Glenn Hauser logs July 31-August 1, 2016

** BRAZIL. 11972 & 11876 approx., July 31 at 0556, weak but detectable scratchy spurblobs // 11780 RNA. That makes +96 and +192 (2 x 96) kHz above. So check for more like that below: yes, approx. 11684 and 11588 kHz. The ones further out are even weaker. Meanwhile, RNA`s other intentional frequency 6180 is still off at 0144 August 1 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 9680, Sunday July 31 at 1329, S4-S8, sounds like gospel music? I almost thought I had Voice of Hope - Africa, Zambia, via long path until Chinese talk started at 1330. So still the China/Taiwan Radio War blocking until 1400, while VOHA continues to 1700 on weekends only. At 1357 the Chinese is // 11785 CNR1; 1400 timesignal and one station goes off, by 1401 some talk at S5-S7; by 1412 JBA carrier, maybe Zambia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EAST TURKISTAN. 13599.98, August 1 at 0158, soft instrumental music, VP S2, could be something more interesting than 0200 CRI theme and opening unknown language: Tamil via Kashi per Aoki, while preceded until 0157 by Russian via Xi`an (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 710-, August 1 at 0213, audible het on low side against KCMO also looping NE/SW, presumably XEDP, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, employing its off-frequency transmitter/site (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MOROCCO. 9575, July 31 at 0605, S6 signal just barely modulated, presumably Radio Médi 1, active but more insufficient than usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7245-AM, July 31 at 1255, music fair at USB, but QRhaM on LSB. Must be RNZI on its new frequency, ex-9700 which was vacant at 1255 for this bi-hour segment toward PNG. IIRC, 7245 was previously used several years ago. By next check 1258* it`s off, and by *1259, next channel, unchanged 6170 is on with Bell Bird IS. It starts off at S9+10 with 1300 RNZ news, but we know it will be steadily fading down and out after sunrise here. As I had posted to the DXLD yg:

Notably new is 7245, replacing 9700 when it used to serve North America well until 1058. Only the `PNG` target is on the NNW instead of NNE antenna

15720, August 1 at 0202, that deep-voiced Caribbean newscaster of BBCWS which must be relayed by RNZI now; 0204 mid-cast ID for `World News from the BBC`, and ending ID at 0206, on into `Newsday`; S5 but quite readable, unlike any possible BBCWS SW frequency of its own (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 780, August 1 at 0214 UT, KSPI Stillwater daytimer open carrier still on, and can hear WBBM only by nulling it (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OMAN. 11650, August 1 at 0153, ME music, VP at S2, and suffering splatter from that terrible transmitter of RHC on 11670; presumed R. Sultanate of Oman, and several others have reported it around this time despite 11650 not being registered by them for A-16 season, instead lots of imaginaries; but Aoki has it here at 22-02 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** UGANDA [non]. 15240, Sunday July 31 at 1740 check, WWRB with Radio Munansi in Luganda(?) talking about Pres. Muséveni, VG signal (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1836 monitoring: confirmed Sunday July 31 at 2330 on WBCQ 9329.981-CUSB. NOT confirmed an hour later, UT Monday August 1 after 0030 on WRMI 7730, because it`s off the air (all other WRMI frequencies are on, as is 7730 by 0135 check with BS).

Also confirmed UT Monday August 1 from 0301 on Area 51 webcast, and at 0323 check on WBCQ 5129.9-AM, fair. (Could not detect any signal around 3250 during Johnny Lightning at 0136). WOR also confirmed UT Monday August 1 after 0330 on WRMI webcast, and at 0350 on 9955, good S9+20. Next:
Mon 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100   WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130   WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100   WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW

BTW, Unique Radio, NSW, low power on 3210 says it is back on the air, so four WOR airings will be resumed on the schedule from next week, Fri-Sat-Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7504.9v, August 1 at 0135, WRNO is on with non-Mawire preacher, drifting slowly upwards (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5050, UT Monday August 1 at 0226, WWRB is S9+40 but dead air until canned YL ID at 0229, and 0230 start another YL gospel huxter from Memphis? TN, but cut off the air shortly; restarted a playback by mistake? It`s consistently on the air also UT Tuesdays, then off until UT Sundays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 810, August 1 at 0215 UT, romantic music in Spanish loops east-west, which rules out México and makes it very likely New Mexico`s KSWV Santa Fe. Dominant signal making fast SAH with something, CO or MO? Segués 0216 UT, 0220 UT with no announcements at all, but the final tune cut short at 0221 UT to dead air, 0223 UT off the air. Or rather maybe cut from 5000 to 10 watts night power U1 per NRC AM Log. FCC official July sunset was 0215 UT; August: 0200 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 6205.07-AM, August 1 at 0228, JBA carrier under S7 noise level, maybe music. Must be too weak for another spurblob instead of missing RNA Brasil 6180; 6205 is a hangout for Europirates, sometimes making it to eastern North America. No reports tonight on HF Underground, but Coast FM has been heard recently as late as 0125, and on 6205.1:
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
