** GOA [and non]. 11775, Feb 27 at 1420, PMS ANGUILLA mixing with an open
carrier making rapid SAH, presumably the AIR Nepali service at 1330-1430 via
Panaji, except failing to modulate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** GUYANA. 3290-, Feb 27 at 0654, Voice of Guyana attains
poor-fair carrier level, but just barely modulated, presumably with BBCWS (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KOREA SOUTH [non]. 9395, Fri Feb 27
at 1430, Global 24 via WRMI, with WRN ID and into KBS World Radio. This is
contrary to G24 sked at http://www.tinyurl.com/G24sked
which shows `Jazz from the Left` Fridays at 14-16 UT.
When is KBSWR
supposed to be on? It shows:
Sunday thru Friday 0900-1000
Monday 2000
(followed by Israel Radio and Vatican Radio until 2100)
Saturday 2100-2200.
KBS no doubt occupies various otherwise unspecified WRN blox, but when I
heard it is not even one of those. Anyhow, if you happen to catch it on 9395,
this is a great improvement over KBS direct to ``North America`` on 15575 at
1300-1400 which is subject to degraded or no propagation at least until
spring/summer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KUWAIT [non].
21540, Feb 27 at 1412, R. Kuwait still AWOL, while 21505 Riyadh continues to
propagate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SUDAN [and non].
15550, Feb 27 at 1523, surprised to hear no Radio Tamazuj, but the Sudanese tone
jammer is already on, messing with WJHR USB. No signal on 15400 either, both of
which had been VATICAN broadcasting Tamazuj without jamming at 1500-1530;
another SMG transmitter is as usual on 15100 with unreasonably big signal
relaying RVA in Filipino away from us, so it`s hardly accidental or a power
problem that 15400 & 15550 are missing. I hunt thru the entire 19m band and
do not find them anywhere else.
13800, however, is still on at 1525 with
R. Tamazuj, ID at 1529 closing and 1530 into R. Dabanga, only fair signal. Then
I go back to 15550 and find that has now come on with Dabanga too vs WJHR and
tone jamming which got a head start. 13800 is listed as MADAGASCAR at 1500-1600,
but the second half of Dabanga at 1600-1630 scheduled to switch back to Vatican,
unchecked today. Latest HFCC of Feb 27 shows SMG still supposed to be on 15400
and 15550 starting at 1500 thru March 28 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 9395, Feb 27 at 1520, Global 24 via WRMI apparently
just finished an unscheduled European News Net airing with their waltz theme,
into survivalist commercial. This is during the 14-16 Friday period when `Jazz
from the Left` is supposed to appear. See also KOREA SOUTH [non] (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17775, Feb 27 at 1414, KVOH signal has
built up to day level earlier than usual, but correlates with earlying sunrises
and westward ionization. However, from March 8 it will no doubt start signing on
an hour earlier at 1300, putting it back into the dark zone for starters (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17790, Feb 27 at 1414, gospel
music and not // 15770 or other Overcomer frequencies, so Radio Africa Network
via WRMI is back, after a bihour of BS yesterday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 9265, Feb 27 at 1519, no signal from WINB. Only a
biweek ago did they start broadcasting weekdays as early as 1400, with `Manning
Report`. Aha, a new sked dated March 1 has already been posted at http://www.winb.com/schedule.htm
showing
weekday start is now 1600, with `Classic Redneck Radio`, so Manning sure didn`t
last long --- found coverage was inadequate? What was it about? What else but,
as described in Wikipedia: ``Through the ATLAH church, Manning hosts an online
series called The Manning Report, which features criticism on such topics as the
negative influence of black celebrities, homosexuality and the alleged criminal
acts of current U.S. President Barack Obama.`` `TruNews` M-F at 19-20 is also
gone, replaced by `Voice of Evangelism`. No doubt there are further changes
amongst all the gospel huxters. Saturday start is now 1500; Sunday 1230.
Listened online to a minute of `Redneck` Feb 27 at 1652 --- it`s talk about
survivalism, stockpiling food so you don`t have to eat slugs out in the field!
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1530, Feb 27 at 0659
UT, Arkansas religious event calendar continues past 0700 UT, atop the BS from
WCKY, so it`s again the cheatin` KVDW England AR, 2.5 kW `daytimer`, for whom
breaking FCC rules and licensing is obviously no sin (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 1600, Feb 27 at 0657 UT, ID in passing as
KGYM, weather and local sports for Iowa. First I did double-take as sounded like
KGYN, which is already taken by 1210 Guymon OK. This on FRG-7 with E-W longwire;
surprised to have this dominating 1600 rather than St Louis or Denver or even
Vietnam [non]. Forget about my closest, KUSH Cushing OK, only 70 watts at night.
KGYM is 5/5 kW U2 in Cedar Rapids (which I cheekily abbr. ``CRap``).
``The Gym``, and guess what its format is? (hint: not nudism). This was
originally KCRG (as in channel ``9`` TV too) until Oct 20, 2006. Licensee is now
KZIA Inc., so is there a New Mexico connexion? Various NM stations have used
KZIA in the past, but let it go. Perhaps the Zia Pueblo objected, but the Zia
Sun Symbol has been adopted to represent NM as a whole. KZIA is currently an
unassigned call on AM, but it`s now the sibling CRap FM 102.9 with 100 kW. 1600
night pattern is a broad ellipse peaking northwest, maximum signal from W to NW
to NE, but we should be getting very little here to the SW, so really on ND day
pattern? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** VATICAN. See SUDAN
[and non], changes to relays of clandestines
UNIDENTIFIED. 17665, Feb 27
at 1413, open carrier, good and steady with lite fading, presumably Greenville B
again checking whether the transmitter will be OK for a later broadcast on
another nearby frequency. Typical behaviour around 9 am local as the day shift
starts? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
