Glenn Hauser logs September 3-4, 2016

** AUSTRALIA. 12065, Sept 4 at 1247, R. Australia no signal here, while 12085 and 9580 are OK; the transmitter to PNG which should also be on 15415 the other semiday (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRELAND [non]. 15320, Sunday Sept 4 at 1655, VP signal with English talk, which would be the special RTE relay via SOUTH AFRICA. I almost forgot about it since advance publicity came thru weeks ago, but Eamonn O`Connor in Ireland reminded us circa 1600 on the BDXC-UK yg: ``Subject: [BDXC-UK] rte relay to Africa NOW on 15320 kHz --- GAA hurling Final now being relayed to Africa on 15320 kHz - Eamonn in Dublin``

There`ll be another one at 13-17 UT in two weeks, Sept 18 for a football final. Seems there is only one frequency this year, unlike past years (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 9925, UT Sun Sept 4 at 0150, the Mighty Farty KBC with no signal via Germany; not checked earlier but I suppose this week it was back to only one hour from 0000. From next week publicized S-season change to 6145, where it is not now either (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA [and non]. 7245, Sept 4 at 1230, JBA AM carrier --- while NZ remains on its QSY to 7425, so what`s this? Now confronting the US Navy ham net on LSB. The answer maybe just in from Sei-ichi Hasegawa: R. Rossii has reactivated not only 5900 but also 7245 and 9895:

``9895/7245/5900 kHz R. Rossii
http://radio.chobi.net/DX/bbs/?res:1330#1576
S.Hasegawa``

But that indicates only one transmitter/frequency at a time:
``*????-0700*  7245kHz
*0700-1000*  9895kHz
*1000-1500*  5900kHz, 810kHz(fade in)``

So my 7245 could instead be V. of Tajik, scheduled this hour in Arabic per Aoki and WRTH, but not in HFCC --- is it really active? Always a very tough catch here. CNR2 Beijing also on 7245 after 1300 per Aoki.

5900, Sept 4 at 1236, JBA carrier, S3.5 and can`t make out any modulation, but this is being widely reported as R. Rossii reactivated, from somewhere in the Far East, as it puts a bigsig into Japan. Countless imaginary RR registrations remain in HFCC, including 5900 as ``Khabarovsk`` at 10-14 UT --- but Wolfgang Büschel points out the SW site near there has already been dismantled. So he says,

``5900 kHz location could be Iakutsk Tulagino; or Radio Rossii Kamchatka via the Yelizovo site; or Radio Rossii Arman/Magadan in far northern Siberia`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SIKKIM. 4835, Sept 4 at 1220, JBA carrier detectable in splatter of prolonged 4840 WWCR [q.v.], presumably AIR Gangtok, unless someone report Australia reactivated today. No VL8 carriers audible now on 2325 or 2485. Other JBA carriers indicating INDIA are there on 4760, 4970, 5010 at least (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4875-USB, Sept 4 at 1223, Air Force MARS net, all weak signals, one call maybe AFA5LJ, not certain of the number. Fortunately is one tropical 60mb frequency lacking any broadcasters, not even the Iranian clandestines via Turkmenistan? which survive only in Aoki listings (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1841 monitoring: NOT confirmed, Saturday September 3 at 2230 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB, as it is not on the air (but back after 2300: see WBCQ log). Confirmed, UT Sunday September 4 at 0335 on WA0RCR, 1860-AM, Missouri during the Indonesia/KGI item 14 minutes into show, so started at about 0322. Next:
Sun 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Mon 0030   WRMI 7730 to WNW
Mon 0300v  WBCQ 5130v Area 51 to WSW
Mon 0330   WRMI 9955 to SSE
Mon 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100   WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130   WRMI 15770 to NE [we hope resumed after 3 weeks]
Tue 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100   WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330   WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330v-CUSB, Sept 3 at 2340, WBCQ is on (unlike an hour ago when WOR is scheduled), with oldtime radio drama. This would be Tom Cole Theatre, ``new`` episode about cats, as previewed on Allan Weiner Worldwide for Sat 2300, with repeats coming up at various times on Wed/Thu/Fri, as in my previous report (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 4840, Sept 4 at 1220, WWCR-3 is still on with gospel huxter, so evidently has lengthened its span by an hour, altho still has not updated transmitter schedule since August 31, when it was until 1200*. The pdf program guide, however, is now dated Sept 1, but also shows change to 13845 still at 1200 UT on weekends with University Network, which I did not recognize as what was on 4840. Maybe a mistake: hope so, as it impedes upon 4835 with Sikkim or Australia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 15240, Sunday Sept 4 at 1631, poor signal in presumed Luganda talk, i.e. WWRB carrying R. Munansi clandestine. Seems they are playing less music these days (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Re my log of 1170, WWVA, OH, Alan Furst, Kansas City, replies: ``Glenn, I'm pretty sure you are right about logging WWVA. We used to hear then KVOO on the studio monitors in Wheeling when WWVA was off for maintenance back in the 70s. I've only logged WWVA as far west as Indianapolis. We were told it would interfere pretty badly with Tulsa if left on day pattern. WWVA continues the 'God Block' during evenings. Big money maker.`` Worth further checking west of Wheeling (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VANUATU [and non]. 7260-, Sept 4 at 1232, double JBA carriers making two-tone het with offset BFO, lower one being signature of R. Vanuatu, the upper one being Ulan Bator and/or Xinjiang (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, UT Sun Sept 4 at 0151, VOV is on via WHRI in Spanish, mailbag responding to listeners in Cuba, El Salvador, Argentina with plaudits for the station. El Sal is impressed by hearing a station from the other worldside, evidently not aware it`s really direct from South Carolina, and VOV does not clue him in. Super-patriotic comments relating to independence day. No carrier dropoffs during my brief monitorage, so did it manage to stay on for the entire two hours from 0000 tonight? I was busy mowing and recovering from mowing so no earlier monitoring session.

It appears that all overseas relays except WHRI have been dropped, as still nothing on 12005 or 6175 which might have been Woofferton. Kai Ludwig reports:

``A diplomatic explanation has been given in this show, amongst all the quotations from always the same handful of DXers whose names are quoted up and down the German service mailbag programmes around the world nowadays:
http://vovworld.vn/de-DE/Briefkastensendung/Briefkastensendung-vom-24082016/464262.vov

"Some research in various target countries", aha. Must be hinting at audience research that proved only minuscule, or just "below threshold", audiences for these relays, not justifying the considerable expenses anymore. In case it has been overlooked: It turns out that anything but WHRI 0000-0200 on new 7315 and their own Son Tay transmissions is gone. Kai`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1499.17, Sept 4 at 0559 UT, the off-frequency carrier hetting KSTP 1500 is still audible. This time I try to DF it with the DX-398, and get ESE/WNW (which is helpfully close to the KSTP null). Forget about WNW – there aren`t any 1500s that way. Most likely are six stations in Alabama and Georgia, 1 kW daytimers except for one 5 kW daytimer, and one fulltime with 3 watts at night. Or further afield, TN, SC, MS and FL stations. A DF fix on this from north/east America would be helpful (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 9710, Sept 4 at 0604, fair signal with open carrier, quickly goes off. Nothing scheduled, but best guess is Radio Habana Cuba which is nominally on 9710 only at 11-14 & 21-04 per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11435-USB, Sept 4 at 1308, presumed Indonesian QSO pirates in 2-way, fairly good signals, and somewhat musical altho no outright singing heard. Usually there are a bunch of others in the 11.4`s at 5-kHz intervals, but not this time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 11980, Sept 4 at 1304, whine here at S4, and a bigger whine on 11930 at S9, altho of different pitches. Something going on from Cuban jammers? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 15550-USB, Sept 4 at 1631, very weak signal sounds like English; could it be WJHR ex-15555, where not heard? More like 2-way with pauses. R. Dabanga is through with 15550 via Vatican at 1627 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Glenn Hauser logs September 2-3, 2016

** AUSTRALIA [and non]. Since the quake woke me up [see OKLAHOMA], I check for SIKKIM on 4835, Sept 3 at 1210 UT: It`s only a few minutes after my sunrise, but this is a JBA carrier, less than to be expected from VL8A, so is it still off? I await Ron Howard`s logs today. However, there is also a JBA carrier on 2485, but not 2325, the other VL8s. Also lots of carriers on 60m frequencies of Tibet/China, not so much India. 4940 China is still audible a sesquihour later at 1343! (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** AUSTRALIA. 12065, Sept 3 at 1346, JJBBA carrier, much less than 12085 S9 from Radio Australia, so is 12065 something else with Shep off? 9580 fine as usual (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX ISTENING DIGEST)

** COLOMBIA [and non]. 5910, Sept 3 at 0240, HJDH is off; 6010 has two carriers a bit apart beating, the one below 6010 and probably HJDH, the weaker one above 6010, ZYE521.

BTW, regarding R. Inconfidência, Belo Horizonte, MG, I see in the WRTH 2016 contradictory callsigns for 6010 and 15190: ZYE521 and ZYE622 --- since they are SW frequencies of the same station, should they not be one digit apart instead of 101?? I`ve brought this up before. Website for it in WRTH is http://inconfidencia.com.br – but that forwards to http://inconfidencia.mg.gov.br/ which means it must be owned by the General Mines state government (and BTW station is celebrating its eightieth anniversary). What`s the MW frequency? Too big a list to hunt thru the paper WRTH without a search funxion, but station site says it`s 880 on this page, also about its external SW service:
http://inconfidencia.mg.gov.br/modules/wfchannel/index.php?pagenum=19
WRTH shows the 880 call as ZYL275, so no relation to the SW ones. Searching within station site on both SW calls gets no hits! But then searching on 15190 gets no hits either, even tho we already found it mentioned on the above page (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. Re: ``BOUGAINVILLE. 3325, Sept 2 at 1137, presumed NBC with poor signal, but enough to convey some music, still there at 1231. Going by Ron Howard`s obs; but beware: RRI Palangkaraya is also active from before 1000 until 1700v*, per Atsunori Ishida``. In fact, Bougainville was off that date, so must have been RRI, per Ron Howard:

``3325, NBC Bougainville 1109-1116, Sept 3. No trace of them; clearly off the air; hearing better than normal signal from Pro 1 RRI Palangkaraya; in fact last few days have not heard Bougainville at all. Hiroyuki Komatsubara (Japan) reports Sept 1, at 0904, no NBC signal and Sept 2, again no signal at 0925. What happened? Bougainville had been doing very well last month. 3325, Pro 1 RRI Palangkaraya, 1111, Sept 3, with the nice patriotic song "Garuda Pancasila"; NBC Bougainville not heard this month, so no QRM`` (Glenn Hauser, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KOREA NORTH [non]. 5985, Sept 3 at 1344, JBA carrier here instead of 5965, corresponding to the Shiokaze QSY from JAPAN that Ron Howard reported as of September 1 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MADAGASCAR. 6150, Sept 3 sometime during the 03-04 hour, no signal from La Voz Alegre, as MWV continues to be AWOL. Likewise:
17840, Sept 3 at 1800, no signal from African Pathways Radio, MWV. If Spain can make it on 17855, this should too, if it`s on (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 940, Sept 3 at 0306, good signal in Spanish on N/S antenna, promo for Centro Educativo, ``el espiritualista mejor`` with call-in number repeated several times, so I can be sure of 70 rather than 60: 55-70-10-07-47, ``descubriendo lo paranormal``, and plugging a 9 am sábado event on some Calzada costing 99 pesos. 0309, starts taking call-ins. Has to be XEQ México DF, 50/50 kW. This nonsense is not very good for a station now branding itself a ``Ke Buena``. It seems that XEQ-940 and XEX-730 are the only major DF stations with reliable reception up here any more: certainly not XEW-900 nor XEB-1220 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. Pirate YHWH to return via WBCQ: See U S A

** OKLAHOMA. 1170, Sept 3 at 0302 UT, KFAQ Tulsa promo for ``big changes on Talk Radio 1170, beginning Tuesday at 5 am`` so tune in then after Labor Day --- format change from far-right talk? Dream on, but what? KFAQ had just been getting creamed by WWVA on day pattern: see U S A (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Earthquake report: I am trying to sleep in later, Sept 3 at 1203 UT when I am awakened by a repeated metallic knocking sound --- turns out to be a skillet on the wall hitting the shaking stove next to it. And BTW, the bed is also shaking --- quake! Seems to last for better part of a minute, tho I am not fully alert yet.

USGS reports:
M 5.6 -   14km NW of Pawnee, Oklahoma
Time      2016-09-03 12:02:44 (UTC)
Location  36.429°N 96.923°W
Depth     6.6 km

This made major news as it was felt from Houston to Sioux City at least, and caused some damage around Pawnee. The epicenter is about 53 miles due east of Enid. Fortunately, no significant damage visible around my place. It`s the largest or almost largest quake in recent Oklahoma, depending on refinements. Thank you, oil & gas industry!!!

After 1400 UT, I check out the OKC TV stations: KOCO ``5`` is running a crawler about it, only saying no damage reported. KFOR ``4`` also a crawler. But KWTV ``9`` already has reporters on the ground and in the air around Pawnee with full coverage, along with sibling station KOTV ``6`` Tulsa. Yes, buildings in Pawnee were falling apart, notably Pawnee Bill`s Museum, and the usual store shelves spilt on the floors.

KOCO finally starts some live reporting after 1500 UT, but that has to cut away from stupid ballgame coverage, which is preëmpting the last two hours of ``Litton`s Weekend Adventure`` six nature documentaries which I like to watch on Saturday mornings (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Sept 3 at 0051, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, and this time I stay with it from 0058 to catch exactly when it cut off: 0058:38* following the latest reset. It will keep regressing to 0105 or so by ~6.5 seconds per night until another reset. At that rate, it will take 12 or 13 days just to reach 0100:00* (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 6173.855 approx., Sept 3 at 0217, very weak music here under noise level, i.e. R. Tawantinsuyo, with no VOV/WHRI/WOF to be heard on 6175.0. At 0232 I measure it again and get 6173.84 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SIKKIM. Re ``AUSTRALIA [and non]. 4940 China is still audible a sesquihour later at 1343!`` Ron Howard confirms VL8A, at least, was off 4835 today:

``4835, AIR Gangtok (presumed), Sept 1, 2 & 3 only hearing an open carrier during my normal monitoring times; audio below threshold level; so my Aug 30 & 31 receptions were the best so far; ABC remains silent through Sept 3`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Sept 3 at 1343, SIBC must still be on to produce the JBA carrier this late (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. Re: ``5020, Sept 3 at 1343, SIBC must still be on to produce the JBA carrier this late.`` Ron Howard, California, confirms it was on for a few more minutes:

``5020, Wantok FM relay via SIBC, on Sept 3 back with nice long extended schedule; 1217-1349*. Pop songs; frequent IDs ("This is Wantok FM 96.3. Good times, great music," etc.), which is just the opposite of the SIBC format with no IDs; mostly fair, assisted by the fact my local sunrise was at 1341 UT`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** UGANDA [non]. 15240, Sat Sept 3 at 1759, JBA carrier only, presumably R. Munansi via WWRB, with very poor propagation; WWV:
``Solar-terrestrial indices for 02 September follow.
Solar flux 95 and estimated planetary A-index 39.
The estimated planetary K-index at 1800 UTC on 03 September was 4.
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been moderate.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level occurred``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1841 monitoring: confirmed Friday September 2 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9330.042v-CUSB, S9+20, G-VG. Another attempt to hear me on 7265-CUSB, Hamburger Lokalradio, Göhren, Germany, via the UTwente SDR, Sat Sept 3 at 1447+: nothing but noise. Is this on the air or not? ** U S A. 7490.02-AM, UT Saturday September 3, I listen to almost all of this week`s `Allan Weiner Worldwide` on WBCQ. Says he is also on 5130 and 3250. I find 5129.85-AM audible on delay but too much in the noise level. JBA carrier under the noise on approx. 3250.3 at 0021. Quick call from TimTron asserts that he has improved the 3250 transmitter, so it is now the ``crown jewel here tonight``. Not here.

But first, Allan mentions that there are spiders all over the studio. Most of his show relates to the $500,000 fund-raiser, which he promises to keep promoting the rest of the year. Has premonition that Free Speech will be further curtailed in the next four years, making WBCQ even more vital. Details of the 8 major goals and how to contribute, at http://wbcq.com A kilobuck has come in during the first week for starters.

Says that gh would agree with this: ``SW is a precious worldwide resource which is being abandoned by governments`` --- well, let them, he says, nothing but propaganda. But WBCQ gets new listeners every time a transmitter is turned on.

0025 plugs Andrew Yoders`s new edition of Pirate Radio Annual, nicely laid out and including a DVD.

0037, Allan reads a handwritten not entirely legible letter in pencil, from Joshua, the former pirate YHWH. Altho busted by FCC, has two lectures he still wants to get on shortwave, but no station will take him; one of them about ``Christianity, the Greatest Hoax, Ever``. He`s broke, lives off the grid in his bus, squatting somewhere remote in California, with solar power, batteries, generator, no internet access, and has to ride his bike 18 miles to get postal mail. Says his transmitting equipment with 9 antennas on the bus is operational, on standby until the FCC no longer exists. He was on the air twice a day for a sesquiyear before the FCC finally found him, right under government noses, near Ridgecrest, China Lake weapons test center.

Would like to be on 7490 around 7 pm PT. But ``you`re gonna take heat if you choose to run this stuff. BTW, Brother Stair is an idiot, cult``. Allan says he has already mailed a reply inviting him on for $25 and his CD, when there is a slot available some Wednesday at 9-11 pm ET on 7490 [What? Is Hal Turner gone again? Yes: sked now shows two AWWW hours to fill in].

WBCQ`s 18th anniversary is almost here, next Friday (Sept 9). Then takes a long call from Scott Becker until 0126. Allan says his hobby of buying and selling antique cars generates a little income for WBCQ. A newly acquired 50 kW MW transmitter is on site, which he got from California for only $2K rather than a semimillion such a SW would cost new. It will take a lot of work to modify it for SW, not easy to do, but something he and TimTron enjoy tackling.

Program preview: A new episode of Tom Cole Theatre is coming up for Labor Day weekend, called Cat Watch (? Or is it Cat Wipe?), times:
Wed  9 pm ET on 7490 for two weeks [0100 UT Thus]
Sat  7 pm ET on 9330, and simulcast Wed at 9 pm [Sat 23 & Thu 01 UT]
Thu 10 pm ET on 5130 [Fri 0200 UT]
Fri 11 pm ET on 5130 [Sat 0300 UT]
Since he mentioned Wed first, I`m not sure whether the Sat airings really refer to LD weekend, or the next week?

Agrees the UStream video is poor quality, and someone detects that he is grayer. Says it`s because of losing the love of his life, Jennifer, (2 or 3? years ago), and is still not over it.

Checking all the frequencies at 0131, I find that 5129.86 has improved a bit, running about 50 seconds behind 7490. Listeners in the northeast are not getting 7490 well at all, but 3250 is good, quite the opposite of here. Someone reports that a CME is going on now, and later at 0218 I hear WWV report the K-index at 00 was 5, with moderate storm, G2 level. At 0145, 5130- is still noisy, and 3250+ has improved but still below noise level.

I wasn`t expecting him to be on 9330, and neither was he, at least not mentioned, but there he is too at 0147 check, not synchronized either.

AWWW really ran long this week, but promises always to acknowledge all e-mail (some of which included $$) before finishing. Finally at 0149 benedixion, thanking God for electromagnetic radiation, cockroaches, etc. After The Planet ID, 7490 reverts to Brother Scare. At 0156, not sure if BS, or what, when 90m is still on with enough signal in noise to measure it better: 3250.295.

But I don`t recheck the others till 0220: 3250 is off; 5130- is on with `Open Your Eyes [,] People` YL preacher; 9330.04 surprisingly is replaying the end of last week`s AWWW, prayer, when Pam was accompanying him; 0224 on to some other song (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7504.915, Sept 3 at 0231, WRNO is back on tonight S9+25 with gospel huxter. I keep missing checking whether they are still in Chinese after 0300 certain nights (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5059.05, Sept 3 at 0244, suspicious JBA carrier --- could it be a second-order spur from 5085 WTWW-2? Yes! 5085 is now on with S9+50 music, putting out the usual first-order spurs about 5072.05 and 5097.95 --- and 5059.05 is exactly 13 kHz further down. To be clinched if there is a match further up, on 5110.95 --- and there is! 13 kHz above 5097.95. That would be another good reason for WBCQ to have moved from 5110v to 5130v (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1170, Sept 3 at 0255 UT, I find that IBOC-less KFAQ Tulsa unusually has heavy QRM from a gospel huxter in English, and making SAH of 80/minute = one and one third Hz. On the NRD-545, I`m getting it much better on the N/S wire, i.e. minimizing signal from KFAQ, rather than the E/W ALA-330S. On the DX-398 I try to DF it, and it seems to be only slightly different than KFAQ from the ESE: about ENE/WSW. Program seems to be wrapping up, referring to a ``Restoration message`` from the ``Bible School of Prophecy, Jacksonville``, running past hourtop and of course fading before any ID can get past KFAQ; or is it a sign-off/power-down?

Now to try to locate it. There are no 1170s in Jacksonville, FL, IL, or anywhere, so that`s merely the program source. Here it is, from Florida in fact:
http://www.wordofprophecy.org/
but no station affiliate list, and link to ``Radi-O-Grams`` is something else. Dead-end there. Now to look for likely 1170s by format and DF within reasonable distance:

In NRC AM Log 2016-2017, the only REL stations on 1170 are in AL, AK, CT, KY, MS (GOS), WV. We can rule out AK and CT. Could it be WWVA, really from OH site? Normally has a big null toward KFAQ, protecting each other. Format is primarily TLK, but also REL. From
http://newsradio1170.iheart.com/
you have to go thru the Bloomdaddy (??) drop-down to get to a Religious Programming page:
http://newsradio1170.iheart.com/articles/wwvareligion-programming-page-402500/religion-7483830/
showing WWVA is in fact gospel-huxtering at night, lots of different ones, but here`s an almost-match!

``Word of Prophecy (M-F 10:30p-10:45p) [ET]
Bro. Ray Pringle, Jr.
Jacksonville, FL  32247
www.wordofprophecy.org``

Nothing specified in the 10:45-11:30 pm period, but Pringle must be running longer. This means that WWVA had to be on ND 50 kW daytime pattern until at least 11 pm local. My DF on it also fits. Quite a rarity here; in fact I don`t think I`ve ever heard WWVA in OK (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [non]. Re WORLD OF RADIO 1841 monitoring, did anyone hear it on HLR 7265, Sat Sept 3 at 1430? Received a report with .wav files from Franco Baroni, San Pellegrino Terme, province Bergamo, Italy, indicating sufficient reception with some deep fades, and turned off immediately at 1500 without any ID, then some time pips audible, China? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM. 7315, Sept 2 at 2359, no signal from WHRI before Vietnam relay, checking again on the third night of new schedule of English/Spanish/English Spanish semihours at 0000-0158. Carrier on at *2359.5, but keeps going off and on and off and on, no modulation applied. Still off at 0011. I`m mainly listening to Allan Weiner on WBCQ [q.v.] but keep checking 7315. Finally at 0023 I find it on, toward the end of VOV English, to stay? NO, next check not until 0125 when it`s off (clearing 7315 for some ``running water`` at 0127). 0131 still off when Spanish should be repeating, still off at 0145. So much for that. Never any VOV on 6175 or 12005 either. At 0314, however, I find 7315 is back on at S9+10 with WHRI praise music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1499.17, Sept 3 at 0216 UT, JBA carrier making het against 1500 KSTP, again. I`ve been reporting this a few nights now and no replies if anyone else has heard or IDed it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Glenn: -- "1499.17, Sept 3 at 0216 UT...no replies if anyone else has heard or IDed it" – Greg Hardison, California replies:   ``I didn't have frequency measuring capabilities, but definitely heard a just-under 1 kHz het, weak on the low side of 1500, via an Athens, GA remote rig (go Dawgs!!); I believe this was on Thurs Sept 01 around 0800 UT`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

The K7RA Solar Update

Over the past week (August 25-31) average daily sunspot numbers rose from 33.9 to 60.1, and average daily solar flux increased from 79.6 to 87.9, compared to the previous seven days.

In fact, the average daily sunspot number for August was 50.4, the highest since February, when it was 56.1.

The three month moving averages of sunspot numbers for this year were 49, 45.3, 43.1, 35.4, 33 and 33.5.

Over the same period average planetary A index declined from 9.7 to 8, and mid-latitude A index went from 8.7 to 6.9. That’s a nice combination, lower geomagnetic activity and higher solar activity. As solar activity declines overall, there will be brief respites when sunspots increase, but only temporarily,

Predicted solar flux is 100 on September 2-4, 95 on September 5-8, 85, 78 and 80 on September 9-11, 82 on September 12-16, 80 on September 17-21, 82 on September 22, 85 on September 23-25, 82 on September 26-27, 85 on September 28-29, 80 on September 30 and October 1, 78 on October 2-7, 80 on October 8, and 82 on October 9-13.

Predicted planetary A index is 15 on September 2, 12 on September 3-4, 15 on September 5-6, 10 on September 7-8, 5 on September 9-12, then 10 and 8 on September 13-14, 5 on September 15-16, then 8, 5, 15, 12 and 8 on September 17-21, 5 on September 22-24, then 20, 18, 10, 15, 12, 10 and 8 on September 25 through October 1, 15 on October 2-3, 8 and 10 on October 4-5, and 5 on October 6-9.
