Glenn Hauser logs November 30-December 1, 2015

** ALBANIA. 7470, Dec 1 at 0223, R. Tirana IS is audible but very poor, S5, confirming at least they are on after missing two nights ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BOLIVIA [and non]. 5952.45, Dec 1 at 0110, R. Pio Doce is S9+10, nice to hear after being missing in last several evening monitoring sessions. Talk must be in Quechua or Aymara, as only a few loan-words from Spanish are understood. Still on at 0151, a little weaker at S9, but much stronger than something on 5950, presumably Iran in Tajik per HFCC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BOLIVIA. 6134.82, Dec 1 at 0154, dramatic promo about radio from R. Santa Cruz, S9 and no 6135.2 Brasil het, Aparecida off? Furthermore, the annoying RTTY intruder circa 6131.5 is also gone, hope for good (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4814.97, Dec 1 at 0143, preacher in Brazuguese, S8 but with CODAR QRM; no doubt Rdif. Londrina. Several other 60m ZY carriers: 4845, 4925+, 5035, but not 4885; see 4985 log too (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 4985, Dec 1 at 0147, pop music at S8, // 11815 at S5, i.e. R. Brasil Central, Goiânia, Goiás (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 9664.97 approx., Dec 1 at 0124 as I tune in Voz Missionária, an English ID! ``A station of the Missionary System of Communications``, and a city name I can`t copy, 0125 back into Portuguese for TC as ``23 e 25 minutos`` --- so they are on DST of UT -2, and the national anthem I heard at 07 UT would be 5 am local, but still quite pre-dawn (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 9722.62, Dec 1 at 0128, Portuguese talk at S7 as Rádio RB2 continues to drift ever-downward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9540, Dec 1 at 0123, strong stray pulse jamming, maybe spur from the pileup on 9490, QRMing weaker 9535 RHC, tsk2, unless LSB employed to tune it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9420, Nov 30 at 2200, VOG is strong enough to break squelch on the BST-1 caradio memory scan, timesignal about 10 seconds late, full ID in Greek, more nice music. By 0120 Dec 1 it`s still on but VP at S6 on the NRD-545 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GUATEMALA. 4055.0, Dec 1 at 0140, R. Verdad, preacher in Spanish quoting Apocalipsis XIV:11; S9+20 with no ACI. Dr Madrid tells me they are involved in a project to set up relays of TGAV around the world on frequencies with a few kHz of 4055. That will be interesting: In such an isolated part of the spectrum, it could work without being squeezed by other broadcasters, but the concern is interfering with itself (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDIA [and non]. 6145.02, Dec 1 at 0156, RRI ROMANIA is wrapping up English hour to NAm, Goodbye, and IS, with QRM from S Asian music station under making fast SAH. 0157* RRI off, uncovering this, runs past 0200 with no break. HFCC shows it`s AIR Urdu service at 0000-0430, 250 kW, 282 degrees from Aligarh (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1140, Dec 1 at 0210, full ID from XEMR claiming 50 kW todo el día, ending with ``Manantial`` as in spring, source of salvation. Dominant signal, into hymn. It usually is atop, belying its alleged tangent-southwestward circle at night in NRC Pattern Book, vs daytime non-direxional. Mexican conditions may be above average, with bigsigs from 1570 XERF, 1050 XEG, 990 XET (but not 1220 XEB --- see USA: KZEE log) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Further updates to the ice storm outage reports, Nov 30:

In the check of OKC-area AM stations, I neglected to note that
1460, KZUE, El Reno, was still off
1220, KTLV, and 1400, KREF, are not normally audible here so can`t say about them one way or the other
1640, KZLS, still on but dead air at 2212, and still at 0205 Dec 1

Nov 30 after 2050 UT:
 92.5, KOMA is back ON
93.7, KSPI is on and seems full strength now
 94.7, KBRU is on
95.7, KXLS is on but dead air
96.9, KQOB is on but still dead air
98.1, WWLS is back on, but not 98.9 KYIS
100.5, KATT is off at 2056, and still off at 2211
101.9, KTST is on but weak
102.7, KJYO is on but weak
103.1, KOFM Enid, on but dead air
107.1, KNID North Enid, on but dead air
(Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Dec 1 at 0109, two JBA carriers, until the stronger one, R. Chaski, autocutsoff at 0112:35.5*, leaving BBC/UAE, 11.5 seconds later than 48 hours ago, or 5.75 later average (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 3299.0-USB, UT Tue Dec 1 at 0138, AF MARS net, at first VG signal from AFA4PM calling SEM1 (net designator, all fonetikally), asking if there are any relays; reply from AFA4NC, a YL voice, ``concluding initial roll call at 0138z``. Next station heard: AFA4IX. This sounds familiar: Google search on AFA4PM MARS leads back to previous logs of mine such as in DXLDs 14-09 and 15-42 recently, with AFA4PM in Tennessee, and last January on 3299.5-USB instead (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7489.84, Dec 1 at 0000, I`m tuned to WBCQ for the very last `Ramsey`s Roadhouse` program; fair signal but not enough to overcome local TV QRM on the R75. Preceded by a WBCQ content disclaimer presumably because of a sprinkling of naughty or swear words. First song is ``Dock of the Bay`` by Otis Redding, but show is more rambling by Ramsey than music. 0004 says it`s #284, final edition from the Tippecanoe River in Indiana. Acknowledges a postcard of Louisiana symbols from Matthew Oglethorpe in Shreveport (any relation to TV DXer Danny Oglethorpe there?), and song played was at his request. Another PC about the Wizard of Oz.

New show starting next week, Dec 7 (UT Dec 8) at same time will be called `Furthermore 29-54`, derived from the 29:54 length of each program, allowing 6 seconds for an ID afterwards. Address is P O Box 717, Monticello, IN 47960 (another Monticello, to WBCQ`s in Maine).

Hopes to keep getting help from John Carver in producing transitional material as has done for past six years. Acknowledges that his show was mentioned by gh on WOR last week. He listens Wednesdays at 5 pm ET on 7490; really enjoys it. Just started SWLing 8 years ago at age 62; finally, ``I think I understand Glenn Hauser``. Says he got a `new` FRG-7 receiver on E-Bay, but it`s a POS on MW, after trying several different antennas. (Well, mine is fine on MW: were you aware that there is a separate antenna terminal for MW?).

0015 plays ``Paradise``, title? of bluegrass tune. Plugs WBCQ for getting your own show on the radio, as he did with Audacity and a mike; something about drag racing in Indiana; laments a couple of SWLs who passed away this year but I couldn`t catch or recognize the names; and Ed Bolton of `Amos `n` Andy`; wrapup and finished by 0030. On the R-75 I first tuned to 7489.875, then 7489.865 sounded best, and finally 7489.840, so maybe WBCQ was drifting downward slightly. This in USB mode: I hardly ever listen in AM mode, as SSB is quieter and smoothes out the fading (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7730, Dec 1 at 0108, WRMI has reactivated this WOOB channel and put TruNews etc. on it, ex-7455 to get away from the RTTY QRM. Which has been there from before WYFR became WRMI a biyear ago, as I often noted, and couldn`t understand why they didn`t get off 7455 immediately.

Now 7730 is blasting in, S9+60, better than previous antenna for Latin America, which was moved to 5985. 7730 at 01-07 is WRMI-13 at 285 degrees, adding 00-01 & 07-08 on Mondays only for other programming.

I see another change in the frequency grid: WORLD OF RADIO on 5850, Sundays at 0900, WRMI-12 at 315 degrees across N America (and on to East Asia?). We had asked Jeff if he could get us back on 5850 to replace the Friday 2330 airing.

Also significant is rearranging the Radio France International relays in English on 11580: now daily except UT Mondays at 0200-0300; and 11580 still also during the 0100-0200 hour on Wed/Fri/Sat only. These are aimed 44 degrees toward Europe, and unfortunately usually fade down/out here before 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9975, Dec 1 at 0134, KVOH is S7 but just barely modulated with jazz; meanwhile 10000 WWV is inbooming at S9+25! Something`s amiss. However, neighbor Cairo 9964.6 is even weaker, JBA at S3, so they could do better via a KVOH relay. By 0222, 9975 is JBM at S6, while 9955 WRMI has surged to S9+30! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1220, Dec 1 at 0208 UT, South Asian songs dominating, vs multiple SAHs, but nothing from alleged 100 kW XEB detectable. This from south is certainly The Metroplex`s KZEE Weatherford TX, 1600/200 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1521.0, Dec 1 at 0206, JBA het audible against KOKC. I have little doubt it`s 2-megawatt BSKSA, but should keep filing it as unID lest I miss it in excerpting MW log reports (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7718-USB, Dec 1 at 0219, 2-way in Spanish, splatter from 7730 intruder WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9910.00-AM, Dec 1 at 0129, tone test. Before I can estimate its pitch, but somewhere around 1 kHz, stops at 0130 and starts saying ``Alfa, Delta, ----`` repeated slowly several times during following minute, with pauses. Third word something like ``baze``? not another Greek letter. Hard to be sure with so little to go on, but could have been with a German accent (or for that matter, German to start with). 0131 dead air past 0133+ when I move on; it`s S7 with flutter. Next check sometime after 0200, no more such signal. Ideas? Nothing in HFCC, Aoki or EiBi to account for this; no regular broadcasters scheduled. One hit searching 9910 on hfunderground:
