Russia deploys Murmansk jammer system at Baltic base
By BBC Monitoring
Russia is deploying the Murmansk-BN electronic warfare system to Kaliningrad Region, the website of pro-government Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on 26 April.
The system is capable of jamming military communications networks at ranges up to 5,000 km (in exception conditions, 8,000 km), the report said.
The first Murmansk systems were deployed in Kaliningrad, with the Baltic Fleet's 841st Separate Electronic Warfare Centre, at the end of last year, the report said.
Murmansk-BN is a short-wave shore-based electronic warfare system capable of electronic intelligence gathering (ELINT) missions, as well as intercepting and jamming signals in all shortwave bands, the report said.
