Hannover Maker Faire 2019 special mediumwave broadcast

On the occasion of the big maker meeting in Hanover from 17 to 18 August, radio amateurs from OV Hannover (H13) will activate a medium wave transmitter as part of an event radio. With the approval of the responsible state media agency and Federal Network Agency, it works on 828 kHz with 100 mW ERP. The content is planned to present the event. There will be live interviews with visitors and in the run-up to several politicians greetings to speak, which are interspersed in the current program. As a small highlight, the technicians of the OV have come up with the idea of touching the carrier by ± 100 Hz with CW signals. This is not heard with a normal AM receiver, so do not bother. However, if you use a high-precision receiver and set the receive QRG and bandwidth correctly, you can hear CW. The signal - in other words: key pressed - is sent to 828 kHz plus 100 Hz. 828 kHz minus 100 Hz then represents the pause. Normally the BNetzA prescribes a frequency constancy of the carrier of ± 10 Hz. The request to extend this to ± 100 Hz to enable the CW broadcast was unbureaucratically complied with. It is also planned to run the station during the night from the 17th to the 18th and probably also in the night from the 18th to the 19th of August. Reception reports gladly accept the OV's assets. The antenna will be set up on the 12th of August and first tests and optimizations will be made from then on. A detailed report can be found in the September issue of CQ DL.
