Glenn Hauser logs August 13-14, 2014

** BRAZIL. 11780, Aug 14 at 0105 still with no spurs, so henceforth will note this only if they recur.

5990, Aug 14 at 0110, third RNA frequency is on again tonight, quite weaker than // 6180 with sports coverage (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 18210, Aug 14 at 0121, RHC Spanish poor-fair but quite readable on third harmonic of 6070; better than 12140, the second harmonic, which is JBA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. R. Cairo chex UT Aug 14:
9965, Aug 14 at 0105, R. Cairo Arabic service with suppressed modulation, and putting out pulsing from 9955 to 9975. At 0113 no modulation, only the pulsing and now same sounds on several spur ranges, weakening the further from 9965 and peaking roughly in the middle of each: 9860-9867, 9876-9883, 9918-9928, 9940-9950, 9980-9990, 10002-10008, 10025-10033!

12070, Aug 14 at 0118, open carrier/dead air with some hum, --- but it`s just a pause, as then very loud and distorted Spanish modulation resumes; splashing out to 12045-12105.

9315 & 11710, Aug 14 at 0118, both the other R. Cairo Spanish are off! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** FRANCE. 13740, Aug 13 at 1930, RFI French IDs, titulaires, fair signal, on 200 degree, 500 kW beam from Issoudun (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** FRANCE [non]. 5950, Thu Aug 14 at 0104, RFI Musique, fair, one of the two blox which have surprisingly shown up on WRMI alternate frequency to 9955 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1734, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 12025, Aug 14 at 0106, VRII resumed here, poor in Spanish, better on // 9860. Presumably ex-11760, but RHC is very strong tonight and might be totally blocking Iran there; 12025 was missing Aug 13; and on Aug 12, José Ronaldo Xavier, Paraíba, was hearing both 11760 and 12025 as well as 9860 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1734, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KUWAIT. 13650, Aug 13 at 1926, R. Kuwait reactivated, Arabic talk, fair with flutter, after several days on 15475 instead. Good news for LRA36 Antarctica, if they are still trying to broadcast on 15476, not reported lately altho this hour is around their peak time on weekdays. 13650 off by 2000, so I then wait for same transmitter to pop on 17550.

17550, Aug 13 at *2002:48, R. Kuwait carrier comes on after QSY from 13650, both to North America Central & West, also ex-15475. Joins Arabic in progress, good with heavy flutter, 2005 nice romantic-sounding music. On this high band, reception is quite variable, but today is a good day. Only two other signals audible on 16m now, 17790 WRMI, and 17850 Spain, not fluttery, but roughly equal levels.

15540, Aug 13 after 2000, R. Kuwait English service also audible fairly, with western pop music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1734, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Aug 14 at 0105, very poor carrier from R. Chaski until cutoff at 0107:59.5*, which is 12 seconds later than 48 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, Aug 13 at 1927, WTWW-3 Bibling a begat-list, but in Spanish as ``hijo de, hijo de,`` etc. 1928 break for ID in English by Ted. Only poor-fair signal, while neighbor 12160 WWCR is blasting in (also on 13845, and good enough on 15825), so I conclude WTWW-3 must be running much reduced power (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
