Note: sporadic E VHF DX: logs of TV from Canada and Mexico, FM from USA not yet
compiled, to be in next report
** AUSTRALIA. 2485, June 16 at 1115,
Aussie M&W chatting, surprised at how well VL8K is coming thru, but no
signal at all on 2325 so VL8T is off? Nothing ever on 2310, since VL8A has been
stuck on 4835 for a few years, and sounds like same program there tho no attempt
to match //. WRTH 2015 page 81 still has VL8A on 2310 at 0830-2130, and on 4835
at 2130-0830 only! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL.
11710 & 11745 & 11815, June 17 at 0532, crackling spurs from 11780.1v
are still polluting the 25m band, and no one cares; except me who can only try
to shame them by repetitious reporting, as EBC have already been notified about
the problem several times in last months (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 11855+, June 18 at 0208, fair signal in Brazuguese
about Jesus, making LAH with much weaker on-frequency signal; seems // 9630v and
there is also a LAH on 6135 either with Bolivia or something else. The 25 and
49m frequencies of R. Aparecida had been reported off the air as of June 11 by
Cassiano Alves Macedo, Editor do Programa Encontro DX, in the radioescutas yg
which I just quoted on WORLD OF RADIO 1778; but now they are apparently back
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 6000, UT Wed June 17 at
0538, RHC `DXers Unlimited` is starting a bit late as I tune by, but Arnie says
it was recorded early so no propagation info. I quickly zone out and away, as if
he isn`t recycling old scripts, it sure sounds like it. (Normally I try to
withhold criticism of fellow DX program producers, but since he condones if not
facilitates jamming of my program, he gets no respect from me) (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CYPRUS [non]. 9955, June 16 at 1345, WRMI
with FG Radio, as the Famagusta Gazette has de-grandiosed itself from ``European
News Network``. After brief news about Greece`s dire situation, rest of program
is a reading of something by Robert Louis Stevenson! And it`s cut off incomplete
at 1359:30 so WRMI can ID and turn off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** EGYPT. 13850, June 18 at 0212, VG signal from R. Cairo, but
open carrier/dead air in Arabic, except for occasional traces of music spikes
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** FRANCE [non]. 11580, June 18
at 0130, WRMI with relay of RFI in English, timecheck for 1630 UT, so it`s a
replay of their final English broadcast of the previous day, but which is not on
SW from RFI itself. WRMI sked now shows RFI daily except UT Mondays at 01-02 on
11580; and Mon/Tue at 21-22 on 15770.
Good signal as I listen on the
PL-880 while harvesting apricots; nice that WRMI has picked them up after Global
24 crashed. Only problem is that RFI is obsessed with news about Africa to the
exclusion of the rest of the world, and silly ballgames, not only Eurafrican
football, but American basketball. This reduces the 11580 duplication of 9955
programming to only one hour at 02-03, into R. Praga at 0200 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** INDIA. 13710, June 17 tune-in about 1330 to nice
sitar and tabla music, past 1354 when fading as I realize the AIR GOS in English
is supposed to start with news at 1330. Wonder what happened? Surely not in
observance of the start of Ramadan! Seemed still music at 1412 vs CRI CCI (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO [and non]. 710.0, June 17 at
0551, choral Mexican NA is already playing, ending at 0554 when instead of its
ID I hear one from KCMO. Looped southwest, so presumably the usual XEDP, Ciudad
Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, allegedly 100 watts at night, which either pulled the
plug or faded out very quickly. No het, using the on-frequency transmitter
tonight. Then I barely hear a recitation in Spanish, sounds like the
super-patriotic ``Soy Soldado``, which I have logged from XEDP several times
before in 2012, 2013 and 2014 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
**
NEW ZEALAND. 11725-AM, June 16 at 0531, RNZI is AWOL
again.
15715-15720-15725, June 18 at 0210, DRM noise must be RNZI, but
this frequency is now supposed to be in AM! Own schedule shows:
0200-0255
15720 AM Pacific Daily
0255-0400 15720 AM 17675 DRM Pacific
Daily
So no DRM yet on 17670-17675-17680. The only hours 15720 is
supposed to be in DRM are:
1951-2050 11725 AM 15720 DRM Pacific
Daily
2051-2150 11725 AM 15720 DRM Solomon Islands AM Daily DRM
Sun-Fri
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA.
6949.75-USB, approx., June 18 at 0158, bits of music keep getting cut off,
switching to another piece. No carrier and hard to pinpoint frequency, but seems
slightly on low side. Also reported as unID by several with same inconclusive
programming as early as 0000:
but
the final one says it was XLR8 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
**
SUDAN [and non]. 13800, June 17 at 0534, R. Dabanga via Vatican, fair with
heavier than usual two-carrier/two-tone jamming from the hi side. // 11645 also
via VATICAN is very poor and the tone jammer is too but audible on 11650 where
it`s ineffective (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and
non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1777 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday June 16 at 1113 on WRMI
9955, very good signal during the 1100 UT broadcast. And Wednesday June 17 at
1315, sufficient on 9955. Also confirmed Wednesday June 17 at 2100 on WBCQ
webcast of 7490 [and there was music fill at 2057 tune-in instead of `Financial
Survival`; what happened to that?]

** U S A. WRMI: see CYPRUS [non] and
FRANCE [non] and WORLD OF RADIO
** U S A. 15650-15675 approx., crackling
distorted FMy spur from WWCR which is // inbooming on 15825 (bodes well for a
good sporadic E day). Tried for a match on the hi side which would be
15975-16000 but none heard there (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** U S A. 780, UT Wed June 17 at 0549 UT, yes, WBBM is still
breaking away from all-FM news, for an oldtime radio drama hour at midnight,
stilted narration of some mystery/crime show --- on weeknights, while WGN 720
does it on Sunday nights (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
