** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, our morning Oct 23 at 1357: 11460 Chinese with flutter; 11100 S3; 11070 & 10870 JBA until 1400* (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey around our sunset here, Oct 23 at 2338: 6865, Chinese S6-S8 with flutter. After pirate check, so then I seek others graylinish, JBA carriers or JBA u.o.s., from 2346: 9155, 9180, 9215, 9280; 2348: 9300 S6-S9; 2351: 13530 S7-S9; 13130, 13070; 12870 S3-S4; 12835, 12820; 12500 S5-S6; 12365, 12210. 2356: 11500, 11440, 11170, 11120; 11100 S7-S8; 11070 S9+10; 10870, 10820. Almost/all of these are Aoki-listed SOH *jammed frequencies. I did not have time to search above 14 MHz where more do reside (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 11845, Oct 23 at 1439, residual noise jamming on an ex-Radio Martí daytime frequency, long-gone for how many years now? Other broadcasters should beware if they think it`s available. Maybe they are, for Aoki shows nothing but CNR2 at 00-11, the ChiCom being cool anyway with jamming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** CUBA. 4765, Oct 24 at 0033, as soon as I tune in Radio Progreso music it dumps off the air, back on at *0034.6, and now I also find the extremely distorted but not very strong spurblob circa 4782, but not much to match at minus 17 = 4748. Nor do I hear any Huanta on 4764 even while RP was off. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba. See also INDIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** INDIA. 4910, Oct 23 at 1745, no AIR Jaipur, nothing but noise to New Delhi SDR. Closed down earlier? The only other Kiwi in India, Bengaluru, keeps blocking me for having used it more than 180 minutes per day while I have really used it zero.
I was checking for the last minutes ever of AIR Jaipur, as Jose Jacob, dx_india, had warned Oct 22:
``Subject: AIR Jaipur - Last day on SW tomorrow 23 Oct 2020 All India Radio, Jaipur in Rajasthan is ending their SW transmissions tomorrow ie 23 Oct 2020 at 1751 UTC (11.21 pm IST). Their schedule of the 50 kW tx which was installed in 1992 is: 4910: 0025-0430, 1130-1751 UTC; 7325: 0630-0930 UTC`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** INDIA. 5040, Oct 24 at 0023, open carrier of S7-S9, certainly not CUBA which is OFF, compared to 5025 Rebelde at S9+20. Fits for AIR Jeypore, 50 kW, starting at 0026 per VU2JOS schedule; however no modulation detected past 0030. I was hoping for at least a trace of the lovely AIR IS. Now and then hit by ``running water`` ute QRM.
BTW, WRMI will no longer have to worry about Trivandrum 5010 QRM as Jose Jacob says it`s one of several AIR stations just decommissioned. That leaves Madagascar, and maybe a Cuban leapfrog with 5040 back on, across 5025 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** INDIA. 11560, Oct 23 at 1441, SW/S Asian music, S8-S9+10 with heavy flutter. This is one of our best chances to hear what`s left of the drastically curtailed AIR external service. Constantly updated https://qsl.net/vu2jos/sw/freq.htm shows it`s 500 kW from Bengaluru, 1315-1415 in Dari, 1415-1530 Pushtu; also 0215-0430. Unfortunately no longer carries relay of domestic news in English at 1500; and what`s the azimuth? No AIR in HFCC any more, no angles in WRTH or Aoki or EiBi or VU2JOS. Must be roughly to the NW; in 2017 had a 320 degree on another frequency while 11560 was via Goa (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6955-USB, Oct 23 at 2337, pirate music, S9 but distorted with parlato, ``Dread Zeppelin``? As others report it at https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,73231.0.html 2341 SSTV beepery; 2343 more music with exclamations, 2350 tones and off. It was Damn Skippy per HFU reports, displaying fuzzy SSTV (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** SRI LANKA. 11870, Oct 23 at 1438, S6-S9 with heavy trans-polar flutter, song maybe in English. Aoki/NDXC shows it`s AWR in Chinese this hour only via Trincomalee (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** TURKEY. 9830, Oct 23 at 2200, VOT English is on, but only VP into UTwente vs QRM from NSS RTTY even over there (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2057 monitoring: confirmed UT Saturday October 24 at 0130 on WRMI 7780, S8/S9+15 into UTwente SDR. Preceded by double ID at 0129, from Bob Zanotti and Ian McFarland, with bits of music intruding between them and before me. Next:

** U S A. 9395, Oct 23 at 1433 and later chex, WRMI-6 remains off the air; on exactly same nominal parameters, 100 kW at 355 degrees is 9455, still on, so easy to compare them. Discussed in WOR iogroup:
``USA. Message just posted on the WRMI Facebook page: "1915 UTC Tuesday October 20 - WRMI's Transmitter 6 (9395 kHz) is temporarily off the air due to a blown capacitor and some other minor damage. Our engineers are working to get it back on the air, but we may need some parts, so it could be tomorrow before it gets back on the air. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience." Alan Roe, Teddington, UK``
[non] ``WRMI's current absence on 9395 kHz is allowing good reception of Radio Thailand on 9390 kHz. Currently audible October 21, 2020 from 1312 UTC tune in finishing up English broadcast. ID "Radio Thailand broadcasting from Bangkok" in English at 1315 UTC then into Chinese language program with male announcer. Currently S-3 peaking to S-5, SINPO = 34333. Mike Newland, Morgantown, KY``
[non non] Last I heard from the site was that part of the problem is fixed, but there are still issues. Maybe tomorrow. There is only ONE engineer on site for 14 transmitters and 23 antenna systems, and he is only part-time and semi-retired. The engineering situation is getting grim in this business, as we are all aging out. If I was in Florida I could help, but we are at out Mountain Home until after Christmas.`` -- Bob Biermann, YWS, northern Georgia, Oct 21.
You would think one of the otherwise idle transmitters could substitute, but maybe not serviceable, feasible, or worth the trouble. Certain transmitters only connect to certain antennas, so even if retuned to 9395, it might have to emit in a `wrong` direxion (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 2057)
** U S A. 6159.912 & 7490.061, UT Sat Oct 24 at 0003, both WBCQs are about equally sufficient for `AAAWWW`, ``WTO`` theme ending and AW opening show teasing? listeners about how gorgeous his half-naked wife is in the 84-degree studio; I cannot think of any other radio host who always begins thus. She is to him a welcome distraxion, but more seriously they complain about distracted drivers; and hear from someone who sadly sold his Harley rather than risk them. Then discussing the centennial of regular broadcasting by KDKA, but also WWJ Detroit, apparently reading an entire article from a September Radio World past 0030. By 0039 more technical about `BCQ: He loves meters and insisted Continental install them, maybe for the last time, on the 500 kW. All the old transmitters are tube-type and one has 18 meters on it, so he can view directly what any stage is doing. At 0050 finally reveals it`s 23rd of October, YOOL 2020, into e-mail briefly; 0055 starts to read some Free Radio Weekly items, but none ensue since immediately allowed to be interrupted by a caller telling a story of how he had a vision in September that Trump would win by an approx. 2:1 margin --- they can only hope!! Anyhow may have been last week`s FRW as I for one had not received my new issue yet. Now only a minute for benedixion and getting off in time for Hal Turner (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Oct 23 at 0550-0606: 531, 585, 639(2), 693, 729, 738*, 774(2), 837, 855(2), 882, 891, 909, 936(2), 981, 909(2), 1053*(2), 1089, 1098, 1107, 1125(2), 1152, 1215 --- all those detected by USB tuning 1 kHz below on 9-kHz steps. Before completing to top of band,
I then switch to LSB tuning from 1 kHz above the 9-kHz steps, not in the order heard: 549, 558, 612, 639, 684, 693, 729, 738, 747, 882, 891, 936, 981, 999, 1026, 1044, 1053*, 1089, 1152(2), 1215, 1458, 1503 kHz. *strongest; (2) at least two carriers beating (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9218, Oct 23 at 1432, S5-S8 open carrier. The persistent OC on 9200 is not on right now, possibly same transmitter. 9200 is back on later in day and no 9218, such as at 2347, S8-S9. Note that sometimes there is also a CNR1 jammer on 9200 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
UNIDENTIFIED. 11137-USB, Oct 23 at 2357, 2-way in Spanish, maybe legit aerocomms but I doubt it. I run across these during CNR1 jammer bandscans, in fact another one I missed logging in haste to beat the jammer closings (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
