Glenn Hauser logs October 25, 2017

** BOLIVIA [non]. 5935, Oct 25 at 1203, JBA talk, now that WWCR has closed, no doubt TIBET at this hour. When did sun rise at Yura? 0946 UT per:
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/@3900882
2+ hours would really be pushing it for 49mb propagation, especially contra a 100 kW from Lhasa. Even when it`s an all-dark path before 2358, Yura is JBA carrier. Our SR/SS: 1248/2342 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CANADA. 1610, Oct 25 at 1213 UT, ending informaciones in Spanish; I keep hoping to hear something besides CHHA Toronto here, but followed by ad with 416 area-code which is as good as an ID. XEUACH is much desired, the only Mexican; in Spanish there are also Peruvians and Argentines per the BDXC X-band list copied into DXLD 17-41 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA [and non]. 9535, Oct 25 at 0632, oh2, RHC in English! This frequency is supposed to close at 0500 after Spanish, not the first time this has happened; weaker than // 6000, 6060, 6100, while 5040 is off and 6145/6165 is still gone, so surely transmitters to spare.

Now it`s colliding with Qur`an from Algeria via FRANCE underneath, which is supposed to be in clear on 9535, making SAH of about 3 Hz but not steady, probably due to slight Doppler variations in propagation of one or both. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. Re: ``6935-USB, Oct 23 at 2205, pirate music with very repetitive beat, almost disco; 2210 announcement over music, unseems ID. Still going past 2220 at S7-S9. Earlier than I usually patrol the band, but good thing I did since no pirates were logged in later hours by anyone this date, than Cool AM [sic] on 6935-USB per:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,38173.0.html
Gone by my next check at 2353 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)``

Chris Smolinski replies: ``99 44/100% sure this was Clever Name Radio. He is usually in 6940 USB or 6935 USB when 6940 is occupied with a ute. He's been fairly prolific recently, and often plays long stretches of music without IDs``

Altho subjected as Cool AM, one of the HFU posts said it was Cool AM being *relayed* by Clever Name; including IDs for Cool AM. how confusing (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1901 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday October 25 at 1315 on WRMI 9955, good signal, but pulse jamming, increasing as WRMI fades a bit. Tnx a lot, Arnie! WOR remains readable if you put up with the noise. Next:

** U S A. 7730, Oct 25 at 0635, WRMI with frantic steel drum tune, not what RAE would be playing in Japanese service scheduled this hour; 0640 segué to promotional song ``Cayman Holiday``. So WRMI has defaulted to World Music fill in absence of Argentina. But RAE is still showing on other transmissions, such as:

11580, Oct 25 at 1325, concluding RAE French ``à demain``, but really ``à la prochaine demi-heure`` since alone among RAE languages, this one is half an hour only, aired twice. It would make more sense for each pair to be one from today, one from yesterday rather than an immediate repeat, and could be as I have not compared them. Also 11580, Oct 25 at 1428 check still amid RAE Spanish hour (which RAE continues to ignore, be unaware of). I`ve also recently run across Italian after 22 on 11580 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5950, Wed Oct 25 at 1204, Ray Robinson is reading some historical script, so got to be AWR Wavescan via WRMI --- strikes me as unsked time: yes, DX PROGRAMS shows it at 1130 instead; and WRMI skedgrid does not even show 5950 on the air after 1200, but 1130 as Radio Praga from WRMI-14 at 181 degrees. However, the program schedules below the frequency grid do show 5950 extended 1200-1230 with WS on Wed & Sun, also other DX programs, Frecuencia al Día, Antena DX and some other variety (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1560, Oct 25 at 1216 UT, promo for something at 4 pm on KLNG, Christian stuff. I am here trying to dig some Vietnamese out of the QRM, as NRC DX News reports that KGOW Bellaire TX has flipped to that from sports in English! But no sign of it.

KLNG is plenty strong like the 10 kW ND daytimer it is from Council Bluffs IA. Trouble is, official October sunrise per FCC AM Query is not until 1230 UT (November: 1315 UT), after which for two Critical Hours it is supposedly restricted to 2.1 kW. If anything at this hour, it should be running PSRA (pre-sunrise authority) of only 1.32 watts --- yes, that is one-point-three-two watts as in NRC AM Log! Clearly not worth bothering with, so why wait if you are one of God`s stations above the Laws of Man? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
