** BRAZIL. 5990, Aug 16 at 0106, RNA is gone again from its extra frequency, still on 6180 and 11780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** ECUADOR. 6050, Aug 16 at 0144, no carrier from the one and only HCJB, so is it off? Usually a bit of it; Bolivia audible on 5952.4, 6135v (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** EGYPT. So what`s going on at Abis and Abu Zaabal tonight?
9315, Aug 16 at 0117, R. Cairo Spanish has loud and distorted music with big hum and crackle, but no spurs. This is more typical of the way 12070 usually sounds
9965, Aug 16 at 0121, R. Cairo, Arabic song extremely distorted and suppressed modulation
12070, Aug 16 at 0122, R. Cairo Spanish, clean open carrier --- but faked out again, just a pause before distorted music and opening `La Revista Turística`, // 9315. More or less readable if you can stand it
11710, Aug 16 at 0122, third Spanish frequency is still off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** GREECE. 9935, Aug 16 at 0109, ERTOpen is on again, with Greek music, no modulation problem and only slightly weaker than // 9420; and / 15630 is JBA, improving later but modulation seems low (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** IRAN. 9860, Aug 16 at 0120, VRII, Spanish, fair with flutter, but way undermodulated compared to // 12025 which is much weaker signal. Too much Cuba on 11760 to detect whether Iran is still there too (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6925-USB, Aug 16 at 0135, good signal with pirate music; was not on during previous half hour chex. Lyric seems to be ``Diesel ---something---, truck-driving, asshole cowboy``. An original? Lotsa songs on Diesel fumes, not including such a title, at http://www.virtualtruckroute.com/music_songs.html
0136 audio cuts out; wiggle that patchcord. Smax of Whisky Redneck Radio, and confirmed by 0140 announcement, ``This is WRR, Whiskey Redneck Radio --- speaking truth and justice from the temple of the screamin` electron``. ``Our roads are on lockdown``, F- and S- words. Implies he`s in the ``Deep South, good country, but a bunch of people have ruined it``; to exceed the speed limit, need to go 5000 miles further south for something close to freedom (Patagonia??). At 0143, ``gone, gone, gone`` which I was expecting to be title of next song, but he meant ``off, off, off`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 5980, Aug 16 at 0107-0108:11.5*, R. Chaski carrier cutting off six seconds later than yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** QATAR [non]. 7300, Aug 16 at 0133, no signal from Al Jazeera, Arabic TV news network audio, unlike 24 hours ago. Ivo Ivanov was not hearing any of the other 7 or 15 MHz frequencies Aug 15, so apparently only a one-off test on Aug 14, presumably via Kostinbrod, Bulgaria (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 5050, Aug 16 at 0114, Brother Scare via WWRB as I tune across is on his ego-trip about MW outlets: thinx WCKY Cincinnati is on 1520; and that the Dallas station carrying him overnight is 50 kW! Nope, only in the daytime, KBXD 1480, and only if their CP is on while FCC still shows licensed for 5 kW day, 1.9 kW night, before and after. Typical; can`t even get the facts straight about his own outlets, yet he fancies himself The Last Day Prophet of God. And people with money keep falling for it! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also USA: WRMI: 11580
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1733 monitoring: confirmed at new time on two WRMI frequencies at once: Friday August 15 at 2130.5 on 7570 and 15770, following double IDs by Rudy Espinal and Ian McFarland. Despite lower frequency on day-path, 7570 is quite better here as expected since it`s beamed 315 degrees, almost right at us, about 310 from Okee to Enid, while the 315 crosses Kansas on its way to Victoria BC; but 15770 is at 44 east of true north, or 94 degrees off from here.
(Jeff is hoping the 44 degree antenna will serve the east coast well enough, but it`s about 25 degrees off from ideal: New York really at 20 degrees for which there is no antenna on the way to Murmansk. 44 misses all of our continent, about halfway between Norfolk and Bermuda, but crosses Europe a degree north of Paris.)
WOR 1733? Yes, it was a replay of last week`s show, rather than 1734 which was ready almost two days ago; prompt airing of new shows is not guaranteed on frequencies other than 9955. Reception anyhow of the 7570 transmission, if the same scheduling holds, will only improve as we get into fall and winter. Next WOR 1734 airings:
Saturday 0630 & 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio, 7265-CUSB
UT Sunday 0100 on WRMI, 5950 (new time and frequency; maybe 1733)
UT Sunday 0131 on KVOH, 9975
UT Monday 0259v on Area 51 via WBCQ, 5110v-CUSB
Tuesday 1100 on WRMI, 9955
Wednesday 0630 on HLR, 7265-CUSB
Wednesday 1315 on WRMI, 9955
Wednesday 1430 on HLR, 7265-CUSB
Wednesday 2100 on WBCQ, 7490v

** U S A [and non]. 11580, Aug 16 at 0100, new frequency for TOM via WRMI, ex-11730, which had a lot of collisions: it`s still hard to find a really clear frequency if you need to use it 24 hours. 11580 will also be running 24/7, on same 44-azimuth antenna. The co-channels here will be: 12-15 KTWR Guam, but to its west or northwest; 1745-2030 All India Radio, English and French to N/W Africa; and per Aoki, CNR1 jamming any time between 2230 and 16 vs pipsqueak SOH transmitter relaying R. Free Asia --- may be sporadic: I haven`t been hearing CNR1 there. See also VATICAN now cleared on 11730 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7555, Oct 16 at 0134, KJES is off for another night (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1680, Oct 16 at 0147 UT, fast SAH resolves into barely non-ID as ``Classic Country 1680``, so KRJO Monroe LA again. Quite a weak signal compared to those on all other X-band channels as far away as Chicago, so I again suspect, as I did before last crash, that they are not running full 1 kW night power. KAZ found it odd that I never mention hearing another 1680, KNTS Seattle, until measuring that it`s quite a bit farther from me than KGED Fresno, beyond single-hop range. True, I`ve yet to get KNTS (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** VATICAN [non]. 11730, Aug 16 at 0104, very poor signal in presumed Tamil from VR via UZBEKISTAN, now that WRMI has moved to 11580 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 5995+, Aug 16 at 0106, I notice a JBA carrier, very slightly on the hi side, in the absence of 5990 Brasil; but not in the absence of 6000 Cuba, which is splashing over this far too much. Nothing at all is scheduled on 5995 now, and there are no known Latin Americans active on it. (R. Loyola, Bolivia was last reported in 2008y but it was above 5996.) Best guess would be Mali leaving their carrier on during the 6-hour overnight break. Will have to see if it`s offset-hi after 0555 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 13559-LSB, 13557-USB, and 13556-USB are the 1-kHz tuning steps where I can hear very weak CW hifer beacon at different BFO pitches, sending M T I very slowly with long pause, every 13 seconds. Harold Frodge in MI has also heard this and put it on 13555.6. Sources still contradict whether the current location is Ellicott City MD or Stone Mountain GA. Lists show a whole lot of these things around 13560, but hearing any is a challenge, so wonder if most of them are inactive, sporadic, or just too weak. I`ve yet to find out whether the other two I have heard, AJO and AZ are really in Ajo, Arizona (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
