Glenn Hauser logs September 28-29, 2020

** BRAZIL. 11780, Sept 28 at 2048, RNA at S4-S5 with music, distorted as usual. DRM promoters were in contact with someone who was going to notify the Rodeador engineer about this, which should not have been necessary and bodes ill for their handling of DRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Sept 29 at 1355: not even JBA WOOB carriers found in the 13s, 12s, 11s or 10s. Propagation continues degraded: K-index 3 at 1200 and 1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 29 at 0110, anonymous mystery missionary station is on again for second night, S9 into TWR Bonaire SDR showing characteristic carrier offset varying slightly around -4.9 Hz, YL gospel huxtress in Spanish. 0200 now OM g.h. with never ID break, S9/+10, -4.9 Hz. For kix, I run a TDOA at 0206, using Bonaire and DR SDRs which come up with 15N/92W = San Pablo, SW Guatemala, west of Q-tenango! Later another run lands in Chile! 0326 now a hymn. 0328, auto-timecheck as 11:28, which is UT-4, now correct, for Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, DR, western Brasil, back to predication citing Lucas. 0439 still going with tropicalmusic; background music to talk before and after 0500 are Xmas carols, Venid, Fieles Todos, y Noche de Paz: `tisn`t the season. Back at 0250 checked 4940 direct and had a JBA signal, accompanied by weaker Spanish 2-way about 4941.75-USB, cambio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Sept 29 at 0032, again no signal from R. Progreso --- but cuts on at *0032.7, S9+10/20 but just barely modulated. 0109 recheck now weaker S9 but more mod; can`t have everything. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 410-MCW kHz, Sept 29 at 0646 UT, ND beacon BA, which is 25 watts from Columbus - Clifford, Indiana. I was tuned to 408-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 475-CW kHz, Sept 29 at 0650 UT, Dave Frantz`s BEACON at WWRB Manchester TN, very slow Morse loop starts out WWW rather than VVV, WA4SZE, also with COM. Fades down before can copy it all. This is the recent ``630-meter`` ham band, only 472-479 kHz and secondary to maritime, as explained at

http://www.arrl.org/news/fcc-proposes-to-permit-amateur-access-to-2200-and-630-meters (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2053 monitoring: local power failure, again at same transformer, Mon Sept 28 at 1718 UT prevented remote monitoring of 1801 UT on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria; did anyone hear it?

Confirmed UT Tue Sept 29 at 0106 the 0100 on WRMI 7780, poor S9/+10 direct and undermodulated; 0122 check, NO signal unusually into UTwente, in degraded propagation, but VG S9+10 at Maine SDR.

Missed checking 0330 UT Tue Sept 29 on WRMI 5800; anyone hear it?

Contributions may alternatively be sent via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily US funds as PP will convert. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, UT Tue Sept 29 at 0130, WRMI following WORLD OF RADIO I keep listening via Maine SDR, and instead of scheduled one of dozens of weekly repeats of `Wavescan` there is a strange show billed as ``the first shortwave broadcast of WVDC International, a pilot, hope you enjoy the music`` by announcer without a downunder accent; 0138 breaks for some SSTV. I remember the same anomaly from about 6 months ago during this semihour altho did not get a WVDC ID then. Nothing about it on WRMI website or FB. Now I go searching and find: https://chirpie2014.wixsite.com/wvdc which is orthographically challenged, and quote parts of it [sic]:

``WVDC --- G'day How Ya goin we are brodcastin from the USA hope you have fun cheers - Timmy H --- Best classic hits from USA Australia New Zealand and more on 100.7 FM and news on our live stream --- You may wonder How your supposed to here us ? you can here our classic hit station on 91.3 FM but not far its part 15 station --- can i here you out of our coverage area ? how to lession to us --- yes you can here our international station by stream and phone but we only do news on there and animal radio its 24/7 AT https://zeno.fm/WVDCradio OR BY phone broadcast at 1-667-930-9246``

However, no stream will play and number in the URL implies it originated in 2014y. But autolinx to current propagation info and weather in Auckland NZ. A really strange website. HP link to Spanish goes nowhere.

Area code 667 is around Baltimore, Maryland. WVDC is not an FCC callsign for any licensed AM or FM station. What could WVDC mean? An ARRL abbr. list shows: ``working voltage, direct current``

WVDC first aired on WRMI last March; and as a pilot may be an orphan
file which keeps on playing back, every week? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7490v, UT Tue Sept 29 after 0000 on WBCQ I`m listening to `From the Isle of Music` with sufficient reception until it really drops out about 0032 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 29 at 0629: 621, 711, 774, 837, 846(TP), 882 kHz. Propagation remains degraded: K-index still 3 at 0600 after G1 storms with G2s predicted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
