** ANGUILLA. 6090, April 20 at 0103, still no signal from CBB; has DGS finally
given up the ghost? Not on WWCR. Need to check 11775 weekdays in the 20-22 UT
period when Ivo Ivanov says WHRI is now on that frequency before 22 as well as
afterward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 11815 &
11745, April 19 at 2334, crackling spurs from 11780.1v RNA/RNB are already
audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 28475-USB,
April 19 at 2240, I`m checking 10m, since the 6m DX map is showing Es over
Mexico/USA, MUF 113 MHz (but no DX on FM here), F2 and/or TEP to South America
up to 50.1 MHz where a Chilean station is working North Americans. I have no 6m
receiver, but 10m is certainly open, only a few weaker signals I don`t pursue
besides this best one: PY5DD, calling CQ 10 and seemingly in a hurry but no
mention of a contest. Always gives his own call clearly fonetikally, but it`s
hard for him to copy that of his contact, an N0, so could be as close to me as
KS. By 2248 he`s working N9PCY in Indiana. Says his name is Edison (? a popular
given name among Brazilians). No, it`s per QRZ.com lookup:
PY5DD
ADILSON
BANIOGLI
PION. MITSUZUCHI TOKUDA 232 - JARDIM DOURADOS.
MARINGA, PARANA
87040590
Brazil
That`s in far southern Brasil, which is also a prime spot
for TEP DX on FM from the Caribbean. No SSB at all heard on a quick scan of the
12m hamband; I don`t even bother with 11m CB (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 11935, April 20 at 0058, open carrier/dead air,
presumed R. Cairo back on frequency instead of 11913 last night. JBA modulation
underneath it and a JBA LAH, presumably from RB2, Brasil.
12070, April 20
at 0059, R. Cairo good signal with Qur`an, slightly distorted but not
undermodulated
9315, April 20 at 0106, R. Cairo is on instead of missing
24 hours earlier, poor signal with hum, undermodulated Spanish //
12070
9965, April 20 at 0111, R. Cairo, Arabic, good with whine.
Wolfgang Büschel was monitoring R. Cairo about the same time, via an SDR
in Boston and measured them: 12070.028; 9315.0; 9965.254; but no log of 11935v
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** PERU. 5980, April 20 at 0100,
JBA carrier from R. Chaski until cutoff at 0108:53.5*, which = 46.5 seconds
later than last check 8 nights ago, 0108:07* April 12, so averaging 5.8125
seconds later per night, right on schedule for the slipping autotimer (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SRI LANKA [and non]. 11905, April 20
at 0114 a JBA carrier from presumed CNR6 Beijing 491 site which starts in Amoy
at 0100, eclipsed by much stronger *0114:12.5 SLBC carrier, yet which itself
rates only very poor with flutter. Music prélude starts about 0114:47.5; 2+1
mistimesignal ends at 0115:19 as customary (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1769 monitoring: confirmed Sunday April
19 at 2100 on WRMI 15770, sufficient. At the start, 7570 too weak in the noise
level to tell if //, but by 2129, confirmed as not, with ETC instead = `End
Times Coming` as scheduled. WOR 1769 also confirmed Sunday April 19 at 2300 on
WRMI 11580, sufficient.
WOR 1769 also confirmed UT Monday April 20 at
0259 on Area 51 webcast and WBCQ 5110-, CUSB. Special play of previous WOR 1768
also confirmed following at 0330, compensation for replaying 1767 the week
before, instead of 1768. Wolfgang Büschel measured it: ``5109.729 cusb mode,
WBCQ noted at 0104 UT April 20``. Next:
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955
Wed 1315
WRMI 9955
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v
Thu 0330 WRMI 9955 [or 1770 if
ready in time]
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A.
11825, Sunday April 19 after 2200, Global 24 is again on air via WRMI, not
checked until 2226 when ``Horse with No Name`` fill music is playing, so unknown
what was on earlier. At 2239, interview about the blues, so must be BRI. At
2300, jazz, so `From the Left`; 2334 still jazz. And 0056 UT Monday April 20,
still jazz; 0140 UT, still jazz, with Raoul announcement. I wonder if it`s only
old repeats for him too? Apparently on for 3 hours straight this
time.
5850, Sunday April 19 at 2303, G24 via WRMI with `Democracy Now`,
the weekday leftward news hour playing again on a weekend. Current ToH news
topic is Iraqi PM visiting Washington, VP Biden. That was on Tuesday April 14,
so this repeat is apparently less than a week old (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 11520, April 20 at 0057 VG signal but dead
air. Perhaps WEWN is just making a QSY from 15610 day frequency in English? No,
11520 was supposed to start at 0000 per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 9930, April 20 at 0105, WTWW is on with VG signal,
country gospel music; also on 9475 with SFAW, and 12105 with alternate SFAW in
English. Unusual to hear all three transmitters at once. Should 9930 be on UT
Sundays in May as late as 0200, that will be a problem for The Mighty KBC on
summer frequency 9925 via Germany (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 1010, April 20 at 0124 UT, as I tune in, good carrier
in a pause, then undermodulated ID as ``KSIR, Brush-Fort Morgan`` and rejoin
ESPN Radio for Sunday Night Baseball. Dominates 1010 at the moment. Is 25000/280
watts U3, so still on day power, until 0130 UT per FCC (-0200 UT from May). NRC
AM Log shows prime identity is ``Farm Radio`` but also affiliated with ESPN.
From NE Colorado, both day and night patterns are tight to the E and WSW, not
favorable for here, but not exactly in a null. And KSIR carried WORLD OF RADIO
for a while several years ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
**
U S A. 1140, April 20 at 0120 UT, station stuck with 4 syllables looping over
and over; then dead air; 0121 recovers with 0122 ID as ``Radio Pentecoste``,
praise music. Seems SSW. I am expecting XEMR Monterrey NL, but lots of google
hits lead to SSE Fort Worth, and in fact per this:
the
FW station on 1140 is now known as Radio Pentecostes Cristo Vive, 24 hours. That
would be per NRC AM Log, KHFX, COL Cleburne TX, 5000/710 watts, SS:MEX format,
address way off in Round Rock near Austin. FCC AM Query confirms call is still
KHFX. Night pattern has a small lobe to the NW; day pattern major broad lobe to
the west, minor to the ENE, and nulls toward me NNW, and SSE. Official FCC
sunset in April is 0100 UT; May 0115 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
