WRMI RELAYS DUTCH PIRATE FREE RADIO SERVICE-HOLLAND FRIDAY AT 10 P.M. ET

WRMI RELAYS DUTCH PIRATE FREE RADIO SERVICE-HOLLAND FRIDAY AT 10 P.M. ET

The program will be broadcast on 5800 kHz, Friday, August 13, at 10 p.m. ET (0200 GMT on August 14).

Reception reports must be sent directly to the station at frs@frsholland.nl.

This is the seventh in a series of weekly WRMI relays of European pirates and low-power licensed broadcasters, many of which haven’t been heard in North America for many years — if ever. The remainder of the series looks like this:

August 21 - Atlantic 2000 International, France
August 28 - Radio Delta International, The Netherlands.

Beginning on September 4 in NAm (September 5 UTC), Texas Radio Shortwave, Limpia Mountains Radio, and WRMI begin a new series of Europirate relays on a different day of the week and on a different frequency. An announcement’s been posted on TRSW’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/texasradiosw).

WRMI’s transmitters are located in Okeechobee, Florida, USA.

Texas Radio Shortwave lurks stealthily in international waters off the South Texas coast. Its programs are regularly broadcast in North America and Europe.

Limpia Mountains Radio operates from a cave on Brooks Mountain in Jeff Davis County in far West Texas. It coproduces radio programs with Texas Radio Shortwave.

Glenn Hauser logs August 11, 2021

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Wed Aug 11 at 1447, NO signal from LRA36 into two Brazilian remotes. Wed used to be their primary day, last week followed by additional Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun, but not Mon or Tue. Wonder if they were running out the clock before a prolonged hiatus? Maybe not. Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain, forwards a note in the form of jpg which I translate:

``THE NEW LRA 36 --- Today 16:23 --- Dear Audience, we inform you that due to adverse meteorological conditions, unfortunately we are not able to emit the program on shortwave. Our sincere apologies for this; we are working to resume the service again. Thanks for your unconditional support`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11880, Aug 11 at 2302 and later, NO signal from RHC English, but audible on noisy 5040. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 9830, Aug 11 at 2157, VOT IS and IDs in English, on the air today after at least two days missing; S9/+20 into Maryland SDR but undermodulated; still past 2230 COVID-19 PSA while I was mainly listening to the competition from Spain; 2250 direct, already dead air and soon off. Had a much stronger signal here than REE 17855, equally strong there and louderly modulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2098 monitoring: as usual I sleep thru the 1030 Wed on WRMI 5850, August 11. Did anyone hear it? When it is on, I wonder if anyone is axually listening, by chance or intentionally, in the Pacific or east Asia when this is prime evening time?

Confirmed Wed Aug 11 after 2100 on WRMI 7780, good S8-S9 via NA5B SDR in Maryland which shows carrier offset only +0.2 Hz. And about 21 seconds later on WBCQ 7489.9, carrier +1.5 Hz; same meter strength S8-S9 but then to +10. Louder modulation on WBCQ. Both marred by storm crashes as there is a huge line from Louisiana to Vermont including the WDC area. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: no new contributions this week which might have been via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA.

Next new WOR 2099 should be ready by early UT Friday August 13 for download and first SWBC at 0130 on WRMIs 5850 & 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Aug 11 at 2258, this WRMI is still off like last night; #5 transmitter supposedly 24h mainly TOMBS or SMTV, but briefer segments of Family Radio, RAE. 285 degrees, same azimuth as 7730 #13 but always much weaker than it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4790, Aug 11 at 0615, TOMBS via WBCQ, allegedly 50 KW, is VP, with some CODAR QRM both plus and minus. So this is not so ideal a frequency after all (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 4840, Aug 11 at 0616, WWCR with S9+30 of DEAD AIR AGAIN, rather than TOMBS. Standard remarx (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. Altice/Suddenlink cable TV interrupts whatever channel we are watching and presumably all of them for a nationwide emergency alert test, Aug 11 at 1822 UT -- as we dodge for the mute button, and also quickly turn on the R75 for a MW bandscan, but by then, no sign of the test, all ops normal. The nominal time for it was 1820 UT; it seems that overtaking OTA broadcasting and cable is now an afterthought to these: https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20210611/fema-and-fcc-plan-nationwide-emergency-alert-test-aug-11-test-messages-will (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs August +10-11, 2021

** ANDORRA [non]. As previously reported, I heard the R. Andorra special via AUSTRIA 6180 via a remote receiver. I did not send them a reception report nor request a QSL. However, it was announced that the ``QSLs`` would be generic, not personalized to name the recipient, so I am no less generic in claiming this as it might as well be mine, one of several reproduxions of it on the web: https://aer.org.es/archivos/30542 In fact it does not say it`s a QSL or verifying anything, more like a publicity poster. BTW, I am not put off by kelka shows in French: it is probably my fourth-best language (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Aug 10 at 1510, no signal into Brasil SDR from LRA36 this Tuesday; we`ll see if it`s back Wednesday, which had been its #1 DOW, until last week it kept showing up on Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun; but not Mon (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Aug 11 at 0126, no signal from R. Progreso, nominally *0030-0400*. Gone too are its scratchyspurs 17-18 kHz above and below. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15370, Aug 10 at 1854, RHC in Kriyol // 15140, but 15370 is not supposed to be on yet, rather from *1930 in French starting Euro service. So I keep on it for English to get duplicated too, but 15370 goes off at 1900* just as English start on 15140. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9535 & 9710, Aug 11 at 0132, both RHC Spanish 31 mb frequencies are missing; 11850 is S9/+10 but as so often is JBM and suptorted; JBA parasitic spur carrier also on 11840. Something`s always wrong at RHC. Not missing are 13740 & 11670 in Spanish (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11760, Aug 11 at 0134, RHC in English! instead of Spanish, undermodulated and with humbuzz much like that infesting 6060 after 0500. // 6000 is much louder and 6165 less so. Feedlines mixed up? Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9580, Aug 11 at 0133, CRI English relay is S9+30/40, undermodulated and slightly distorted. But sufficient with volume turned up, American accent about American events; could it really be CHINA?? Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba; while RHC itself is missing from 9535 & 9710 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** KASHMIR [non]. 15170, Aug 10 at 1508, Kashmir Civitas weekly clandestine reconfirmed this Tuesday, via IRRS presumably Romania, usual Urdu talk and music, VG S9/+10 into UTwente. But at 1523 already, sudden cut to classic song in English ``This Magic Moment``, and more rock to 1529* with no announcements. Unknown whether KashCiv show were short this week or something went wrong to chop it, defaulting to fill music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, Aug 10 circa 2210, VOT is missing again from North American English. Not even a signal at UTwente. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2098 monitoring: ``From: Richard Lemke, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, From the desk of Richard’s listening Post, Radio: JRC NRD-535 HF, Antenna: random long wires in the trees. Dear Glenn: This time I made my loggings that I confirmed hearing World of Radio #2098, getting close to the mile stone program level next two programs, Details:

Our non-commercial broadcasts and website depend on voluntary support: no new contributions this week which might have been via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds, to woradio at yahoo.com

One may also contribute by MO or check in US funds on a US bank to: Glenn Hauser, Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 USA (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7489.9v), Aug 9 at 2329, after listening to the secret repeat of the first half of `UBMP` on WBCQ webcast, Monday at 2300, a spot commercial for Progressive Insurance, immediately followed by the regular 2330 show `Camp Constitution Radio`. It`s hard to believe that a major advertiser such as P.I. would intentionally be sponsoring such an obscure political SW show. What is going on? Have they bought some spots on WBCQ and one happens to be inserted here [as I noticed once before: maybe every week]? Spot advertising on US SW stations is exceeding rare, not to be confused with commercials within a totally-sponsored syndicated show; tho some appear amid otherwise unrelated musical filler on WRMI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9455, Aug 11 at 0131, tonight`s missing WRMI frequency, while neighbor 9395 achieves S9+10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 7506-7508, Aug 10 at 2230, multiple random tones, or rather carriers on slightly different frequencies, at UTwente audible in SSB or SynchAM modes, but not plain AM. Will not lock on to one specific carrier frequency. Not CW, i.e. Morse with a message. Seems unrelated to weak signal on 7505, which is RFA Tibetan via Tajikistan this hour only; and/or ChiCom jamming. The tones could be a different kind of jamming, but they continue past 2300 when 7505 has gone off. In fact, beepery still at 2345. Not a UTwente artifact, as same thing heard on nearby Nordhorn, Germany SDR at 2349.

Normally I employ remote SDRs just to check something out on a specific frequency, rather than full bandscanning which I do myself to discover new things: but the noise level here is so bad and the propagation currently so poor that I was bandscanning 7300+ up at UTwente, with probably more to come (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs August 9-10, 2021

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Monday August 9 at 1502 check, no signal from LRA36 into two Brazilian SDRs. Had been active last 5 days, Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. Re decommissioning ND beacons, Richard Lacroix, odxa: A copy of Aeronautical Study - NAVAID Modernisation can be found here: https://copanational.org/sites/copanational.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Aeronautical-Study-NAVAID-Modernisation.pdf (via Glenn Hauser, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6931-USB, Aug 9 at 0024, S6 mostly soft songs with long pauses, 0025 resuming S5 to spixe of S7-S8. Occasional quick announcements, unreadable; 0053 soft ballad; 0057 upbeat bluegrass; 0100 another pause but no ID, then as in https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,84850.0.html ``House of the rising Sun - The White Buffalo with Forest Rangers`` from KIND (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6860-USB, Aug 9 at 0116, rock music at S9/+10; 0120 electronic. These pirates competing with Olympix closing ceremony as delayed on NBC TV. It is Mix Radio International: https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,84845.0.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 341-MCW kHz, Aug 9 at 0614 UT, Enid`s NDB, EI, is off again so at JBA strain level vs noise, 341 signal #2, OIN from Oberlin KS is copied. 515-MCW PN Ponca City and 255-MCW SW Stillwater also remain off; but 350-MCW RG in OKC remains reliable. A couple of the big Canux also audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6974.9-AM, Aug 9 at 0118, JBA music, presumed Nowhere Radio. I am still suffering from high local line noise level on LW thru MW thru most SW bands (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 17855, Aug 9 at 2200, it`s Monday so time for another token English semihour from REE; VG 9/+15 via Maryland SDR; 15520 is OFF, but also well audible on 11940 for SAm and even 11670 for Africa. Justin Coe introduces news to be followed by the so-called `DX program` which is really a mailbag; he gets into that at 2208, admitting that he`s ``not used to working``, just back from a 2-week holiday inside Spain but not even reaching the beach.

So the show will be ``chaotic``; and it certainly is, but not much more than usual. First has e-mail from Peter Jones in GB, who wonders why English programs have been missing since July 22. He must be referring to new podcasts posted, not SW. JC says there are struxural problems at REE; summer holidays, not enough personnel to keep all podcasts up and running. Sooner or later.

Then a report in English from someone in Guangdong for a Spanish broadcast on 17855 with a SINPO of 44444. Wants a QSL and sticker, but JC still hasn`t located who is responsible for QSLing; if and when, will forward that report. You see, in August everything stops in Spain. Next from Richard Lemke in Alberta suggesting ``have fun`` name for mailbag.

This somehow leads into a bit about today Aug 9 being International Day of Indigenous Peoples, by the UN. And 2222 talking about a Guatemalan woman singer, Sara Culchich? sounded like, but a search engine knows better, Curruchich. Yadda3, he goes on and on about her, since he apparently played a bit of her music earlier and more to follow. But by the time he gets around to that, it`s 2229.6 so only a little bit before the 2230 timesignal and into French. It appears JC is programming for the podcast of variable extended length, never mind getting it cut short on SW. Anyhow, here is more about her I found, and more linx to her songs:

(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9830, Aug 9 at 2200 and later quick chex of Maryland SDR during SPAIN, no signal today from VOT simulEnglish. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2098 monitoring: NOT confirmed Sunday Aug 8 at 2000 on IRRS SW via AM Italia 918 kHz: S9+35 via Noale SDR, after ID, goes to dead air for several minutes, and believed for entire span to 2030; back with country music at 2115 check.

Confirmed Sun Aug 8 at 2230 on WRMI 9955, S9/+15 into Bonaire remote.

Confirmed UT Mon Aug 9 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, S9+10/20 direct.

Confirmed UT Mon Aug 9 at 0130 on WRN webcast to N America, http://shoutcast.wrn.org:8025/NAMAAP. This direct link continues valid despite WRN website link broken.

Confirmed UT Mon Aug 9 at 0230 on WRMI 5800, S9+10 into Bonaire; but // 7780 is OFF, as it was at earlier 0055 check, and later.

Confirmed UT Mon Aug 9 at 0300 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160 kHz minus 102 Hz on SAM mode of Maryland SDR = 6159.898; slight glitch of a few words of BS between ID and WOR start; after JL bi-weekly expletive-laden show. So this is the reactivated time for WOR replacing Sunday 2200; did not check A51 webcast then August 8 but may well have been there too, as at 2230 HRI was starting, while 6160- stayed with TOMBS past 2200. HRI has also moved to 0329 UT Mon; in too big a hurry to start, cutting my last few closing words. Nevertheless, ``standard disclaimer`` still applies. By this time into Maryland, WBCQ at S7-S9 is axually QRMing 6165 RHC more than vice versa, but not so into OK closer to azimuth of RHC. Next, skipping any Tuesday opportunity:

1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2100 UT Wednesday WRMI 7780 to NE
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

** VENEZUELA. 6205-AM, Aug 10 at 0015, nondescript music here with ROCV reactivated. I`m camping on the Bonaire SDR which is all busy but someone in Caracas already on this frequency, until they start tuning around the 49mb at 0017. But quits by 0020 when I take over and back to 6205, showing carrier offset plus 8 to 11 Hz at S5-S7, some strange off-mike singing and clapping? or chugging? keeping rhythm past 0040+.

Manuel Méndez had reported on the WOR iog yesterday morning: ``ROCV, El Tigre, Venezuela, 6205 on the air again testing --- Radio Onda Corta Venezuela ROCV, El Tigre, 6205, is on air again as reported by its engineer Gregorio Kina in the ROCV whatsapp group. Checked via SDR remote receiver in Bonaire, heard right now, 1300-1311, 08-08 with Venezuelan songs, "LLaneras" and others, ID "Somos Radio Onda Corta Venezuela, El Tigre", "En Venezuela son las ...". Fair signal, not possible to hear it here in Friol, NW of Spain at this time due to daylight`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1080, Aug 9 at 0620 UT, C&W music overcoming KRLD on E/W longwire, making slow SAH. Last year`s NRC AM Log shows only two C&W, both daytimers: 250-watt KOAK Red Oak IA; and 10 kW KSLL Price UT. KRLD remains dominant on DX-398, can`t get a DF on this nor enough null of KRLD (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1130, Aug 9 at 0618 UT, Spanish QRM to KWKH, with super-hype voice actor, SHVA, could be USA or EUM. Last year`s NRC AM Log shows only non-daytimer SS is KSDO 10/10 kW San Diego but religious; supposed daytimers in GA, TN, TX. IRCA Mexican Log had 4 or 5 there. Getting more of it on E/W longwire than DX-398 so could not DF it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Emergency Alert test Wed Aug 11

On August 11, 2021 at 2pm, FEMA and the FCC are planning a Nationwide Emergency Alert Test. Test messages will be sent to TVs and radios, as well as cell phones that have opted-in to receive test messages.
The emergency alert signal will last about five minutes. At that point, your TV channels will be temporarily interrupted.
Once the test is complete, you may need to reboot your equipment to resume watching TV. To do this, unplug the power, wait 5-10 seconds, then plug the power back in.
To learn more about the alert, please visit fema.gov for more information.
(notice from Suddenlink to customers)

Presumably this will also interrupt all radio and TV broadcasts on the air.
Is that 2 pm ET? 18 UT everywhere? Or depending on timezone? 2 pm CT = 19 UT (gh)

Radio Caroline Annual Fundraiser

Dear Radio Caroline supporter,
Teeshirt DesignJoin us on Friday, August 13th for our Four Day Annual Fundraiser, and get your hands on this great limited edition teeshirt. It features an original Radio Caroline wave design from 1964, and it includes the original Radio Caroline ship, the MV Caroline, which, after four months of broadcasting, sailed to the Isle of Man to become Radio Caroline North.
Our fundraiser will run on all three channels, Radio Caroline, Radio Caroline North (Live from the Ross Revenge) and Caroline Flashback until midnight, UK time, on Monday, August 16th, except that it will finish on Radio Caroline North on closedown on Sunday, August 15th.
TeeshirtsYou will only be able to receive the teeshirt if you make a one-off donation of £25.00 or more, or if you join the Radio Caroline Support Group for a minimum monthly donation of £7.50, cancellable at any time.
The teeshirt is available in a choice of colours, charcoal or grey.
If you join the RCSG by monthly donation, you will also immediately receive by email the latest edition of our Quarterly Newsletter. The July edition contains 15 exclusive articles about what is going on behind the scenes at Radio Caroline, past, present and future. You will then continue to receive the Newsletter until such time, if ever, as you choose to cancel your monthly donation.
The teeshirt is exclusive to the Fundraiser, and, in order to receive it, you must make your donation, or join the RCSG, starting on Friday, August 13th and before midnight, UK time, on Monday, August 16th.
The donation button will go live on our website <https://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/> early on Friday, August 13th.
TeeshirtsIt promises to be another exciting year ahead for Radio Caroline. We are planning a substantial improvement to our broadcast coverage, and we must make vital and costly repairs to the Ross Revenge. But we can only do this with your support.
You will be able to choose not to receive the teeshirt, if you prefer, and donations of any amount will always be gratefully received.
We hope that you will join us for this important fundraising event, and some special Radio Caroline shows on all three of our channels.
Best regards,
Radio Caroline

Glenn Hauser logs August 8, 2021

** ANDORRA [non]. Christian Milling of shortwaveservice, who produced the 6180 special aired via Austria, August 7, replies:

``Well, the show was a program from Summer 1979, one of about 10 still existing complete original recordings on cassette in more or less studio quality from Radio Andorra that survived the severe storage conditions in the more than 30 years abandoned transmitter building in Encamp. The program was composed by the last artistical director of Radio Andorra, Arty Parera together with the chansonnier Sacha Distel, one of the most important artists of France at that time. But for sure this rusty old tape can't beat the excitement of a WOR show. And sorry, we "forgot" North America again, the undoubtedly center of the universe...``

It is my center so no apologies for representing it; but I certainly do not begrudge Europeans their nostalgia. Tnx to Christian for producing and availablizing it. I continue to be bemused by Europeans` thirst for rock back then, while there was plenty of great classical music on radio; in North America, rock everywhere and classical a small minority to be sought out, still today (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98-RCUSB, Aug 8 at 1627, tnx to reminder from Dan Robinson, LRA-36 is also on today Sunday, S4-S6 into Brasil SDR, usual music, brief talx, frequent IDs still past 1732. And 1827 item about a meteo observatory in Cordoba; 1855 Antarctica song, 1858 opening Wed show `El Lejano Sur` once again, still past 1917.

So appears to be active every day now for extended hour, starting circa 1400, past 19 or 20 UT recently (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. Steve McDonald, VE7SL replies: ``Most large commercial jets are equipped with RNAV capability l which can be used in conjunction with ground-based nav facilities (VORs and DMEs) to navigate accurately but that’s not the case for the smaller stuff.``

Martin Potter, Ont., replies on the ODXA iog:
``Concerning your item about NavCanada decommissioning LW/MW beacons, your correspondent Walt Salmaniw makes a very good point. It seems to me that NavCanada, with their emphasis and reliance on GPS satellites, is creating an "all our eggs are in one basket" kind of situation. There will be no redundancy, other than more satellites.

An item just this morning on Slashdot.org
https://news.slashdot.org/story/21/08/07/0212200/cnn-explores-how-space-force-is-defending-america makes the point that a military war in space, while not likely for the foreseeable future, is not exactly *unlikely* either.

All an aggressor has to do it detonate a few nuclear devices *above* the ionosphere and the global positioning satellite system would be toast instantly. Will NavCanada immediately turn on the beacons again to save all the aircraft in the air at that time?

Then there are natural events. A very unusually strong solar flare might adversely affect many of the GPS satellites on the sunlit side of the earth at the time of the flare. I know the satellites are hardened against expected solar events of that nature, but hardening has its limits and I am sure the GPS designers had a practical upper limit on what they could do and did do. Unfortunately, Nature has a way of surprising us in unexpected ways and at unexpected times.

Maybe NavCanada is a bit short-sighted and perhaps too trusting of both technology and the present "peaceful world". 73, ... Martin VE3OAT``

Yes, but would an aggressor really want to eliminate its own GPS access at the same time? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1390, Sun Aug 8 at 0625 UT, my strongest local, KCRC, is again in dead air; but too late at bedtime to try for any DX under/thru it. Say, other stations which do this should have a default set up of continuous IDs and other DX test noises. Or turn off the transmitter: obviously, broadcasting dead air accomplishes nothing except keeping the electricity bill humming (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO monitoring: last week, UT Sunday August 1, Hansjoerg Biener in Germany was hearing WOR on WRMI 5950 before 0100. It`s not on the skedgrid, as that half hour is not accounted for on System L. Other days of week there may be 1-hour programs from 0000, but on Sundays at 0000 it`s Wavescan which is only one semihour. So we are sure to check for WOR 168 hours later, UT Sunday August 8 at 0030 on 5950: YES, it`s on, but from 3+ years ago! #1935 recorded June 19 [2018!]. S9+10/20 via Knoxville SDR.

Unlike a lot of time-sensitive weekly shows, we always give the produxion date right at the beginning, saving listeners from trying to figure it out or wasting their time on a rerun. The # if not the date is also always given at the mid-break and the very end. Apparently this was an orphan file in System L --- no telling how long it`s been showing up at odd times with long-out-of-date info. I`ve asked Jeff if he could arrange it so the latest WOR appear in this slot.

Current WOR 2098 confirmed UT Sunday August 8 from 0330 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Wentzville MO, good via nearby Warrenton SDR but with heavy storm noise no closer than WI/NE/KS, none in MO/IL. Next for #2098!

** U S A. 7570, Aug 8 at 0044, WRMI is back here very strong after absence last night; and 7780 is weakened again, so evidently back to `normal` configuration, antenna NW on 7570, NE on 7780 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (5085), UT Sun Aug 8 at 0040, WTWW-2 webcast of `TOUTA` in stereo finishing at 0052, back to rock, so missed most of it starting early circa 0021. Bob Heil says next week he may fire up his own thorgan besides playing recordings of others (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9475, Aug 8 at 1506, the usually silent WTWW-1 daytime frequency is on since it`s Sunday morning, with PPPP; the SSOB of S9+30 vs WWCR 9980 at only S9+20 and hardly anything else on band (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Highlights of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
02 - 08 August 2021

Solar activity was at very low levels. An isolated C1 flare peaked
at 09/0004 UTC just after the reporting period from new Region 2853
(N23, L=192, class/area Axx/010 on 08 Aug). The single spot just
appeared late on 08 Aug but was preceded by an area of active plage
which rotated onto the visible disk on 06 Aug. No Earth-directed
CMEs were observed.

No proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached
high levels on 04-05 Aug with a peak flux of 1,570 pfu observed at
05/1725 UTC.

Geomagnetic field activity ranged from quiet to G1 (Minor)
geomagnetic storming. An enhancement in the IMF field began at
02/0900 UTC, likely from a glancing blow from the 28 Jul CME. Total
field reached a peak of 13 nT at 02/1810 UTC, while the Bz component
was mostly negative for 1.5 days reaching -13 nT briefly 02/1815
UTC. Solar wind speed at this time was between 300-400 km/s. The
geomagnetic field responded with quiet to G1 storm levels on 02 Aug
and quiet to active levels on 03 Aug. Quiet conditions were observed
on 04 Aug through late on 06 Aug. By the middle of 06 Aug, a likely
CIR preceding a weak positive polarity coronal hole high speed
stream (CH HSS) was observed causing total field to increase to a
maximum of 13 nT at 07/0620 UTC along with a prolonged period of
southward Bz to -9 nT. Solar wind speed briefly increased to near
475 km/s on 07 Aug before declining to below 400 km/s by midday on
08 Aug. The geomagnetic field reached unsettled periods late on 06
Aug through 07 Aug followed by quiet levels on 08 Aug.

Forecast of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
09 August - 04 September 2021

Solar activity is expected to be at very low levels with a chance
for further C-class flares through 19 Aug if Region 2853 continues
to develop and show activity.

No proton events are expected at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit is
expected to be at normal to moderate levels.

Geomagnetic field activity is expected to reach unsettled levels on
09-10 Aug, 16-18 Aug, 23-25 Aug, and 02-04 Sep and reach active
levels on 24 Aug and 03 Sep due to CH HSS activity.
