This message received today from the McDonalds, the founders of Radio Kahuzi in Bukavu, DRC in which they discuss an increase in power for the station. not clear is whether this will be permanent or is just a test. The station often suffers power issues due to local power grid problems there, and is sometimes off from day day, on others:
Today I upped the Watts from 500 to 750 Watts !
The reception here in Bukavu was possibly 1/4 to 1/2 stronger !
But SNEL cut the current and came back with very low voltage, and Danny closed down at 19:45 to go home just now.
He will be on Sunday morning at 8 or 9 Am and Samuel the Afternoon and evening, with the 750 Watts for now, unless problems develop; thus far we have not noticed RF problems with our lap top in the studio, nor high winds and storms that might be dangerous for the antenna wires !
So we'll see how it goes.
But the center pole is not as high as I would like for the increased power, because the studio is too close below the Inverted V antenna.
