** CUBA. 17730, Wed June 13 at 1406, S9+20 of dead air from RHC past 1411, but is the SSOB by far, >> 17775 KVOH, 17530 (IBB via Vatican runover? Or São Tomé supposed to be weekends only?). Per WRTH Update, and Aoki, RHC 17730 is supposed to keep Spanishing until 1500. Something`s always wrong at RHC.
13740, June 13 at 1411-1412+, CRI English with RHC Spanish audible underneath, adding up to S9+30/20, about 1 Hz apart, and with a squeal. Once again the incompetent RadioCuba have let two transmitters run at the same time on the same frequency with different programming. RHC Spanish is supposed to stop 13740 at 1400.
I had previously thought both were from same site, but now it`s totally unclear, researching conflicting info: Aoki/NDXC shows Quivicán for CRI but fails to list RHC at all on 13740. EiBi has Bejucal for RHC, but merely /CUB for CRI. EiBi key says /CUB means Quivicán (only). HFCC won`t be specific with HAB for CRI, and of course, RHC itself refuses to participate for fear of having to negotiate with yanquis. DXLD 18-15 had various versions of A-18 schedules, one showing Bejucal for RHC until 1400. And another from Ivo claiming 13740 is RHC Bauta but until 1500. WRTH A-18 Update has 13740 RHC until 1400 from Bejucal, but does not specify any frequency as Bauta, instead many others as HAB which apparently means to them Bauta, as opposed to any of the three sites. So this must mean that CRI at 1400 from HAB also means Bauta in particular. The WRTH book key to sites on page 660 indeed says HAB = Bauta (only). So the situation here is clear as mud. No FM spurblobs out of unrelated 13700 today. Anyhow, something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE. 11730, June 13 at 0551, awful loud S9+10 buzz, atop a trace of French talk. It`s definitely NHK as scheduled 0530-0600 via Issoudun; amid music cuts off at 0559:34*, the modulation stopping a split second before the carrier.
It`s incredible that a major SW transmission provider, MBR/TDF, would keep running a severely defective transmitter. People have been reporting it for many months, on various transmissions throughout the day. And customers such as NHK don`t know/don`t care, keep paying??? Other customers should beware! Demonstrates an extreme level of incompetence at Issoudun. Either they can`t tell it`s out of whack, or don`t care (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE. 11830, June 13 at 0600 brief open carrier, RFI signing on only English hour, then news headlines --- fortunately not the same buzzy transmitter which just closed on 11730. This one is much weaker too, only S5-S7. HFCC shows 11830 is 500 kW at 170 degrees on a #211 antenna; while 11730 was 500 kW at 190 degrees on a #157 antenna, quite a disparity. Of course, neither azimuth is much good for North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENNG DIGEST)
** NEW ZEALAND. 7425, June 13 at 1241, RNZI is S9+10 with discussion of dung beetles in Britain; 1257 closing `Discovery` from BBCWS, on the morality of killing insects, and part 2 to air next Thursday at 12:30 am on the `All-Night Programmme` [UT Wednesday 1230], and right into QSY announcement, retune to 5980, one tweet of the bellbird and off.
5980, June 13 at *1258:45 RNZI cuts on less than a minute later here with bellbird, after QSY from 7425 as promised --- so VG 9700 during this period yesterday was a one-day wonder, tsk2 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SAIPAN. 13790.035, June 13 at 0532, two carriers beating, JBA, one of them this far off. RFA Chinese via Agignan Point scheduled 03-07, plus ChiCom jammer. Are *any* Saipan transmitters on-frequency? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9395, June 13 at 1251, S9 of dead air from The Overcomer via WRMI. Must be a Walterboro source problem, as same dead air on 9330.064V WBCQ --- or maybe JBM. 1255 still dead. Perhaps some hanky-panky in the radio room again? 1335 recheck, a few raspy words from BS, then silence again; 1405 rerecheck, finally keeps modulating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** TINIAN. 9700, June 13 at 1241, RFA Khmer presumed the poor S3-S6 signal. Will it be crushed from 1259 by RNZI like must have happened yesterday? See NEW ZEALAND (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
