Glenn Hauser logs December 14, 2014

** BRAZIL. 4885, Dec 14 at 0608, full ID mentioning Belém, Pará, poor-fair signal vs CODAR, as ZYG362 remains the #1 Brazilian signal on 60m, overnight --- no sign of the other one on 4885, Acre (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11747 & 11813, Dec 14 at 0555, distorted spurs from 11780.1 RNA/RNB are audible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 9850, Sunday Dec 14 at 1353, I tune in RHC to hear some enjoyable `Cuba Campesina` music, but it cuts off the air a few seconds later, tnx a lot! getting a head start on the QSY to 15370. So I tune that in by 1354 to find an open carrier, cuts off, then back on with modulation, then modulation off with carrier on, 1356 finally manages to run both at once and stay on for the tail of C.C. I notice that 9640 is still on, an echo apart, so from the other site (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT [non]. See USA: Global 24, WRMI

** OKLAHOMA. 1640, Dec 14 at 0602 UT, KZLS Enid is *still* open carrier/dead air as noted 6 hours earlier. Same at further chex 1350 UT, 1454 UT, 1540 UT and 1618 UT. Incredible how a broadcaster can care so little about his own station to allow this to go on unnoticed for hours and hours (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9955, Dec 14 at 0611, fado fill music from WRMI instead of Brother Scare who is scheduled daily at 06-11 on 9955; good signal, 0613 on to a Spanish song; incomparably improved programming (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9395, Sunday Dec 14 at 1359, ME music, 1400 Global 24 ID, 1401 back to weekly R. Cairo relay with `Modern Egypt`, YL speaker; fairly readable, but there is some buzz in the background; as she is wrapping show at 1405 I distinctly hear a child crying in background, so must have had to bring it with her to work even in the studio. 1406 ``final program`` is about a museum in Alexandria dating from Mohammed Ali, including something of platinum; 1409 that`s already ending, title maybe `Life & Times of Egypt`? and into songs for the rest of the transmission which will surely end around 1420 requiring more fill music from G24.

Good signal, but is not going to be so good for a couple of weeks. Jeff White tells me, ``Glenn: As of Monday, we are going to be experimenting with Global 24 on the 181-degree antenna to the Caribbean for a couple of weeks while we work on an antenna project here. It could be a little longer than that, or it could be shorter. When we are finished, we will probably put Global 24 on one of the 355-degree antennas full-time. 181 is high-angle to Cuba/Caribbean. The 355's are not. So that will likely come in a lot better in your location, although the center is still beamed further east. We only have two 315-degree antennas, and they are on transmitters 11 and 12, which are mostly sold to Brother Stair. Jeff``

And the WRMI graphic frequency schedule effective Dec 15 is already up, showing G24 moved from #1 transmitter at 355 degrees to #6 at 181. BTW, one other transmitter not in use at all is #5 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 560, Dec 14 at 0615 UT I am getting two stations carrying `Coast to Coast AM`, but of course, not synchronized. First one from the E/W, and 4 seconds later, another from the NW/SE. Altho there are several further 560 affiliates, I am sure these two are my closest: KWTO Springfield MO, and KLVI Beaumont TX (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 880-CUSB, Dec 14 at 1333 UT, Xmas carol, live announcement in English and another; nothing on LSB and loops E/W so obviously KHAC Tse Bonito NM still on ND day pattern and power before sunrise (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1540, Sunday Dec 14 at 1346 UT, phones, address and website for Assemblies of Yahweh being given from NE/SW. Obviously it`s KXEL in Waterloo IA, which is on the few-station roster as of Oct 2013 at:
http://assembliesofyahweh.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Radio-and-TV-Log.pdf
but at a different time, Sundays at 11:30-12:00 pm [CST = UT -6] whatever that meant, before noon or before midnite?

KXEL does not provide a plain old program schedule, but at
http://www.kxel.com/index.php/On-Air/Weekend_Programming
a bunch of secular talk shows without giving the times!

WMLK may have been off shortwave 9265 for years and years, but we can still hear defunct Elder Jacob O Meyer? or his successor with a similar voice/accent. ``EJOM 1934-2010``

The profusely illustrated and detailed page,
http://wmlkradio.net/antenna_update_progress.htm
has NO entries since March 26, 2012!

That station Log has some other interesting entries such as an imaginary ``Radio Anguilla, 1530`` [maybe `sold` by a phony broker?]; also defunct MW split frequencies for Dominica and Grenada. The only other US stations are WWSM-1510 Lebanon PA; KBXD-1480 Dallas TX; WWVA-1170 Wheeling WV; KAAY-1090 Little Rock AR (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 13560-SSB, Dec 14 at 0558, Spanish 2-way barely audible right on the ISM hash frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
