Glenn Hauser logs October 24, 2013 [more]

** BRAZIL. 11780, Oct 24 at 0512, RNA usual very good strength, but distorted, and unstable carrier. Can`t they tell something is wrong in Rodeador Park?? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGSEST)

** KOREA NORTH. 4000, Oct 24 at 1255, strong signal with very distorted Korean talk, 1256 horn music; 1300, 3+1 accurate timesignal with finale higher-pitched and prolonged, like NHK. In pause before it, a dull roar, but not exactly a jamming sound. Continuous Korean talk continues after 1300 so I search for a // between 3 and 7 MHz, and none of the Koreans/clandestines match, including 3480, 3985, 4450, 4557, 6012, 6250, 6348, 6400, 6600.

Finally at 9665 I do get a match at 1311 just as they are both starting martial choral music! So it`s KCBS Pyongyang, Kanggye site on 9665. The closest Kanggye site to 4000 listed in Aoki is 3959 – with same service, so maybe that one off-frequency, unheard there. If the sites don`t have to match, KCBS is also listed from other low-power sites on 3976, 3980 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 690, Oct 24 at 0531 UT, ID by SHVA mentions Zacatecas, so must be per Cantú:
690 XEMA La Mejor + FM 107.1 Fresnillo, Zac. 50,000 2,000
A state seldom heard here. With SAH from KGGF KS open carrier amid other QRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1030, Oct 24 at 1240 UT, several news items about Chihuahua city, with sounders between them, heavy CCI; Then promos ``alta definición`` on 103.3 FM coordinated with 1430 AM, and four different Fórmula HD channels (wouldn`t that require a second FM transmitter? I may have missed the other one). There is no 1430 anywhere in Chihuahua state, nor a 103.3. That obviously refers to the Fórmula flagship in México DF, where HD is widely transmitted (no 1430 there either). This one is not in Chihuahua city either but per Cantú:
1030 XEYC Radio Fórmula Cd. Juárez, Chih. 5,000 500
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1692 monitoring: confirmed first airing after 0330 UT Thursday Oct 24 on webcast of WRMI, inaudible on 9955. Then:
Thu 2101 on WTWW-1 9479
UT Fri 0327v on WWRB 5050
UT Sat 0200v on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v-CUSB
Sat 0630 & 1430 on HLR 7265-CUSB
Sat 1500 on WRMI 9955
Sat 2329v on WTWW-2 9930
UT Sun 0401 on WTWW-1 5830
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1140, Oct 24 at 1236 UT, ``Radio Las Américas, 11-40`` ID after norteña music, loops about ENE/WSW. No such slogan listed for a Mexican and there aren`t any westward from XEMR Monterrey, the nighttime dominator. The SS in Arkansas is ``La Más Mexicana`` --- or was --- Google soon leads to Rogers AR now branded with this new slogan, broadening its scope:
https://www.facebook.com/lamasmexicana?ref=stream&filter=2
http://www.lasamericas1140am.com/
Autolaunches webcast whether you want it or not.

Really KLTK, COL Centerton AR, address in Rogers, 5 kW ND daytimer. Must be a fairly recent change, as still with old slogan in NRC AM Log 2013 and the last time I logged it. Per own website, also look out for ``La Más Perrototota y Punto``, ``Pura Música Perrona``. The new name may have more to do with Supermercados Las Américas than continental outreach, whose ads are splashed all over the page; new station owner? FCC AM Query still shows licensee as La Mas Mexicana LLC.

I figure perrototota would be too idiomatic for my paper 626-page Random House dixionary, and I am right; perrona isn`t in it either, and both also stump Google translate. So what do these terms mean or connote? Are they familiar to any Mexican/American, or regionalisms? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
