Glenn Hauser logs January 1-2, 2022

** BRAZIL. 9666.546, Jan 2 at 0722, RVM continues upward drift, S6/S8 music. My last measurement was 9666.468, Dec 29 at 0311, just over 100 hours ago, up 78 Hz, or .78 Hz/hour, or averaging 18.72 Hz/day (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5025, Jan 2 at 0727, R. Rebelde is back on with music, S9+10/20 after AWOL 24 hours ago (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 12000, Jan 2 at 0425, RHC English is S9 but undermodulated VP on 2 x 6000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) See also TURKEY [and non]

** CUBA. 6100, Jan 2 at 0731, S9/+10 RHC English is buried by its own humbuzz, which is usually found on 6060, no doubt same transmitter but by now no other frequencies are on. Maybe this one remain pending weekly Esperanto at 0800 Sunday. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 350 MCW kHz, Jan 2 at 1523 UT, NO signal from RG, ND beacon at Will RoGers World Airport, OKC. This has been a very reliable constant `local`, more so than other Okies and Kansies: not my receiver as 515 PN Ponca City still in well; KS on 332, 395. Maybe due to extreme cold snap in OKC: WRWA low a sesquihour earlier was 12F. Still off at 1818 UT Jan 2 (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9700, Jan 2 at 0357, RHC is S7/S9 with undermodulated music // 6000 English service. At *0358 hit by fast SAH from VOT IS, as now the two are colliding about equally, TRT starting a 2-sesquihour transmission in Turkish thisaway. Something`s equally erroneous at both stations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 11815, Jan 2 at 1601, Turkish news? S9/S6 with flutter. VOT still here, not 11810 as someone reported. Way over trace of Japan co-channel (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 397 MCW kHz, Jan 2 at 0739 UT, JBA ND beacon seems like CIT, tho last letter uncertain. It`s really CIR, 25 watts in Cairo IL. RNA notes: ``20181130 - Bill Stewart reports a 'hic-up' on the 'R'. Often sounds like CIN`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Re 486 kHz, WI2XLQ, On the IRCA iog, Kraig W Krist says: ``Reception report, including brief recording of ID, emailed to Brain. Already received an email confirmation of reception. I actually heard transmission on 485.951 kHz. Brain admitted transmitter varies a bit. He wrote the following.

"The MOPA rig does drift a few hundred hertz every 4 to 6 hrs. If I’m in the shack and see the freq counter or waterfall display is >150Hz off from 486, I just give the “wavelength” control a fine trim to get it back on 486. It’s a 1921 design (wavelength back then, not frequency!) and I’m happy the thing stays as stable as it does given it’s just an LC tank with a UV-201A tube as the oscillator. The L is just cloth covered wire wrapped on a cardboard tube mounted on ceramic standoffs to the wooden chassis. "

I've created a QSL card for Brian to use when confirming reception of WI2XLQ. To see the WI2XLQ QSL for the December 31, 2021/January 1, 2022 transmission on 486 kHz, go to the USA section of http://www.kg4lac.com. For those having heard the transmission commemorating Reginald Fessenden's accomplishments send a valid reception report to Brian Justin, WA1ZMS, using wa1zms@att.net. 73, Kraig, KG4LAC`` (via Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 2097.3 CW kHz, Jan 2 at 0720 UT, one-letter beacon, A, is JBA every dekasecond vs noise level, as it has consistently been lately, from anywhere but Quartzsite AZ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2119 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday January 2 at 0030 on WRMI 7730; at 0048 via Knoxville SDR S8/9

Also confirmed UT Sunday January 2 at 0452 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, MO, S9+10 into nearby KiwiSDR, about 4 minutes into so started late circa 0448.

** U S A. 5950, UT Sunday January 2 at 0030-0045, new show debut on WRMI, `Postcard Panorama`. Tammy Walker mixes poetry with radio stuff, interesting combination with listener input. Last several minutes turned over to the voice of DJ Roseanna of Radio Northern Europe International; checking her website http://rnei.org I find among other things some stats we don`t see elsewhere concerning WRMI, here concerning boresights of the NW and NE beams:

5850 KHz (2.378 Megawatts EIRP) AM – Targeting the USA and Canada, 7780 KHz (3.28 Megawatts EIRP) AM – Targeting North-East coast America and Northern Europe, Note: EIRP levels are calculated based on the ERP information from the transmission companies``

As for `Postcard Panorama`, this is the only known airtime, but I have the impression there may be one new show per month, repeated weekly.
Anyhow, each month, not week, has its own theme. See: https://www.postcardpanorama.com/

** VATICAN. 13830, Jan 2 at 1527, S Asian? song, S9/+10, announcement and 1528 VR IS, 1530 ID ``Ye ---`` mentions Ethiopia. This is VR Amharic at 1530-1500 from SMG site, but no other language from it or anywhere is scheduled before 1530. Remarkable signal, about the same as 13820 Marti, another example of VR capability to serve far from its intended targets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
