** ANGUILLA. 11775, April 22 at 1347, PMS is audible, only fair signal with LAH
and CCI, presumably India. CBB had been missing for a week or more, again making
us wonder if it`s gone for good. 6090 also back on air with DGS at 0703 April
23. And 11775 again with PMS at 1353 April 23, fast SAH. Suspect CBB is not up
to full 100 kW power on 25m, tho 49m is plentiful (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF
RADIO 1770, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** AUSTRALIA. 15415, April 22 at 0625,
R. Australia is playing IS ``Waltzing Matilda`` over and over here past 0631,
while the other two frequencies, better for us anyway, 17840 and 15240 are in
normal programming, `Late Night Live`. Then arrived reports from many other
monitors about this, same thing on 12065, same transmitter after 0900, even past
1900 UT! S. Hasegawa reports to the DXLDyg: ``Returned to normal at about 0200
UT [April 23]. de Hiroshi. Japanese DXer received the email "that was a
switching error" from Radio Australia``. Which means this was going on for at
least 19.5 hours! And nobody at the station noticed! Next night at 0655, 15415
with `LNL`, unMatildaed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1770, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** BRAZIL [and non]. 11710, 11745 & 11815, April 23 at 0653
check, crackling spurs from 11780.1v RNA/RNB are worse than usual. The 11745 one
is bothering Arabic on 11740, which is VATICAN direct (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA. 18990, Wed April 22 at 1348, noise jamming,
in addition to CNR1 // 11785. At 1400 still hear the noise, but CNR1 is
off.
19000, Thu April 23 at 1357, CNR1 jammer // 11785, maybe some other
audio too. 19000 is registered as the Thursday-only frequency at 13-14 of RFA
Tibetan via Kuwait. 18990 as the Wednesday & Saturday jumparound frequency
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 15730, April 22 at 1359,
RHC back on here, and not on 15340, as mistaken 24 hours earlier.
6000,
April 23 at 0700, RHC in Spanish until 0701*, presumably just a tail after the
English service; meanwhile the other English frequencies stay on a while longer
past 0702 with open carriers, 6060, 6100, 6165 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CUBA [and non]. 7405, April 23 at 0657, wall-of-noise jamming
from the DentroCuban Jamming Command is not enough to prevent me from hearing R.
Martí explaining exact receiving antenna dimensions ideal for its different SW
and MW frequencies. Probably more detail than really necessary, but when you`re
jammed, every little bit may help. 0659 announcing RM frequencies now as 5980
& 6030, and 7405 cuts off promptly at 0700* while the jamming continues a
while longer. The other two frequencies are already jammed (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE [and non]. 17850, April 22 at 1921, I can
tell RFI is on here, but under heavy ACI from 17855 much stronger REE SPAIN.
HFCC shows RFI scheduled at 18-20, and REE from 20 on weekdays --- but REE times
are erroneous, in local UT+2 rather than UT, so really also starting at 1800!!
Meanwhile, dozens of unused frequencies are available on the 16m band. Such
incompetence! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** IRAN. 15300,
April 22 at 1421, IRIB IS, fair with flutter, 1423 ID and sign-on in Hindi, NA,
500 kW, 109 degrees from Kamalabad (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** NIGERIA. 15120, April 22 at 0627, VON with fair AM signal but
just barely modulated, presumably English (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 1230, April 23 at 0707 UT, weather and ID for WBBZ,
Ponca City. Altho WBBZ is our daytime groundwave semi-local, unusual for it to
be audible in the middle of the night against hundreds of other but further
stations (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SERBIA [non]. News
has emerged that International Radio Serbia will be closed down June 30. Another
country gone from SW (and nothing to remain online either, evidently). Ivo
Ivanov then posted their ``complete`` schedule, including a North American
service in Serbian and English at 0000-0130 on 9685.
As I have mentioned
a number of times, the 9685 broadcasts to North America are IMAGINARY. They keep
putting these on their schedules, (6190 in B-seasons) but they have been off for
YEARS. So I can`t feel too sad about the situation. They cut us off even while
they remained on air to Europe, pretending to maintain a North American
service!
Just to be certain, I check after 0000 UT April 23 and NOTHING
on 9685. Those on the east coast may be able to get the English on 6100 at 2200
in winter, but not much out here, especially not at 2100 in summer (Glenn
Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1770, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U K [and non].
15105, April 22 at 0625, BBCWS good in English, interviewing woman who produced
a 52-page comic book, // better 7445 Ascension. I figure 15105 would also be
Ascension, but HFCC shows Woofferton at 06-07, 250 kW, 158 degrees. 15105 is
Ascension in the 1800/2030 span (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U K [non]. 15420, Thursday April 23 at 1355, ``This is the
BBC; no programmmes on this channel at present; details of all our services are
at bbcworldservice.com`` along with jingle, long pauses and repeating. How
thoughtful of them to inform us of this fact! Yet so many other frequencies with
no BBC programming bear no such announcements. 15420 via SOUTH AFRICA, the
Somali service is supposed to start at 1400 daily except 1300 on Saturdays
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1769
monitoring: confirmed Wednesday April 22 at 1315, fair signal on WRMI 9955. Next
airing missed, Wed Apr 22 on WBCQ 7490, as checked on webcast, instead ``you`re
listening to Zombo, in your turds`` Star Wars and other music fill. This was
probably caused by lack of a proper link to the latest WOR as set up in the
automation. 1769 also replayed at 0330 UT Thursday April 23 on WRMI 9955, as
1770 was not quite ready.
WORLD OF RADIO 1770 monitoring: First airing

** U S A. 13564, April 23 at 1350, HIFER beacon
GNK is audible with slow CW IDs, fading out and in to fully readable peaks.
Rechecking the LWCA HIFER list,
for
the frequency of GNK, Madison WI, it`s shown as 13563.99 ---
More
importantly I see that my previous unID is now identified!
V1RGO/B is in East
Haven CT, 13562~, 7 wpm CW.
Meanwhile, missing from this list is K6FRC in
California, which I recently heard again (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING

** U S A. 5850, Tuesday April 21 at 2259 I`m listening to WRMI as
a Rudy Espinal ID fires at 2259:30, 2300 brief Global 24 ID and opening
`Democracy Now`. I`m determined to discover whether this is really today`s
edition or an old one. Amy doesn`t mention the date at the head of each
broadcast, apparently inconceivable to her that some affiliate would be airing
old shows instead of new ones.
Lead story is about Richard Engel, NBC
News. Another headline is Glen(n?) Ford being freed from death row, which is
what I heard at the tail of a previous monitorage. Next day I check out the
audio archive at http://www.democracynow.org and find that
this certainly is not the April 21 edition; nor April 20, but it *is* the
Friday, April 17 edition, now 4 days old!
About Engel, the details of
this story, audio and transcript:
Friday, April 17, 2015
Did NBC Cover Up
Role of U.S.-Backed Free Syrian Army in 2012 Kidnapping of Richard Engel?

I suggest that assuring that the latest edition of any program, especially news,
goes on the air, is the minimum requirement for any radio service? (Glenn

** U S A. 1240, April 23 at 0706 UT,
`Red Eye Radio` opening another hour by exaggerated bass announcer, briefly
audible thru the graveyard pileup, peaks roughly E/W. If their website affiliate
list be correct,
the
nearest by far and therefore most likely source is: KLIK, Jefferson [City] MO.
Strangely, there are only four other 1240s listed, in MI, MN, NY, PA (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
