Glenn Hauser logs October 25-26-27, 2017

** ARGENTINA [non]. 7730, Oct 26 at 0633 check, Japanese talk, so RAE relay hour is back via WRMI, having defaulted to World Music fill 24 hours earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 17730, Oct 26 at 1408, RHC is dead air, but the SSOB; while 15370 is VG S9+20 and modulating to boot. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 12005, Oct 26 at 2318 and later chex, no signal from R. Cairo, scheduled 2215-0200 in Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish to South America, 250 kW, 241 degrees from Abis. I`m checking whether this exist, as B-17 change to 9420 would collide with Greece. 12005 could well be on and not propagating (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 11640, Oct 26 at 1421, few fluttery piano notes and off, but enough to recognize as VIRI IS: yes, Russian hour ending as scheduled, 500 kW, 336 degrees from Sirjan, aimed I suppose toward Moskva, and not too far off the azimuth USward far beyond (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6935-USB, Oct 25 at 2130 & 2142, pirate music at S6-S8. This thread says it`s Clever Name Radio again, 2107-2154*
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,38229.0.html
Except for someone in Denver, all the other reporters are east of me (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-USB, Oct 26 at 2309, pirate music, novelty song, S9+10, maybe Pink Floyd; recheck at 2320 I hear a couple notes and off. ACI soon leads to similar, maybe same station shifted to:

6935-USB, Oct 26 at 2321, more music; 2336, Synthyl announcements repeated, ``Good evening and welcome to Clever Name Radio [unreadable, something about ``recording device``], clevernameradio@hotmail.com `` After another tune, 2341 same ID again played about 11 times, the last half at sped-up pace, 2343 music.

These logs of 6935 were from as early as 2042 led from unID to Clever Name Radio, and someone in UK said at 2303-2316 it tried 6940 before going back to 6935.

** PERU. 4764, Oct 26 at 1105, no signal from Radio Huanta 2000, new frequency as 4764.06 reported by Dave Valko, PA based on ID by Don Moore currently visiting Perú, ex-4747v.

4764.06 approx., Oct 26 at 2344 JBA carrier vs CODAR at tune-in, but vanishes just as I almost finish measuring it; oh, back on or in at 2347, but too weak to justify further following. Did they bump the transmitter or deliberately change? Not a good idea if they plan to use it after Radio Progreso, Cuba comes on 4765 at *0030 (after DST: *0130). Could also face het from 4765 Tajikistan. Wolfgang Büschel is also monitoring this: ``checked tonight here in Germany, 2300 UT Oct 26, PERU, 4764.054, R Huanta 2000, Ayacucho, peak visible`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Oct 25 at 2331, JBA carrier from R. Chaski until autocutoff at 2333:17*; however another weaker carrier remains, maybe just from overload. That`s 13 seconds later than last check a binite ago, Oct 23 to 2333:02*, easily averaging 6.5 seconds later per.

5980, Oct 26 at 2313 shortly after starting my session, JBA carrier already audible, but I`m too busy with other things and miss the next chopoff circa 2333:23, not getting back on frequency until 2334, shux! I only have one or two more opps to catch it before Romania usurps 5980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13565, Oct 26 at 1416, K6FRC repeating CW beacon IDs barely audible, vs CODAR. This Californian, using a real ham call, continues to be the only one heard on this band, and this daypart seems best for it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 25000, Oct 26 at 2058, WWV is making it to S9 level, which if it happens this close, under 500 miles, must be sporadic E. MUF map shows some lower patches to the west, but not between here and Fort Collins. See also WHRI & WRMI logs on 21 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1901 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, City: St. Albert, Province: Alberta, Country: Canada. Hello Glen[n]: Heard and confirmed World of Radio, #1901, hearing at 1030, and ID at 1045 (55443), this was on 5850 kHz, on Oct 25 UT 2017. See you sometime down the log 100 shows and counting to reach #2000 edition, good health to you, don't strain your voice. Best regards, Richard, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Location: Backyard corner shaped lot with trees. Age: 54 years young``. Tnx, Richard for keeping track when I`m usually asleep.

Confirmed Wed Oct 25 at 2100 on WBCQ, 7490, good. Also confirmed Wed Oct 25 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9330.08v-CUSB, fair. After two no-shows of the new time for WOR appearing on the WRMI sked, Oct 12 & 19, Thu at 2230, I`m standing by for a third try Oct 26: VG carrier is on at 2229 tune-in, but remains silent. Finally at 2235, fade-up WOR 1901 in progress, down and up another time or two, and then stays up to 2259 over. Next:

** U S A. 17775, Oct 26 at 2055, KVOH extended Thursday broadcast benefits from VG signal, perhaps with sporadic E boost, and still no spur/noise field; off by 2100 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 21525, Oct 26 at 2057, WRMI Radio Africa inbooming, and so is 21610 WHRI, rather than JBA carriers with F2 MUF far below 21 MHz, so now there must be sporadic E boost, unusual for October. Yes, checked within a semihour, the 6m map shows a 31 MHz MUF patch around Memphis. But there is NO activity heard on the 21, 24 or 28 MHz hambands, nor 25-26 MHz linx, nor 27 MHz CB, as everybody apparently missed the opening. Should have been some contacts at least on ``15`` meters with those two loud and clear broadcasters, despite being somewhat more powerful at 100 and 250 kW.

Recheck 6m map circa 0100 Oct 27: big Es opening for hams across SE quadrant of USA, MUF 65 MHz, still not enough for FM, but channel 2 or 3 could be affected, so I watch snow in analog, and NO SIGNAL in DTV on channel 2. High winds here have briefly cut power four times this evening, line shorts upstream? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re my search for 1560 KGOW Bellaire TX now in Vietnamese, Stephen Luce, Houston, replies, ``Glenn, KGOW flipped to Vietnamese on October 1st. The previous sports format moved to translator K231CN on 94.1 FM. KGOW is still operating full time from its night site, so the former strong signal heading NNE from the day site during critical hours is no longer there`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1710, Oct 26 around 0630, JBA carrier; but at 1104, usual screaming preacher and crowd response from Radio Retén lo que Tienes, Bâton Rouge LA pirate (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED 5982.00-USB, Oct 26 at 2314, 2-way in colloquial Spanish, 2317 addressing ``compañeros`` but no swearwords made out. If only 5980 R. Chaski, Perú were putting in a signal this good (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6925-USB, Oct 26 at 2311, trace of talk, maybe R. Compañía Worldwide, Chilean pirate. 6925-LSB, Oct 26 at 2339, stronger 2-way in language sounds Brazuguese. From Chris Smolinski`s tips yesterday about this time, I`m looking for S American pirates, also on 6973 - nothing, and 5825 - nothing here. Also no show of RHC difference product on 6840 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 12001.60-USB, Oct 26 at 2318, 2-way in colloquial Spanish as I am checking for Cairo on 12005 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
