West Coast Nova Scotia`` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EAST TURKISTAN [and non]. Solstitial
conditions (minimum darkness over north polar path), are now in play, producing
at least weak signals close to our midnite, 0543-0546 UT June 10:
17720,
very poor, flutter, S6-S8, talk (CRI Kashgar in German)
17615, very poor,
flutter, S7-S9, talk (CRI Urumqi in German)
17540, JBA, S5-S6 (CRI Kashgar in
English)
17520, two signals slightly offset, very poor S6-S7 (CNR1 jamming
and IBB Chinese via Saipan)
17510, JBA carrier (CRI Kashgar in
English)
16300 & 16100, June 10 at 0546 JBA carriers no doubt from
CNR1 jammers
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE. 13725,
Friday June 10 at 0601, RFI`s sôle English hour on SW is S9 with clip of Obama
endorsing Hillary and more US, world news. Good conditions now, as sometimes the
MUF doesn`t make it in the nightmiddle. RFI Hausa is even better, S9+10 on
13750. Hope it`s again audible for `Sound Kitchen` listener contact show circa
0615 UT Saturday. Susan Owensby from Muskogee posts about each week`s
edition:
which
I have now added to DX/SWL/Media programs:
(Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GREECE. 11645, June 10 at 0135, VOG
is again on here instead of 9935, poor S5 // much stronger S9+20 9420.
11645, June 10 at 0551, barely detectable underneath R. Dabanga via
Vatican, both talking, this // 9420. The two 11645 are zero-beat (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** IRAN. 12025, June 10 at 0139, VIRI Spanish is
still dead air at S4, or maybe just barely modulated.
15750, June 10 at
0548, JBA carrier, presumably the only thing listed, VIRI in westward Arabic at
0530-1430, 500 kW, 289 degrees from Zahedan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** JAPAN [non]. 11740, June 10 at 1316 talk in Vietnamese, but
with a giveaway word in Japanese, as it`s NHK via SINGAPORE, fair S6-S8 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NIGERIA. 7255v & 9690v, June 10
at 0602 check, no signals from V of Nigeria in Hausa. 31m has been off for a
long while, but // 7255- lasted longer and maybe will recur (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 9545, June 10 at 0557, poor
signal here which means it must be SIBC on late again past nominal 0500*; 0600+
some music audible, but gone at 0610 recheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** SRI LANKA. 11905, June 10 at 0115, SLBC is on with prélude,
S1, just barely enough to detect their 2+1 mis-timesignal ending right on
mis-time at 0115:17.5. So we still have this, altho IBB has closed down
Iranawila relay abruptly: see reports under USA [non] (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** SUDAN [non]. 11645, June 10 at 0551, R. Dabanga via
VATICAN is S7-8 with no jamming around here nor ex-11650, but co-channel with
GREECE which has been on this frequency more than 9935 lately. Greece is way
under here, but probably more of a clash around Sudan (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** TIBET [non]. 15557, June 10 at 1403, JBA carrier, so
Voice of Tibet via TAJIKISTAN, but there must have been another slight schedule
change since current Aoki info which shows:
15557 1304-1333 TJK * VOICE OF
TIBET Tib Dushanbe-Ya 1-7
15558 1407-1430 TJK * VOICE OF TIBET Tib
Dushanbe-Ya 1-7
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A
[non]. As of today the SRI LANKA station is no more. The station is too
expensive to maintain and something like a quarter million bolts on the antennas
need to be replaced because of corrosion. They are closing two a year now, so
one of the German stations is next (a reliable source, June 9, for DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
To state the obvious, this site was ideal for covering much of
Asia, and part of Africa. Perhaps some of the scheduled IRA transmissions for
the time being will be shifted to other sites? (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
Victor Goonetilleke in Sri Lanka, who works as a monitor for IBB,
replies, ``Yes, Glenn, last broadcast went out on the 8th. Sad but this is the
way SW goes``.
Here`s a partial schedule from HFCC of IRA transmissions,
mainly the ones which could be heard in North America:
2330-0030 7440
Burmese
0030-0130 9940 Burmese
0100-0200 9780 Uighur
0100-0300 11700
Pashto
0100-0400 13840 Pashto
1200-1800 12005 Farsi
1230-1330 7530
Burmese
1300-1400 13590 Pashto
1300-1600 9310 Pashto
1300-1900 9335
Pashto
1330-1430 11695 Khmer
1430-1530 11965 Burmese
Not one of the
others has been in English (Glenn Hauser, dxldyg via DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
So I start checking; any signals heard on scheduled IRA
frequencies are presumably still IBB switched to some other site such as Kuwait,
Thailand, Philippines or NMI; no update yet but details should eventually show
up in HFCC:
7440, June 9 at 2332, no signal.
9780, June 10 at
0116, something is on JBA. This was Uighur, so presumably jammed; if not IBB,
could still be the ChiCom.
9940, 11700, 13840, no signals at 0117 June 10
check
And checking the 1200+ UT frequencies above circa
1345-1400:
12005, JBA carrier at 1343 (Radio Farda from somewhere)
13590,
off-frequency carrier
9310, JBA carrier
9335, no carrier
11695, Khmer
fair at S5 past 1400, so a more easterly site now?
11965, JBA carrier at
1434
9940, June 10 at 1256, fair S3-S5 in Burmese is instead
INDIA

** U S A. 7490, Thu June 9
at 2330, WBCQ is OFF during scheduled hour for Broad Spectrum Radio (while 9330
is on as usual with WOR; nothing on 5130). By 0119 UT Friday June 10 recheck,
7489.925 is back on with Brother Scare; 9330 is off as scheduled; and 5129.9-AM
is on at 0128 with `Just Right` political discussion from Ontarians, as also
scheduled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 12105, June
9 at 1934, WTWW-3 is S9+20 Bibling in Spanish, and note that the carrier is
slightly wobbling; likewise 9930 WTWW-2, but more stable is 9475 WTWW-1 (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 6970-AM, June 10 at 0118,
JBA carrier under noise level is the only sign of a pirate, but nothing in HF
Underground to explain it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 16064.0, June 10 at 1405, JBA carrier, intriguing,
as I am bandscanning for CNR1 jammers. Sound of Hope would not normally be on
such an off-frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
