DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS UPDATE December 4:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html
** CUBA. 7335 & 7355 & 7375 & 7435, Dec 4 at 0749, pulse jamming against nothing since R. Martí is not running all-night, but oh, we feel so much more protected from it! Jamming sounds are slightly different on each, with 7355 strongest but without the tonality earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NEWFOUNDLAND [and non]. 2598-USB, Dec 4 at 0758-0759* UT, Canadian Coast Guard roboYL mentioning the RCMP and pandemic: not exactly marine weather but no doubt important info, about port access? DXinfocentre.com shows, of the rotating stations on this frequency, this first broadcast of the day from *0737 is from VCP-4, Placentia, 3 kW.
2749-USB, Dec 4 at 0800, JBA weaker than 2598, sounds like French intonation. Listed as VCO Sydney NS, only 550 watts from 0740, bilingual.
There are further-flung CCG stations in/around Iqaluit on 2514, 2582 which I never hear in the nightmiddle since times are 1410, 1705 and 2235 for both with season ending Dec 25 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 640 kHz, Dec 4 at 1543 UT, KWPN Moore stupid sportstalk is quite undermodulated; is no one paying attention? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. 1600 kHz, Dec 4 at 1537 UT, dead air from KUSH Cushing, but medium SAH as skywave understations are still in, rather than undermodulation from KUSH; no Vietnamese audible, however. E.g. 1660 Kansas City, 1500 KSTP? Our Enid LSR 1328 today UT, with another 15 minutes to go until the latest at 1343 a month from now, while we are already at earliest sunsets 2316 UT. The two average out for shortest day overall on Winter Solstice. Not rechecked until 1830 when KUSH is modulating Americana; someone finally paying attention (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)
** OKLAHOMA. Dec 4 at 0732 UT I turn the computer back on to advise the WTFDA gg, AMFMTVDX at qth.net, and the WOR io group:
``Defacto MS DX test from KUCO et al. At bedtime 0725 UT Saturday Dec 4, I turn on 90.1 KUCO FM Edmond OK for some WCPE classical music, but instead hear nothing but canned IDs repeating about twice a minute for KUCO 90.1 and its satellites KBCW 91.9 McAlester and KCSC 95.9 Woodward OK. The last time, such a default lasted until about 5 AM CT when the morning human came in, but maybe later on a weekend? Good luck, Glenn Hauser, Enid``
In fact it`s still going at my next awakening 1130 UT; but back to normal by 1350 during `MFTHOS`. I`ve seen no replies that anyone took advantage of this late-breaking opportunity. Available only to those, of course, already awake. And the Geminid meteor shower will not be peaking until Dec. 13-14. Maybe KUCO can do this again next weekend?
Another foulup at KUCO: Sat Dec 4 at 1800 UT, a new season of the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts. After the local opening there follows another opening for the post-opera music fill show which would not really start until 3+ hours later; joining the Met net abruptly about 1802. Such are the risks of voice-tracking, i.e. automating pre-recorded announcements to be integrated, coördinated with net or music plays (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2115 monitoring: confirmed Saturday December 4 after 1700 on WRN for North America webcast.
Also confirmed starting Dec 4 at 2034 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, VG into nearby Warrenton KiwiSDR of KB0FX.
Also confirmed UT Sunday December 5 at 0030 on WRMIs: 7730 VG direct; and also 5950, S9 into Georgia SDR. Until 0029 both carried Wavescan, then split for separate music and IDs, 0030 back together for WOR. 7730 is System D, while 5950 is System L, the latter still displaying some other program at this time. Next:

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support. Thanks this week to Doug Brown, London, Ontario for a generous US$ cheque on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, PO Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 and comments, ``Thanks for another year of great information and DX tips.``One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 4975, Dec 4 at 0745, the -5 kHz WRMI 4980 JBA spur is constantly here when 4980 is strong as usual, e.g. during TOMBS at 0745 Dec 4. Strictly speaking, when WOR appeared on 4980 by surprise we were also on unnecessary 4975 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5850, UT Sun Dec 5 from 0100, another great hour of classical music on `Encore` via WRMI, VG into MO SDR for convenience and pretend stereo in SAS mode; no longer available a bihour earlier on 5950, ceded to Mason Vye rock music show (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 9330, Sat Dec 4 at 0750, WLCR on WBCQ in Brazuguese is VG S9+10, no clash with Cuban spy numbers since this is a scheduled night off for it; vice versa last night: is WBCQ coördinating with it? Probably just randomness (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 5830 WTWW-1 and 5085 WTWW-2 are both still on later than usual at 0746 UT Saturday December 4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 3215, Dec 4 at 0733, no signal from WWCR-1 again tonight, while the other three remain nominal on 4840, 5890, 5935. Have not noticed whether totally off 3215 or just closing earlier. Now I see on the website Dec 4: ``WWCR will not broadcast on 6115 or 3215 until further notice. Programming on these frequencies will continue to be available by audio stream.`` No reason why. Program sked still shows ``6115`` at 22-02 and ``3215`` at 02-12 UT. The only other #1 frequency, 15825 is still on, normally VP here too close for skip such as at 1547 Dec 4 check; 12-22 sked. Some winter sporadic E may enhance (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 3215, Dec 5 at 0033, gospel huxter poorly on portable and no 5050, so WWRB has made the predicted switch to 90m for winter. As long as WWCR has quit 3215, no need for WWRB to QSY at 0200 to 3360, or just run 3360 only. Via Georgia remote, 3215 VG S9+15 but lofi at 0153. 0158.5 live Dave interruption for change to new frequency 3360 repeated and repeated, has to go retune transmitter so will take a few moments; and dead air to 0159.3*.
3360: Dec 5 from *0201, new WWRB frequency is on equally strong S9+15 as 3215 was. 0201 sign-on as testing new frequency and upcut into `All Will Stand` gospel huxter. This will be active only UT Sundays and Mondays for unknown durations. 3360 shows carrier offset minus 8 Hz at Georgia SDR. I normally don`t bother if a station is within 10 Hz of nominal (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1130 kHz, Dec 4 at 1541 UT, KLEY Wellington KS, still S9+20 of dead air into another month, 250 watts day and also all night (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A. 1470 kHz, Dec 4 at 1540 UT, Mexmx dominates. If 2021-2022 NRC AM Log format info still be correct, only two possibilities: KWSL Sioux City IA 2.3 kW, and further KMNQ, Brooklyn Park MN, 5 kW. Nearby on 1500 I am getting sportstalk like nearby KSTP (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Dec 4 at 0407: 531, 558-2, 576, 612, 639, 657, 684-2, 711, 747, 774-2, 837-2, 882-2, 945, 1098, 1134-2, 1215 kHz. As usual, not much heard higher, partly due to greater adjacent QRM level, but I keep going and hear another at 1656+ kHz.
If nominal 1656, it`s noticeably off-frequency. But there is no official X-band TA. However that area is packed with Euro pirates, hundreds of them logged by Carlos Gonçalves in Portugal, most of them unID --- but his latest list shows some on 1655 and 1660, not 1656. So my carrier may be something local or at least not TA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 830v, Dec 4 at 0426 UT, WCCO has a LAH - low audible heterodyne, guesstimate ~25 Hz, but I can`t decide on which side. Anyhow, mwoffsets does not show anything likely that far off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
