** U S A. Regarding the late Justice Ginsburg being treated as if she were a Christian: among the wall-to-wall TV coverage, the crowd spontaneously gathered outside the SCOTUS building broke into hymn, `Amazing Grace`. This is one of the best-known Christian hymns, not ecumenical, Judeo-Christian, from its very origins in a conversion. https://www.learnreligions.com/amazing-grace-701274 However, the original lyrix do not mention J.C. at all, and thus could be taken as more generic. But is it ever sung in synagogues? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** VENEZUELA [non]. 600, VOA via R. Libertad, COLOMBIA: I have not monitored since its première UT Sept 16, but Don Moore now reports Sept 19:
``Colombia/Venezuela: There has been discussion in Cadena DX, the Latin American Facebook group, on the VOA programs via Radio Libertad 600 kHz in Barranquilla, Colombia. Santiago San Gil in Barinas wrote that normally Radio Libertad was received there with "acceptable signals" but that since the programs began there has been significant co-channel interference. Fernando Viloria in the coastal Venezuelan state of Carabobo says he has been hearing an unlisted station calling itself "Radio Verdad" and "La Emisora de la Alegría" on 600 kHz. The station has not announced a location. Several DXers wrote of tuning the Radio Libertad programs on the remote SDR in Bonaire. They report it is putting in a good signal to Bonaire. (Don Moore)``
A great many Venezuelan radio stations have gone off the air, tnx to government persecution and/or the economic situation. Was there ever a 600? Yes, first checking a WRTH 2014 at hand:
YVSW, 15 kW, R. Alto Llano, Sta Bárbara de Barinas. I wonder if SSG remembers that one? In fact only one of two MW stations in that state at that time.
YVSW also in WRTH 2005, when there was a second 600: YVQB, 10 kW, Radio Sucre, Cumaná, Sucre, whose address was in a building called Libertad.
In 2005 WRTH there were a number of stations around the country named Radio Alegría, or Radio Fe y Alegría, probably a group or network. Do not see any with Verdad in their names.
There may have been remnants of these outlets which could be pressed into jamming disservice in short order; or any MW transmitter could soon be retuned to 600. Connecting to a proper-wavelength antenna could be quite another matter (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
