Glenn Hauser logs September 2, 2020

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-CUSB, Sept 2 at 1450, LRA36 is on this Wednesday; neglected to check a week ago; via Brazil KiwiSDRs, S5-S7 talk at first, all Spanish about something in 1945y, arbor day and forestation which is probably not concerning Antarctica; via another remote only S1-S2 and starting to fade out by 1545; 1554 usual canned `Corazón Antártico` program ID and song, 1606 still audible but not at 1610, presumed off. Nominal 1400-1600, but Manuel Méndez, Spain says it opened around 1350; he too could only hear it via Brasil. At one point I downtuned to 15475.00, reconfirming on USB that there is still a reduced carrier. Presumably to be repeated circa same hours or later on Saturday, weather permitting (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Sept 2 at 1355-1400: nothing in the WOOBs of 13, 12, 11, 10 or 9 MHz, tuning past all the usual spots. K-index at 12 and 15 was 2, SF 70, no storms per WWV. This will present a problem for frequency-order editors, who have got to have some kHz to hang it on; even tho this obs of no signals heard is no less significant than when some are. Well: there was a JBA carrier on 9680 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Sept 2 at 0321, R. Progreso is still OFF; what`s wrong? Something, always at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6145, Sept 2 at 0330, RHC English is only S5-S8 and JBM, sounds like Arnie as to be expected for `DXers Unlimited`; while the only //, 6000 is S8-S9 and also just barely modulated, so listeners are out of luck until maybe some better frequency after 0500 such as 5040, 6100. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9790, Sept 2 at 0342, CRI Cantonese relay hour is only S7-S9 maybe due prop disturbance instead of blasting in, yet also open carrier/dead air. What a waste. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 5800, UT Wed Sept 2 at 0324, WRMI with R. República, and no jamming audible yet, tho the signal is quite strong even here, yet aimed SSE toward Cuba. Originally this extension after 9490 France to 0300-0400 was UT Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon only, so now 7 days? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 7275.057, Sept 2 at 0334, VOT English to us intruding into our 40m exclusive hamband, only S5-S9, JBA with Turkish music fill, and markedly off-frequency. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2049 monitoring, next:
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday  WRMI 7780 to NE
0130 UT Thursday  WRMI 5850 to NW & 5010 to S NEWs

** U S A. 9315-9345, Sept 2 at 0340, WLCR in British via WBCQ is splattering out to this range from S9+30/40 fundamental 9330. Seems to me this is excessive despite the very strong signal. Wondering if it`s 500 or only 250 kW, as some of the closer targets were so registered, I check HFCC, which displays imaginary info: Nothing on 9330 between 0100 and 0900, rather 6195 at 0300-0400 in German! Despite WBCQ-6 *never* able to reach any frequency but 9330 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7505, Sept 2 at 0321, WRNO is still OFF; what`s wrong? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. Correxion to last log of JBA 3945 harmonic carriers only, as Ron Howard points out, not X4 and X3 on 11835 & 7890, but X3 and X2. There is a X4 on 15780 not detectable here. How about further up in the closer daytime Pacific? Check 19725, 23670, 27615, 31560, etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 2 at 0310-0318 UT: 531, 549, 612(2), 621, 684(2), 711, 756(-)birdie?, 774(2, or beating against a birdie), 828, 837, 855, 891, 1044, 1098(2), *1107(2), 1125(2), 1134; none higher but the QRM splash is worst above the `clear` channels.

*1107 strongest of the lot so 0319 try for some audio, and detect a bit of music which is not coming from 1100 or 1110. Big gun on 1107 is 400 kW from Afghanistan, but far more likely are the five Radio 5 synchros from Spain ranging from 10 to 25 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 5780, Sept 2 at 0324, JBA carrier, as often detectable in our evenings. Suspected one of the Euro-pirates, such as Radio Harmony if it run all-night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
