Glenn Hauser logs April 16-17, 2015

** CUBA. 15700, April 16 at 1356, RHC music, Spanish outro to `Despertar` show, // 15730. 15700 should have been open carrier leadup to CRI English relay, to which it suddenly did switch at 1400, but as if caused by the program feed switch, transmitter then starts cutting off the air and back on, 1401 stays more or less on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 12070, April 17 at 0058, R. Cairo, good signal in music, then Spanish? suptorted (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-AM, April 17 at 0100 music on very poor signal, noise from storms just west of here. This thread
http://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,21451.15.html
says it was R. Casablanca on 6939.9 AM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 9980, April 16 at 1304, synthetic voice with prophecy that there will be nuclear strikes on the US over the pole and from subs in both oceans; Statue of Liberty will fall on her face, America will melt. Sounds like a defective screen reader, swallowing and skipping syllables. This is WWCR and at first wondered if some non-TOM program, but soon found // 11825 WRMI as they go back to Brother Scare himself. How fortunate we are to have such a warning by the all-knowing screen reader. Or rather, what crap! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1768 monitoring: confirmed on WBCQ webcast, Wed April 15 at 2100; 7490 only a JBA carrier by 2126.

WORLD OF RADIO 1769 monitoring: confirmed first airing UT Thursday April 16 at 0350 on WRMI 9955; over lite pulse jamming, tnx a lot, Arnie! Clear on webcast from 0330. Also confirmed at 1257 Thursday April 16 on 9955, having started at 1230; now only poor signal and splash from stronger T8WH 9950 with YL gospel huxter, Kathie at Water of Life, Plano TX per outro before ID. (Then T8WH switches to 9965; 9950 apparently replaces 9930, where it was no QRM to WRMI; why such a move?) WOR 1769 also confirmed at new time of Thu 2100, sufficient on WRMI 15770, and // 7570 JBA in noise level. Next:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7570 & 15770, April 15 at 2126 check, Thaïs White in Spanish, presumably `Viva Miami` on WRMI, just confirming that these two frequencies are not split but still // (as they would be 24h later for WORLD OF RADIO).

Several WRMI frequencies are inaudible, April 17 at 0040 check, as I have turned on to see what`s around when the K-index is 6: 5850, 7455-RTTY only, 7570, 9395, 9955, 11580, 11825, 15770 all inaudible, but there is a JBA carrier on 15190. Propagation is bad, but I don`t think it`s that bad, rather most WRMI transmitters off the air. I am still getting bigsigs at 0057 from 15230 and 13740 Cuba, as well as several other US SW stations on 7 and 6 MHz bands. And 12105 WTWW in Russian is inbooming at 0058 April 17, often faded way down by this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 970, April 16 at 0620 UT, ad mentioning `Red Eye Radio`, loops NNE/SSW, i.e. WDAY Fargo ND, which is 10/10 kW U4. Another affiliate, less likely, is WMAY Springfield IL, among several further RER affils listed in the NRC AM Log. Originally a show specifically for truckers, now for all right-wing fantatix (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1270, April 17 at 0050 UT, VG with Spanish talk, taking caller from Florida, no doubt KFLC Fort Worth TX, 50/5 kW U4, logged only to note the IBOC noise is is throwing onto 1260 and 1280 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1460, April 17 at 0046 UT, classic country from N/S, SAH of about 6 Hz with an ESPN station overtaking it. (Never mind SS KZUE closest in OK, easily overridden by any skywave). Each has two major possibilities in the NRC AM Log:
C&W: KLTC Dickinson ND 5000/5000 W U2; KCWM Hondo TX 500/226 watts U1
ESPN: KXPN Kearney NE  5000/56 W U1; KCLE Burleson TX 10000/700 W U4
Now which pair are 6 Hz apart? Otherwise, KCLE & KCWM most likely (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
