Glenn Hauser logs May 21-22-23, 2018

** CUBA. 13820, May 22 at 1325, pulse jamming against nothing, the R. Martí frequency active only in the B-seasons; plenty jamming against now active 13605. But RHC fails to spew spurblobs all over the band from the 13700 transmitter, unlike yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1931, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11880, May 22 at 2356, RHC English is OFF --- don`t know whether it was off for entire 2300 hour, but now English is still running on // 5040.. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 11760, May 23 at 0111, RHC Spanish is just barely modulated on big signal; 11700 and 12000 have poor signals but more modulation. Only 11840 on band is sufficiently modulated and with bigsig. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5040, May 23 at 0614, S9+20 of dead air, instead of turned off at 0600* after one English hour. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 13740, May 23 at 1604, open carrier at S9+20 is certainly the CRI English relay not turned off at 1600*. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) See also unID 17730

** KOREA SOUTH [and non]. 6135, May 23 at 1147, noise jamming only at S6, no trace of a carrier from V. of Freedom, which is presumably still on reactivated 6045 where I do have a carrier with some music at S4-S5, no jamming audible here but Ron Howard reports VOF and jamming on 6045 at 1050-1220+ today (Glenn Hauser, OK DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7425, May 23 at 1156 familiar tune with percussion dumps off the air for about a semi-minute and resumes amid same music with weaker signal. Circa 1200 is not a time RNZI normally changes antennas and there is certainly no bell bird or QSY announcement, unlike an hour later when 7425 goes to 5980; sked still shows: ``1059-1258 7425 Solomon Islands, PNG Daily``, i.e. the only transmission on NNW antenna only, before and after on the NNE better for us. The midnight news at 1200 starts with attack on a doctor in PNG (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 3260, May 23 at 1138, song at S5 vs noise crashes at S9, but R. Madang is stronger than it used to be as Ron Howard has noted, in fact the SSOB; compared to 3325 JBA carrier from Bougainville or Palangkaraya; and no NK signals audible on 90m, altho detectable on 105, and/or jamming on 75, 66, 49m (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAIPAN. 12140.034, May 23 at 1303, RFA in Cambodian, S7-S3, typically off-frequency from this IBB site (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1930 monitoring: not confirmed Monday May 21 at 2330 on WBCQ 9330v, BS continues. ** U S A. 9455, May 22 at 0553 check, JBA carrier, presumed still WRMI`s secret low-power transmission. Meanwhile, 9395 is S7-S4 with VOA news during Oldies.

9455 maybe trace of music, from 1359 past 1400 past 1431 May 22. Again, the only other 9455 schedulees are at 1315-1345 Bangladesh, 1330-1357 Taiwan, 1500-1557 China. As of May 22 at 1645, the WRMI skedgrids still do not have any mention of 9455 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1931, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

9455, further chex: UT Wed May 23 at 0115, with Oldies undermodulated, but the signal is S6-S8, stronger than it had been. May 23 at 1208, 9455 ``Mellow Yellow`` ends, Biermann WRMI ID for ``9395`` (where Brother Scare is really, much louder), S4-S5, and on to ``Stairway to Heaven``, with some peaks to S9 (while 9395 is S9+10 and much louder). Still May 23 at 1505, searching http://www.wrmi.net/WRMIfqs --- ``There are no entries matching 9455`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5010, May 23 at 1145, Spanish at S7 vs S9 noise level, WRMI scheduled with Radio Praga. Note: the transmission skedgrid still mislabels the 1100-1200/1230 emission of XMTR 14 as ``5950``, while the other one at 2200-0100 is correctly labeled 5010. BUT, 5950 is also shown continuously 24 hours for XMTR 5 at 285 degrees, i.e. ex-9455 programming. Just another anomaly at WRMI, website info vs reality (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15665-15670-15675, Wednesday May 23 circa 1600, NO DRM noise detectable, vs band noise level. WINB is allegedly testing DRM here, M-F 1100-1700 with 15 kW at 62 degrees (reverse of usual rhombic azimuth on 9265V). First time I`ve looked for it. Propagation is pitiful so possibly it`s on; 15825 WWCR is JBA carrier, so there is no sporadic E boost over eastern America. 15555-USB WJHR however is barely detectable. It will probably take some Es to audiblize this WINB.

Not that I really care: transmitting its gospel huxter crap in ``crystal-clear DRM`` is not going to improve the content one whit. The WINB notice from Hans Johnson also was posted on the drmna yg, but since then, no one there has reported hearing it either (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 17730, May 23 at 1603, open carrier at S9 with slight fading, RHC? Scheduled here at 1100-1500, but was inaudible circa 1400. Could also be a transmitter check from VOA Greenville which is not scheduled on 17730 at any time. Meanwhile, only other significant 16mb signal at 1603 is S9+10 from 17775 KVOH (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
