Glenn Hauser logs December 5, 2015 [more]

** ANGUILLA [non]. 6090, Dec 5 at 0611, Caribbean Beacon is OFF; unfortunately, nothing else audible, such as Nigeria, Ethiopia; Brasil [Bandeirantes extinct] or Chile [Temuco, should you believe Aoki that it`s really on the air, 24 hours].

CB day frequency 11775 also off Dec 6 at 1710 check (RHC inbooming on 11760). That should open up 11775 for Algeria via FRANCE at 19-21, but not much else. Hope 6090 is still off early UT Sunday when Ethiopia or Nigeria might make it.

Or not: Wolfgang Büschel recently reported: ``NIGERIA [non!] Once again looked out for Radio Kaduna Nigeria on 6089.855v kHz. But negative this morning, no signal on lower sideband of 6090 kHz. So, seemingly - another shortwave broadcast station HAS GONE FOR EVER. Nothing heard from Radio Kaduna anymore, at least since mid 13th! / end of August 2015 (wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews Dec 3)``

R. Amhara, Ethiopia, nominal morning sked is 03-06 UT, but would likely fade out before 06 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** AUSTRALIA. 4910, Dec 5 at 1332, very poor signal on R75 with M&W talk seemingly English, where nothing is usually heard. Must be VL8T, Tennant Creek, NT, having failed to make switch from 2325 at usual 0830. Then using the FRG-7 for // check, match to 4835 Alice which is always on 60m.

Later, 4910 reports also received from Ron Howard in CA, Art Delibert in MD, Walt Salmaniw in BC, on air long before and after I heard it. I also checked 120m, and heard a JBA carrier at 1337 on 2485, Katherine, but nothing on 2325. Doubt this is a permanent change rather than aberration, but time will tell (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** JAPAN. 5006, Dec 5 at 1338, JBA continuous AM carrier here (not 5005) on 60m bandscan, as often detectable. I assume it must be the experimental station in Japan, which does not qualify as a broadcaster for WRTH. Aoki shows:

5006 HFD Radio Station 0000-2400 1234567 H3A 0.2 ND Tokyo-Chofu J 3539N 13932E JG2XA // 8006

So what kind of ``programming`` is there? IIRC it`s for propagation research. Only 200 watts! Here`s a report from late 2013 as in DXLD 14-02:

``JAPAN. 5006, 1801-, JG2XA, Dec 28. Pretty strong carrier, and very weak CW audible at the top of each minute. // 8006 as well. Tried various modes to hear the CW better, but to no avail (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, Haida Gwaii, BC, dxldyg via DX LISTENING DIGEST)`` (Glenn Hauser, Dec 5, 2015, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 1120, Dec 5 at 1400 UT, ``La Diferente`` seems to do a call-letter ID at hourtop amid music, pronounced in Spanish with a ``ka``, but I just can`t copy it; does not, however, sound like KETU! Another try, listening closely from 1757 UT, romantic Xmas song about ``noche-buena``, 1758 UT ads for Super-Mercado Las Américas with specific specials pricing, then singing ad for Mariscos La Primerísima (seafood restaurant); 1759 ``Llegó a Tulsa La Diferente, 11-20 AM`` and NO legal ID yet again! Into another navidad song, with ``felicidades``. Eventually I hope to catch them at random time if not hourtop with call-letter ID (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 17, K17JN-D, Enid, first found 6 days ago to be on air with six also 17- subchannels, has continued ever since with local-quality signal, but no modulation beyond black, fooling the Zenith STB into thinking there is ``NO SIGNAL``. When will it come to life? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, Dec 5, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ROMANIA. 6035-6040-6045, Dec 5 at 0616, DRM noise; strange I had not noticed this before, but it`s RRI scheduled 0600-0627 in French, 90 kW at 285 degrees from Galbeni (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY [and non]. 12035, Sat Dec 5 at 1340, VOT English poor signal going from news to press review; 1347:30 theme and opening ``Letterbox Program``, reading and replying to reception reports; thus confirming this as an on-week for fortnightly program, as in DX/SWL/Media Programs just updated at
where I had the nominal time as 1352-1404 and correspondingly for the repeat broadcasts; I`ve moved that 5 minutes earlier, tho the exact span certainly varies. We should hear it better Sat 2317 on 5960, UT Sun 0417 on 9655. Too bad there is no longer a `DX Corner` to alternate with it. Back to the present:

12035 still on at 1426 with IS and IDs in unknown Turkic language, oh oh, Emirler operator running late again as should have brought up next frequency by now. 1430 accurate timesignal and opening presumed Kazakh supposed to be on 9785, until 12035 cuts off at 1430:25.5*. Then at 1431 I check 9785 and something is there but doubt it can be VOT yet, presumably CNR8 Beijing in Korean as in Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. 6080, Sat Dec 5 at 0612, Cuban pulse jamming spur and weak rock music, presumably VOA, so scheduled São Tomé site is now on air? But from *0613 strong open carrier from Greenville overcomes it, warming up for the 0630-0700 segment only (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5830, Dec 5 at 0621, open carrier, dead air from WTWW-1 instead of dead PPP (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1260, Dec 5 at 1356 UT, Mexican music loops NE/SW; 1357 UT super-hype voice actor (SHVA) ID with slogan but can`t copy details other than ``--- del cuadrante y nada más``. It`s surely the one for Des Moines (De Los Monjes), Iowa, KDLF Boone, whose 5 kW day pattern is circular tangent to the southwest, optimum for us. NRC AM Log calls it ``La Reina`` with 33 watts ND at night, 112 watts PSRA. Official sunrise today was 1330 UT (January: 1345 UT) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1280, Dec 5 at 1339 UT, ``103-3 The Mix`` non-IDs, from KSOK Arkansas City KS on groundwave. Per original report in DXLD 15-37, it`s got two exxes, ``The Mixx``, but hard to tell by hearing. 103.3 is a mere translator, allowing the tail to wag the dog (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
