UNID Morse signals jamming 3985 kHz Shortwaveservice

Unid station jamming http://shortwaveservice.com Kall-Krekel on 3985 kHz in morsecode, copied today at 1639z: „Kall Krekel is jamming other radio stations for many years, last time Dec 27. Please stop jamming other stations in future. Thank you.“

Tuned in this evening at 1702 UTC and there a number of Morse signals on 3985 co-channel Shortwave service from Germany (which is carrying continuous pop music - not the usual programmes from Radio Belarus etc). Any Amateurs able to translate the Morse code?

The K7RA Solar Update

Tad Cook, K7RA, Seattle, reports: Sunspot activity persisted this week, although the numbers were a little lower. The average daily sunspot number declined from 124.4 to 110.1. Average daily solar flux slipped slightly, from 125 to 124. Average daily planetary A index went from 9.1 to 6.4, and average middle latitude numbers changed from 6.4 to 4.4.

New sunspot groups appeared on December 25, 26, and 28.

Solar flux over the next month is expected to peak at 130 on January 18 – 19, and the numbers are 100 on December 31 – January 1 – 2; 98, 95, and 95 on January 3 – 5; then 90, 92, and 100 on January 6 – 8; 105 and 110 on January 9 – 10; 115 on January 11 – 13; 118 on January 14 – 15; then 122 and 128 on January 16 – 17; 130 on January 18 – 19; 128, 125, and 120 on January 20 – 22; 125 on January 23 – 24; 122 on January 25; 120 on January 26 – 27; 115, 110, 100, and 95 on January 28 – 31; 90 on February 1 – 2; 92 and 100 on February 3 – 4; 105 and 110 on February 5 – 6, and 115 on February 7 – 9.

Predicted planetary A index is 8, 5, 12 and 8 on December 31 – January 3; 5 on January 4 – 10; 10 on January 11 – 12; 5 on January 13 – 14; 8 and 12 on January 15 – 16; 8 on January 17 – 18; 5 on January 19 – 22; 8, 10, 8, and 8 on January 23 – 26; then 5 on January 27 – February 6, and 8 on February 7 – 8.

JK Janda, OK1HH, offers his weekly commentary on the sun, the magnetosphere, and Earth’s ionosphere for December 30, 2021. (A continuation of Earth’s magnetic field activity predictions, published between 1978 – 2021.)

Solar activity was a little more vivid than we expected. Both spot and flare activity predominated in the Southern Hemisphere, while small coronal holes were observed mostly in the Northern Hemisphere.

This corresponded with irregular occurrences of the slightly increased activity of the Earth’s magnetic field and irregularities in the daily course of the ionosphere parameters.

The surprise came after the increase in proton density in the solar wind in the evening of December 29, where only a relatively small increase in its group velocity was observed. The result in the ionosphere was higher critical frequencies in the F2 layer in the middle of the night, and an increased occurrence of scattering and extended reflections, especially on the morning of December 30.

Mike, KM0T, in northwestern Iowa (EM13) wrote early on December 29 about 6 meters:

“Watching Spaceweather.com for a few days, and they predicted a few M-class flares hitting, but they seemed to have missed us. But I also noticed that the flux was around 140, and, knowing that a slight disturbance could skew things the right way, I was somewhat aware of things.

“Then I saw TEP-chordal stuff happening on December 26 to ZL/VK, which did not really surprise me thinking we may have gotten a few glancing blows from the flares. However, I did not see many if any midwest reports, so I sort of ignored it.

“The next day I saw it again, but was busy. Then, I saw an email from W7XU (Arliss in South Dakota) saying ZL was in. Sure enough. I turned the radio on and got decodes from ZL7DX. It appeared that there was an Es link in the midwest to DM43/XE area that was getting into the TEP-Chordal hops. I believe ZL7 was working a few XEs on FT8. So, I found one decode and moved my TX frequency up and started calling –17 report. He came back a few minutes later with –20, and then my RR73 was answered 73 in same sequence. It all happened very quickly. Then he was gone!

“Thought it was my first ZL, then I found out it was ZL7.

“Not sure anyone this far north and east worked him. The stacked six-element 6-meter Yagis were as low as possible, due to recent wind storms. Bottom one is about 24 feet, then about 20 feet higher on the mast for the upper one. 1.5 kW, no preamp, FLEX-6600.”

Related to this, see this article by Carl, K9LA.

Grant, KZ1W wrote on the Western Washington DX Club email list on December 29:

“N6MZ and I were separately working EU stations a couple of weeks ago on 12 meters well before local sunrise. Clearly, the short path wasn’t open, and we were mystified how that can happen.

“This week I am working EU on 15 well before sunrise.

“Both bands are very limited on short path with sunrise here and sunset in EU so close together at this time of year.

“I found a possible explanation in K9LA’s Propagation book: When US amateurs point antennas at Central Africa toward the magnetic equator, the higher level of ionization there often causes signals to be scattered. If EU points south to SW, a portion of their signals will be side-scattered west. The path is optimized roughly between 1200 and 1500 UTC, and seeking the best azimuth is worth trying. Should work on 10 meters, if EU is there.

“With QRO, a beam, and FT8, there is enough gain to make it work. Try it if the 40-meter FT8 mess is too annoying. But I did work A71AE Qatar on long path on 40 this week for a new band and a Marathon count.

I’ve used NE-aimed scattering paths on 10 meters open to the Caribbean, but not to EU. Different mechanisms I think. Learn something new all the time.”

AG7N responded:

“20 has been excellent to EU about 8 – 9 AM local. I’ve been working my good friend DF9LJ, who lives close to the Danish border, on CW and SSB at 599/59 the last few days. The band closes about 9:15 AM local. On 40, EU has been coming in at 7:30 AM local (1530 UTC) but I’ve been receiving the signals LP and SP simultaneously, which makes copy difficult at moderate CW speeds.”

W0PB wrote:

“On December 19 between 2032 and 2035 UTC on 10 meter CW, I worked Tord, SM3EVR, and Per, SM2LIY, in that order. Both were 579 – 589 here in West Des Moines, Iowa. They both gave me a 559 report from my 100 W and ground-mounted vertical. They disappeared 10 minutes later.”

N0JK wrote:

“Some sporadic-E December 26 from Kansas to N5BO (EM60) Florida. He received me on 50.313 MHz FT8 at –21 dB. Stations along the Gulf Coast and Texas worked New Zealand on 6 meter FT8 with Es links to TEP.”

Jeff, N8II, wrote from West Virginia on December 30:

“I worked MI0SAI and EI9HX with S-9 signals on 12 meters SSB at about 1545 UTC today. VE2CSI in CQ zone 2 (NE QC) was S-9 + 25 dB on 10 meters CW via Es at the same time. The DXMaps MUF was above 30 MHz in almost all directions from FM19 at 1700 UTC, but I only worked one station in San Jacinto County, Texas, plus Reno, Nevada, on either F2 or double hop Es.

“Sunday through Wednesday I worked EU on 10 meters,, with Tuesday being the best day. Two stations in Scotland were S-9 at around 1400 UTC Tuesday. They included Ian, MM0TFU, who always seems to be there when band is open. He now runs 400 W to a five-element Yagi.

“Also, I worked MI0SAI and an OE6 on 20 meters SSB at 2130 UTC Wednesday about 25 minutes before my sunset and many hours past EU sunset with possible Es aid.”

Don’t forget Straight Key Night tonight and tomorrow (January 1 UTC). I will be using keys from the estate of Vern Buttenob, K7AYE, who administered my Novice license exam when I was 12 years old.

Kids Day takes place on New Year's Day.

Sunspot numbers for December 23 – 29 were 143, 145, 117, 95, 85, 107, and 79, with a mean of 110.1. The 10.7-centimeter flux was 129.8, 126.2, 130.7, 125.4, 123.9, 120.5, and 111.4, with a mean of 124. Estimated planetary A indices were 4, 5, 7, 3, 10, 9, and 7, with a mean of 6.4. Middle latitude A index was 2, 3, 5, 2, 8, 6, and 5, with a mean of 4.4.

WOR 2119 confirmed UT Fri Dec 31 at 0130 on WRWI 7780, S9/+10 but noisy direct, likewise at Virginia SDR; better S9+10 and not noisy into Maine SDR. BUT 5850 is OFF the air! Not heard direct or at remotes. It is back on by 0159 when WOR is over, maybe a bit earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

WEWN, RCM, is still off at 1748 check. Probably due to Blitz over central Alabama, Georgia: https://www.blitzortung.org/en/live_lightning_maps.php?map=30

Shux; 1902 check, WEWN back on 12050, no Ndarason. 15610 English also started, Es boost so can hear the squeal. Apparently live show commenting on ``insane weather`` B`ham are having, T-storms this morning (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7730, UT Fri Dec 31 at 0035 tune-in, lots of clips some in English and the great music of the defunct Radio Sweden, which left SW in 2010 -- it`s the topic of `La Rosa de Tokio` on WRMI this week, presumably with some further repeats (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 5040, Dec 30 at 0725, JBA carrier presumably RV, with Cuba off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Encore is a one-man operation. WRMI and Channel 292 are very generous with their air-time but Encore still costs around 200 Dollars/Euros a month to broadcast.
If you can - send a small contribution to help Encore keep going.
There is a PayPal donation button now on the homepage of the website - www.tumbril.co.uk - which folks can use if they want to. If PayPal is no good for you then send me an email and we'll sort something else out.
Thank you.

A big thanks to the folks who have donated already - It's enough to keep going for another few weeks.

This week's Programme - First broadcast on New Year's Day Channel 292 - starts with some Bach solo cello, part of the Damnation of Faust by Berlioz, and three pieces by Jim Perkins - the contemporary British composer.
After that - The Devil's Trill Sonata by Tartini, and three movements form Ned Rorem's Mallet Concerto composed for and played by percussionist Evelyn Glennie.

Channel 292 can be pulled live off the internet if the reception is poor in your location. Easy to find their site with a google search.
A very good site for online SDR receivers all over the world is: http://kiwisdr.com/public/ Click the 'Map' button in the top left of the screen.

Radio208 back on the air on shortwave

Radio208 is back on 5970 kHz broadcasting 24/7 with 100W from Hvidovre, Copenhagen. Has been off the air since December 9th due to aerial problems (water in the balun).

Radio208 can now be received a lot better during nighttime on 1440 kHz (300W from Ishøj, Copenhagen) – because Saudi Arabia apparently has ceased broadcasting on 1440 kHz.

Last Channel 292 Newsletter in 202

Dear friends and listeners of Radio Channel 292, at the end of the year some more news.

For the first time ever you can receive Radio ohne Namen - jetzt geht's los on 9670 kHz, too; this will be on Saturday and Sunday: https://www.channel292.de/schedule-9670-khz/, SDXF from Sweden, directed to Scandinavia on Saturday, and also on Saturday Crusader Radio targeting Russia.

At the moment we experience some problems, caused by a Windows update last week, but this should be solved soon.

Finally in 2021 we could finish our lawsuit against the transmitter site in Kall. Already some years ago Kall was located as the source of jamming of our frequencies 3955 and 6070 kHz by the Bundesnetzagentur (BNA); even during this lawsuit still in progress, we still were jammed on 3955 kHz, and again the BNA located Kall as perpetrator. Now the person in charge of the transmitters signed in court a declaration to cease and desist enforced by penalty, so we hope that this bollocks finally stopped.

We wish all our friends and listeners a happy and successful 2022, and say thank you to all, who have supported us in which way ever.

2022 Winter SWL Fest Forums Casting Call

As you may have already learned, the 35th Winter SWL Fest will be virtual again this time using the ZOOM platform. Dates are March 4-5, 2022 and the schedule will track last year’s. (For reference, last year’s schedule remains in place on the Fest web site: swlfest.com )

Last year’s event went very well, if the reactions we received were any indication. While we wish we could be all back together in some eating, drinking and sleeping establishment, we think you’ll agree from just watching what’s going on around us that such an eventuality is just not prudent or possible this time. But hope for the future springs eternal!

The program, while somewhat truncated from the in-person version, is coming together nicely. But we still have a couple of slots open and therefore cordially invite you to step up and offer a suggestion and your services. The Fest forums are the centerpiece of the event where knowledgeable presenters conduct sessions on radio-related (SW, MW, amateur, LW, etc.) matters during which they share their expertise with and enthusiasm over a favorite topic or activity. Doing this over the ZOOM platform will truly give you a worldwide audience — and open this opportunity to potential presenters worldwide — if last year’s attendance and program are any indication.

If you wish to be a part of the 35th Winter SWL Fest - Virtual Version by presenting a forum, please contact me — John Figliozzi — at the e-mail address below and pitch your topic. We’d like to have these in hand by January 10, 2022 and will return an answer to your proposal by January 15, 2022.

Thanks for reading this. Responding to me, John Figliozzi, jfiglio1(at)nycap(dot)rr(dot)com).

73s, 88s and best regards,

The 35th Winter SWL Festmeisters

Glenn Hauser logs December 28-29, 2021

** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RCUSB, Dec 29 at 1419 tune-in via Brasil SDR, LRA36 is active again this summer Wednesday, only S6-S7 with songs. 1428 M&W discussing something, probably Argentine; 1430 full ID as ``LRA36, R Nacional Arcángel San Gabriel``; music. 1440 different ID as ``Nacional Antárdida Argentina, en todo el país, la radio pública``, more music; 1450 fading down to JBA music, but still on past 1459, 1507, 1512; 1515 long ID; 1528 sign-off announcement, Antártida themesong heard for first time today until 1532* when carrier is also off. O, for the good old days when I could pull it in direct over a mostly-water path; one more check at 1454: no. Power was then probably 10 kW rather than below 1 kW now (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. 9666.468, Dec 29 at 0311, RVM is one of better 31m signals except Cuba, while Americans are almost gone. Upcreepward continues, my last previous measurement 9666.388, Dec 26 at 0711, i.e. 68 hours ago and 80 Hz apart, or average of 1.18 Hz/hour or 28.2 Hz/day, so clearly not the same rate as intervals before (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 257 MCW kHz, Dec 29 at 0706 UT, dash and XE, 100 watt ND beacon at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. No sign of the USonians normally heard on 257, JYR in Nebraska or FWC in Illinois. Had logged XE only twice before on Dec 25, 2020 and Feb 17, 2021 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9650, Dec 29 at 0316, RHC Spanish, suptorted S9+10/20, instead of 9710; and no 9700 English either; weaker // 9535. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 6060, Dec 29 at 0723, S9+10 of humbuzz only from this sole RHC transmitter still on. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9899.6, Dec 29 at 2202 quick check direct, R. Cairo at S8/S9 but extremely suptorted, unreadable, presumably English. Same old story. Why in the world don`t they either fix it or turn it off again? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY. 15269.904, Dec 29 at 1455 weak talk perceptibly off-frequency before measuring until 1459*. Aoki shows this hour only is VOA Kurdish via Biblis. So much for German precision? Or USAGM; other sites imprecise São Tomé, Saipan/Tinian, Thailand (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Wed Dec 29 at 2300, REE token English preview of feature to be about Magritte: but same was said Mon Dec 27 which I took to be a repeat and also tuned out, so another repeat of repeat? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K [and non]. I try to catch `BBC World News America`, the 2200 UT edition which is delayed one hour on PBS via OETA to 2300; for a broader worldview than on US nets. But currently nix the America part as staff are on holiday and it originates with unknown anchors in London. Dec 29 they were standing by for a G. Maxwell verdict, and when it came about 2310 blew away the rest of the world for this BREAKING NEWS, anchor and NYC correspondent winging it repetitively for the rest of the semihour. Another annoyance recently is stepping up of the percussion liners every few minutes, as if the real news need to be hyped in that way. Of course other nets do some of that but not to such an extent. At least today the B.N. overcame a lot of it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 2118 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday December 28 at 2330 on WRMI 9955: at Maryland remote, tuned in at 2328 to end of `Wavescan` at S9, but drastic fadedown into noise/jamming by 2330! Sundown+ MUF plunge if not a brownout got us. At 2333 I change to further and wester SDR in Missouri, where we`re VG S9+10/20, no jamming audible. But by 2354 it`s faded down to S6-S9. 2355, another change to SDR further and norther, Winnipeg: slightly better S7-S9, and can tell not cut off or overlapped at 2359 conclusion.

As usual zzzed the Wed 1030 on WRMI 5850; hope someone heard it.

Confirmed Wednesday December 29 from 2200:21 on WBCQ 7489.96v, S9+20 direct vs high local line noise level. Next:

0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

One may also contribute via PayPal, not necessarily in US funds to: woradio at yahoo.com (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9975, Dec 29 at 0319, KVOH is indeed back on air but JBA as domestic MUF has plunged. Even 9330 WLCR/WBCQ at 0318 is a JBA carrier. 500 kW doesn`t do you any good if you insist on sending above the current MUF. 31m WRMIs also JBA. Cuba and Brasil, qq.vv., still much better (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED [and non]. 6114, Dec 29 at 0724, no RTTY INTRUDER any more now or any other time at various chex; gone by the time WWCR reactivated 6115 in the 22-02 span, tho doubt that had anything to do with it. Now Nikkei Japan 6115 is in the clear with music (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

WRMI AIRS TEXAS RADIO SHORTWAVE CORONAVIRUS PROGRAM FROM MARCH 2020 AT 0200 UTC ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 2, 2022

WRMI’s broadcasting a re-creation of a Texas Radio Short Wave program that North American pirate stations relayed in March 2020. The broadcast begins at 0200 UTC on Sunday, January 2, 2022

The original program audio wasn’t in TRSW’s archives, but we had a copy of the playlist, so the songs are the same as in the original broadcast. We didn’t announce song titles back then, so this re-creation doesn’t include them. We suggest using Shazam to identify the music.

We didn’t begin and end our programs with our signature tune, the Yellow Rose of Texas, so we added it to this program.

If you’d like one of our re-created eQSLs, and we know you would, send a detailed reception report covering at least 20 minutes of what you hear to texasradiosw@gmail.com.

** U K. Radio Emma Toc World Service: I watched and listened to the much-publicized live webcast, Dec 28 at 1600-1720 UT, via https://www.mixcloud.com/live/RadioEmmaToc/ Jim = James Salmon says it`s a test but he certainly seems to have it together. No problem for him to keep talking constantly, acknowledging live contacts; plays some short audiovideos he`s edited down including two made at WRMI, including revelation of the ``Jesus Stick``. And entire thing will be available for playback. He was really on SW WRMI earlier this year and maybe shall be again (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. I`m waiting and waiting for some winter sporadic E to reach the FM band. DXMAP often shows MUFs circa 72 MHz, but that`s not enough. Finally I settle for something inferior, seeking 28+ MHz ham beacons on 10 meters. December 28 at 2020, 2026 I detect only two:

28214.2 CW, W6REK/B calls alternating slow sequences and fast ones. Maybe really the frequency listed at https://www.qsl.net/wj5o/bcn.htm ``28.2143 W6REK C SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA # 25W, VERTICAL`` It`s JBA requiring multiple passes to copy, new log here, and nearby in CA:

28300.0 CW, K6FRC/B, stronger and easy copy, also the one on 13565 but it`s in Patterson; all three near the Bay Area, limited opening: ``28.300 K6FRC C TRACY, CALIFORNIA # 100W, "POGO stick" VERTICAL Freq change 8 July 09``. Recheck at 2046: all gone. At first I also tuned up 28 MHz but did not hear any phone signals; nor on 25- MHz band nor on 21+ MHz band but see WRMI 13m log. There was some skip activity on the 27 MHz CBand (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 3215, Dec 26 at 2328, S9/+25 of dead air from WWRB; not to be outdone by CUBA, some modulation missing at Manchester (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9960, Dec 28 at 0742, enough TOMBS audio here to match it to S9+20 WRMI 9955, confirming this as a spur of that; and no doubt the matching one on 9950 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 21525, Dec 28 at 2032, WRMI is S9+25 instead of usual JBA, so sporadic E certainly in play here. Unfortunately nothing but gospel huxters here including the notorious and dead Tony Alámo tnx to ``Radio Africa``, not even any DX programs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9330, Dec 28 at 2034 check, NO signal from WLCR/WBCQ, crashed again. Neighbour 9265 WINB achieves S9+15 with 1/10 the nominal power (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 9975, Dec 28 at 0741, KVOH not heard, but would have signed off by now. Re my earlier zero signal at 0309, I later asked Ray Robinson at 0425: ``Hi Ray, Zero signal on 9975 tonight. Wonder if KVOH is off the air or propagation? Holiday break? 73, Glenn``

Reply at 0637 I did not see till later: ``Re: No 9975 -- Weather-related outage. Storm damage caused a short in the high voltage power supply.`` And at 0648: ``Hi, Glenn. We're actually back on again now (0645 UTC). Ray`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, December 28 at 2044 UT, KLEY Wellington KS, still strong steady signal of rock music dead air (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9700, Dec 27 at 0650, RHC English, music mixing about equal level with TRT Turkish, making a fast SAH, nearing end of a 3-hour collision when RHC leaps to here instead of 6165, where there are also collisions, with NHK. Something`s always wrong at RHC. I won`t say ``awry at Ankara`` since VOT is duly registered here, but if they were really on the ball would avoid Cuba whether official or not (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 13636 & 13764 approx., Dec 27 at 1603, S9 FMish extremely distorted spurblobs, with F# tone and some program modulation, out of 13700 RHC which is S9+10 but itself undermodulated; just in time as all cut off late at 1604.5*. No time to seek second-orders at 2 x 64 kHz further out. Something`s always wrong at RHC; but it`s been a while since these have upshown (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9700, Dec 28 at 0315, RHC English here not 6165, only S5-S7 during Chief Meterologist slot. The other side:

``CORRUPTION --- The campaign against GAESA hotels is not anti-Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero grumbles about the losses from the campaign to boycott tourism to Cuba. Juan Antonio Blanco, Miami 24 Dic 2021 - 17:19 CET

On December 17 Prime Minister Manuel Marrero condemned "a media campaign against tourism in Cuba," in reference to the call to boycott tourist trips to the island, but his whining about how the losses that this campaign inflicts on "Cuba" and the "Cuban tourism industry" constitutes a botched charade. What is Manuel Marrero's role as Prime Minister? ...`` https://diariodecuba.com/cuba/1640362784_36406.html (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** EGYPT. 9899.598v, Dec 27 at 2123, S9+20/30 of dead air in English into UTwente, and way off-frequency from 9900, R. Cairo still wasting its kW by failing to feed from studio to transmitter - weakest link syndrome. At 2200 however I do detect a trace of timesignal a few seconds late. Something`s always egregious in Egypt (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PUERTO RICO. 391 MCW kHz, numerous beacon bandscans last 5+ weeks have not found any signal from San Juan / Dorado, DDP, allegedly 2 or even 3 kW, since I did log it once on November 16. It used to be regular last winter. But RNA shows it last logged by someone on 2021-12-25 (Glenn Hauser, OK, Dec 28, WOR)

** TAIWAN. 9690, Mon Dec 27 at 1612, poor signal in Japanese, not // 12030 where REE Spain is strong off the back from ME beam. It`s clandestine Furusato no Kaze from Japan via 300 kW, 2 degrees from Paochung for Korea North, daily at 1600-1630 -- certainly enough to QRM the weak REE signal when it starts at 1500 weekends, but not until 1900 weekdays, the so-called North American service. Also, CGTN Bengali via Kunming is on 9690 at 1500-1600. Standard remark about REE frequency mismanagement (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 9700: see CUBA [and non]

** U S A. 9975, Dec 28 at 0309, zero signal from KVOH, off the air, holiday break? Or is it propagation. WRMIs and other USignals on 9 MHz band are JBA at best, even 9330, but WRMI still VG on 7570. Amazingly there are no KiwiSDRs in the Los Ángeles area to confirm it on groundwave; the nearest is San Diego where would not expect to hear it anyway, and I do not at 0354 check. WWV also JBA on 10000, but by email as of 0300 says K index 2, SF 124, no storms, which ought to mean sufficient conditions (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1130 kHz, Dec 27 at 1950 & 2046 UT chex, KLEY Wellington KS once again has reverted to continuous air that is dead. In past has also let this run all-night 24 hours obviously on 250 watt day power rather than licensed one watt night. Tough luck, KWKH! Anyhow, the electric bill must be negligible. Something`s always wrong at Rockin`-M Media - based on a cattle brand logo (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 1690 kHz, Dec 27 at 2052 UT, talk station pausing for WVON ID/promos, and fading down. Skywave already in play from Chicago into the E-W longwire here and not much other X-band activity able to overcome the high local noise level. Nothing even on 1700 and a little KC/MO starting to show on 1660. CoL Berwyn IL which is 658 statute miles = 1029 km away (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED [and non?]. 9950, 9960, 9965, 9970, Dec 27 at 0652, JBA carriers on all of these while TOMBS on WRMI is very strong on 9955, splashing at least upon 9950. What could these be? Both EiBi and Aoki have nothing on any except 9970 CNR1 jamming and Sound of Hope! The always incomplete and misleading HFCC shows `HBN` PALAU on 9965, 24 hours, but we know that`s merely available, their true usage much less than that but possibly changed to include this time and day? BTW, HFCC attributes 9965 to ``Republic of Palau`` rather than that ministry in West Virginia which now owns & runs it. I suspect 9950 & 9960 most likely be 5 kHz parasitic spurs out of WRMI 9955, just like they constantly produce on 4975 from the 4980 transmitter, and now an even weaker one also detectable on 4985 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Highlights of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
20 - 26 December 2021

Solar activity was at low levels with C-class flare activity on
23-26 Dec. Moderate levels of solar activity were observed on 20-22
Dec due to M-class flare activity. Region 2908 (S20, L=300,
class/area=Dai/100 on 22 Dec) produced M1/1n flares at 20/1136 and
22/0706 UTC while Region 2916 (S18, L=194, class/area=Ekc/450 on 25
Dec) produced two M1 flares at 21/0750 and 21/1144 UTC. The
remainder of the period was dominated by frequent C-class flare
activity primarily from Regions 2908 and 2916, in addition to
Regions 2907 (S22, L=313, class/area=Eki/300 on 23 Dec) 2918 (N19,
L=211, class/area=Dki/280 on 25 Dec).

No proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit was
normal to moderate on 20-22 Dec and at high levels on 23-26 Dec
following CH HSS-associated enhancements.

Geomagnetic field activity reached active levels on 20-21 Dec and
unsettled levels on 22 Dec due to the influences of a negative
polarity CH HSS. Quiet to unsettled levels were observed on 25 Dec
due to what appeared to be the possible arrival of a CME from 21
Dec. Quiet field conditions and a nominal solar wind regime
dominated the remainer of the period.

Forecast of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
27 December - 22 January 2022

Solar activity is expected to be mostly at very low to low levels,
with isolated M-class flare activity possible, throughout the
outlook period.

No proton events are expected at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit is
expected to reach high levels on 27 Dec-03 Jan and 17-22 Jan. Normal
to moderate levels are expected prevail throughout the remainder of
the period.

Geomagnetic field activity is expected to reach active levels on
25-29 Dec and 16 Jan due to CH HSS influences. Quiet to unsettled or
generally quiet conditions are expected for the remainder of the
period.

Radio Emma Toc World Service Listeners

Thanks to everyone who joined me recently for our first test stream broadcast. I'm looking at making this a regular event, & will be carrying out another broadcast during this Christmas holiday period on Tuesday 28th December at 16:00UTC. This will again be on our Mixcloud stream page, & will again cover general radio enthusiast items including a look at WRMI (& their 'Jesus Stick'!), distribution of solar powered radios in Africa, & more offshore vessels & forts with radio connections.

If you would like to join me, simply click on the link below just before 16:00UTC on Tuesday, & all being well, I will be there from 16:00UTC. I will try & play a recording of the show once this has finished, & if possible return at 20:00UTC for more of the same.

Please note - there's nothing from us on this page before we start our stream.

For further details have a look here at my Twitter or Facebook pages

If there are any problems or changes then I will post on the above nearer the time. Hope to see you on Tuesday!

Many thanks.
Jim

Broadcasting In Russian Handbook

31st edition of the "Broadcasting in Russian" Handbook, published by the St. Petersburg DX Club, has been recently released. The handbook is the most comprehensive guide to broadcasts in Russian on long, medium and short waves. Its "Air Broadcasting" section features all radio stations transmitting in Russian at present time, which could be received in Russia and neighbouring countries (totally 43 stations from 28 countries and territories of the world).

Station listings include frequency and programme schedules, transmitter location and power, target areas, postal addresses, phone/fax numbers, Web sites, social network pages, e-mail addresses as well as QSL policy info. The schedules are valid during B21 broadcasting season.

This edition is the first to contain the "Pirate Broadcasting" section. It features the unlicensed stations that regularly transmit in Russian on MW and SW bands.

The "Internet Broadcasting" section contains information on Internet broadcasting of 20 stations from 15 countries.

In the historical section the retrospective journey into the Trans World Radio history is continued.

The Handbook is exclusively in Russian and distributed as a hard copy only. Its volume is 64 pages of A5 size. Purchase requests and questions are to be addressed to St. Petersburg DX Club by e-mail to dxspb@nrec.spb.ru.

The price is 6 EUR or 7 USD (including delivery by registered mail) by PayPal (via alex@nrec.spb.ru or dxspb@nrec.spb.ru).

Delta Radio International next broadcasts

We will be on air

31-12 - 2021
1-1 - 2022
2-1 - 2022

then in the new year we will change at least two things:
- new frequency testings on 41mb, 7340 kHz
- a new transmitter for 6020 kHz with more carrier power!

Happy New Year by listening to DRI - that on-line radio station interacting with its audience!

Glenn Hauser logs December 26-27, 2021

** CUBA. 15230, Dec 26 at 2325, RHC is S9 but just barely modulated in Brazuguese. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** GERMANY [and non]. P.P.S. to the Gruss an Bord saga, in the WOR iog: ``WRMI initially went to music after an ID at 2100 UT but they joined the Gruss an Bord church service some minutes later. WRMI carried the whole last hour and at least the beginning of the news bulletin/program starting at 2200. Could only listen for a minute past 22:00 as the Christmas Eve dinner was on the table. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. -- Richard Langley``

``No such shortwave relay between 2100 and 2200 was booked at all. I they did it for the reasons I suspect: I doubt that it saved anything.

Anyway, I meanwhile got it confirmed that indeed in the old format until last year the last round of recorded greetings went out via NDR Info Spezial only. And the accidental shortwave relay of the children`s programming is particularly ironic: Until last year it was part of the FM program schedule and then thrown out there as part of the reformatting.

Their farewell from FM was a masterpiece of the genre to spice children`s programming with satire and sarcasm for adults. Those who understand German should not miss it, it's a miracle that no one did prevent it from being broadcast.

** ITALY. 207 kHz, Dec 26 at 2103.7 tune-in via Noale SDR, immediately hear S S S, 3 Morse dots repeated several times, then long talk in Italian, unreadable. It`s S6 with fast SAH, Iceland? Carrier offset up to 1 Hz minus. So AM Italia is still commemorating the Marconi anniversary, a biweek after the original date December 12 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** PERU [and non]. 4808.81V, Dec 27 at 0025, Santiago, Chile SDR lox onto a JBA carrier here, after Lúcio Otávio Bobrowiec, Brasil tipped the WOR iog: ``Hi all. R. Logos is on at 0005 UT on 4808 (to avoid noise on 4810). Religious music. 73 Lucio Brasil``

My recheck via same SDR at 0148 finds it on 4808.83V. Meanwhile, direct at 0127, the only carrier I can detect is very close to 4810.00. There is no longer any other known broadcaster, like India, around 4810. The noise is this per EiBi: ``4810.1 0000-2400 Martinique FUF French Navy STANAG F Car u`` but the bulk of it is above 4811. At 0155 I check another SDR, Brasília #1, and hear S3/S5 the religious music past 0202, no ID break, but displays only ~5 Hz below 4810.000. Must listen in LSB to avoid the STANAG (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2118 monitoring: as usual I zzz thru the Sun Dec 26 airing at 1330 on WMRI Europe via Channel 292, Germany. Did anyone hear it?

Confirmed Sunday December 26 from 2100.7 on IRRS Shortwave via AM Italia, 918 kHz, S9+19 into nearby Noale SDR. Way over interference.

Also confirmed Sun Dec 26 at 2341, the 2330 on WRMIs, 5950 S9+25 into Knoxville SDR, 9955 S9+10 and much less loud with some jamming; and still no signal on 4980.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 27 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, S9+20 to Missouri SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 27 at 0130 on WRMI 9395, S9/+10 direct.

Also confirmed UT Monday December 27 at 0230 on WRN N America webcast

Also confirmed UT Monday December 27 at 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 6160-, minus 55 Hz offset at Maryland SDR = 6159.945, S5-S6. Just before 0429, my final words after ``concluding ----`` chopped off for HRI to start. What`s the big hurry??? At least no RHC ACI tonight since it`s on 9700 instead of 6165, but from *0430 HRI gets ACI from NHK Russian via Nauen, Germany. NHK is scheduled on 6165 until 0500* and again *0600-0630 in Arabic via France. Next WORs:

2330 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [jammed?]
1030 UT Wednesday WRMI 5850 to NW
2200 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0130 UT Thursday WRMI 5010 to S

SAQ new test december 27

SAQ is testing on December 27th

A unique opportunity to receive SAQ has emerged!
Eventhough the Alexanderson alternator from 1924 did perform well on Christmas Eve morning on Dec 24th, we would like to learn more about how to tune the transmitter optimally.

So, on December 27th, SAQ will be on air again, for shorter periods of time, between 10:00 – 12:00 CET (09:00 – 11:00 UTC) performing some tuning tests.

Your comments are welcome to info@alexander.n.se

Glenn Hauser logs December 25-26, 2021

** BRAZIL. 9666.388, Dec 26 at 0711, R. Voz Missionária, music could be secular, S4/S5. Dec 24 it was at .385, so in 48 hours it drifted up only 3 Hz, contrary to my calculation based on previous bimonth averaging 4.8 Hz per day. We`ll see how it average out over a week or so (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CANADA. 362 MCW kHz, Dec 26 at 0725 UT, dash and SB, 500 watt NDB at Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

300 MCW kHz, Dec 26 at 0728 UT, dash and YIV, 500 watt NDB at Island Lake, Manitoba, almost 54 degrees N latitude. Two of the less common Canux; unlike regulars I seldom relog, YXL 346 Sioux Lookout, and always strongest WG 248 Winnipeg (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 13740, Dec 25 at 2308, S9+40 of dead air from RHC, same with some hum on 15230, S9+5. Spanish succeeds but suptorted on 15370, S9/+20. Something`s always wrong at RHC. But 13650 CRI ``Portuguese`` of Chinese music only is VG S9+30 way over the Japan CCI (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 12000, Dec 26 at 0704, RHC English S6/S8, sufficient, as 2 x 6000 which is S9+10/20. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 9700, Dec 26 at 0709, RHC still on here instead of 6165 and in Spanish instead of English, S5/S7. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. RF 25, 9-2, KWTV news playback Dec 25 about another sound & light show home, ``The Lights on Rockwood`` in Edmond; glimpse of 88.3 sign for FM frequency. Continues until 12/31 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 12030, Dec 25 at 1610, REE with ``Jingle Bells Rock`` in English, during Spanish program; 1612 introducing a Boston Pops medley; S8/9+10 much better off the back of ME beam, than on 9690 thisaway, LUHF/OWF trumping azimuth. REE really needs a Propagation 101 lesson (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY. 5960, Dec 25 at 2313, VOT English employing the just-barely-modulated transmitter yet S9/+25. Something`s always erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. In previous report about WOR, Friday Dec 24, I wrote wrong frequency for interference, 7290 instead of 7295. That portion repaired:

I had started listening to both about 1903, when 7290 seemed dead air at S8 with heavy ChiCom ACI de 7295 unless LSB-tuned; but 918 VG S9+18 with `Feature Story News`... (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2118 monitoring: confirmed Saturday December 25 at 1700 on WRN North America webcast.

Also confirmed starting at 2052 Sat Dec 25 the 2030v on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, Wentzville MO, VG S9+10 into nearby Warrenton SDR.

Also confirmed UT Sunday December 26 at 0030 on WRMI 5950, S9+20/30 direct, and about two words behind on WRMI 7730 S9/+30.

Note, from next week/month/year, the UT Sun 0030 WOR on 5950 is to be replaced by something else, which looks interesting: https://www.postcardpanorama.com/ About Tammy Walker: https://www.tdwalker.net/ Postcard Panorama: a brief introduxion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEehsYgrqaU Her previous programs on 5130, I was not aware of at the time: https://www.shortwavesshortpoems.com/

WOR 2118 also confirmed UT Sun Dec 26 at 0419 about 6 minutes into so started circa 0413 on WA0RCR, 1860 AM, VG S9+10 into Warrenton.

As usual slept thru the Sun Dec 26 1330 on WMRI Europe via Ch 292 Germany, 9670; anyone hear it? Next:

2100 UT Sunday IRRS 918-Italy
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 5950 to NNW
2330 UT Sunday WRMI 9955 [jammed?] to SSE
0030 UT Monday WRMI 7730 to WNW
0130 UT Monday WRMI 9395 to NNW
0400vUT Monday WBCQ 6160v Area 51 to WSW

** U S A. 15555-USB, Dec 25 at 1600, no ID from WJHR, but hymn about a garden, soon gospel huxter referencing Mark IX, S7-S4, so fairly good now. I sometimes hear traces, usually nothing at all. Also Dec 26 at 1609, all too brief piano music before back to g.h., S9 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [non]. 11610, Dec 25 at 1607, talk in unknown language, S9-S5 with heavy flutter. Aoki shows VOA Somali via Woofferton UK at 1600-1800.

11830, Dec 25 at 1609, similar fluttery signal to 11610. That`s Deutsche Welle in Amharic via Issoudun, FRANCE at 1600-1700. Anyhow, the North Atlantic backward path is disturbed (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Dec 26 at 0715-0721: 549, 558, 612, 639, 684-2, *693, 747, 774-2,, 837-2, 846-TP, 855, 882-2, 909, 954, 999, 1044, 1053-2, 1089, 1107-2, 1215-2 kHz. *strongest. -2 means at least two carriers beating - some slow, some faster. Maybe I should time them and compare to mwoffsets (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Log in Friol, NW of Spain

Glenn Hauser logs December 24-25, 2021

** ALGERIA [non]. 6060, Dec 25 at 0430, Arabic talk with humbuzz, which the uninformed might assume is a messed-up FRANCE transmitter rather than CCI from Habana which is providing little programmatic modulation. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** BRAZIL. Calculating the creep rate upward of RVM, over a period of 62 days between my measurements, Oct 23 to Dec 24, the difference between 9666.086 and 9666.385 is 299 Hz, or 4.82 Hz/day or cycles per second per day, which also amounts to an acceleration. That is, if the creep be constant; and also note that at the .086 measurement it was unstable. If one were to remeasure it every 24 hours, it should ascend by almost 5 Hz each day, or 1 Hz every 4 hours and 48 minutes (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 9155, Dec 24 at 2319, Chinese S7/S9+10, CNR1 jammer on a 24h Sound of Hope frequency per Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 9710, Dec 24 at 2324, RHC Spanish is distorted and with heavy CCI adding up to S9. Commies vs Commies! since the otherstation is surely CNR1 until 2330 per Aoki; and CRI after 0000. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4747 & 4783 approx., Dec 25 at 0422, scratchy parasitic spurs out of 4765 R. Progreso which itself is suptorted vs CODAR. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [and non]. 6165, Dec 25 at 0431, RHC English is S9+10 here cozying up to the 6160 corpse of Brother HyStairical, and // equal strength but somewhat louder 6000; rather than alternate 9700 where a JBA carrier must be Turkey in the clear. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA [non]. 6030 & 7355 & 7435, Dec 25 at 0435, the uppers without much jamming with ``Blue Xmas`` in English, Elvis? R. Martí seems an Xmas hit-parade of yearsgoneby, then ``What Child Is This?`` in Spanish, Ricky Martin? I think the SS title is not ``¿Qué Niño Es? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** ETHIOPIA [and non]. 7110, Dec 25 at 0434, VP talk at S7-S9, R. Ethiopia. Neighbours: Eritrea JBA on 7140, no 7180; Sudan 7205 S8-S9 just barely modulated (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Dec 24 at 2323, REE in Spanish about Cristo; evidently blown away our token English semihour. Does Spain have a State Religion, you-know-what? Not a solid signal even here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U K. 5450-USB, Dec 25 at 0425, VOLMET by roboYL with Britishish accent, S7 vs S6 noise level. Some items are ``no information available`` instead of ``no report received`` at Trenton. Very hard to make out airport names but several are something-international. Sometimes ``her`` words overlap. This is as EiBi calls it, ``RAF Volmet Military 1`` from site ic in G-land, 24 hours. Encountered during a full 2000-7505 kHz bandscan with little of interest (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 486 kHz, Dec 25 at 0205 UT, I`m trying to hear the Fessenden special. Not reaching direct, nor two SDRs in northern NC, but yes, to another one at Bakersville which has 8 RX. It shows carrier offset of minus 95 to 101 Hz, i.e.. more like 485.9. Music at S5 vs a lot of noise, and robot YL IDs every few minutes, such as 0218, 0227, ``This is WI2XLQ, in Forest, Virginia, on 486 kHz``; long pause, O Holy Night and one or two other instrumental carols. Occasionally the YL is followed by an OM voice or by himself at 0258: ``glory to god in the highest, peace and goodwill toward men`` or something like that. Seems like a kind motto, but it`s both sexist and religionist. I have recorded and will probably feature ID on next WORLD OF RADIO.

Reminder, WI2XLQ schedule is 2000 UT Dec 24 to 2000 UT Dec 25, and again exactly one week later on NYE/NYD. More details in my previous report (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. P.S. to the Gruss an Bord saga; after I, et al. stopped listening, at 2127 UT: ``As far as I could tell using the U. Twente SD receiver, all the non-WRMI transmitters switched off, on or around 2100 UT. WRMI initially went to music after an ID at 2100 but they joined the Gruss and Bord church service some minutes later. -- Richard Langley`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. (7489.9v), UT Sat Dec 25 at 0103 on WBCQ webcast, SW not even checked, `AAAWWW` theme `WTO` is ending, immediately clear it`s live referring to Xmas cheer, Xmas even in Fla. About searchlight they illuminate for Xmas somehow forming a star in the sky. Webb space telescope to launch tomorrow [1220 UT from GUF]. 0112.5 music pause, ``O Holy Nite``. Angela is even more animated than usual, having imbibed `less wine than you think`, but yells more and more during the hour.

Important: WBCQ has a new general business phone number, also for call-ins: (207) 286-5483. No longer in use is 538-9180. Allan starts to explain why but Angela blox him.

At 0130 ``Uncle Bill in Chicago`` calls it [except he told me had really moved away from Chicago!], and replies to something A&A had mentioned, alleging that there was a 3-month shift in calendars, causing confusion about when Xmas really was, in March? I know this is wrong and at 0138 e-mail WBCQ and UB the following, but Allan never mentions it before program ends:

``NOT 3 months, only 11 days lost in calendar switch: A&A, There was NOT a 3-month change from Julian to Gregorian! Originally only 10 days; 11 days in the USA, etc., per https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/julian-gregorian-switch.html

Gregorian Calendar Introduction Worldwide
Year of Switch Country Days Removed
1582 France (most areas), Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain 10 days
1583 Austria, Germany (Catholic states) 10 days
1587 Hungary 10 days
1610 Germany (Prussia) 10 days
1700 Germany and Switzerland (Protestant areas) 10 days
1752 United States (most areas), Canada (most areas), United
Kingdom
(and colonies) 11 days
1872/1873 Japan 12 days
1916 Bulgaria 13 days
1918 Estonia, Russia 13 days
1923 Greece 13 days
1926/1927 Turkey 13 days

Note: The list only includes countries that officially used the Julian calendar before the Gregorian calendar was introduced; countries that switched from a different calendar system to the Gregorian calendar, such as Saudi Arabia in 2016, are excluded. In some cases, it shows a simplified version of events. Each country is listed by its current name, although its official name may have changed since the calendar reform.`` 73, Glenn Hauser

0139 starts to read from new Free Radio Weekly just in, but interrupted. Datestamp: 24 December, YOOLFASJC, 2021, from Studio 9 in Fla. 0140 interrupted by guy who put his dentures in, Carl in western Pennsylvania, and they agree on ``gotta get the buggers``.

0143 back to FRW. Only two logs of mine in this issue and he mentions both but without credit. He butchers the one about ``anti-Christ`` pirate YHWH, giving 1840 as a frequency instead of time, and lisdexicizes the real frequency as 11480 instead of 11840. He also doesn`t get it that this item is about YHWH NOT being heard for a month. May I suggest that people read exactly what I write to have a better chance of getting it right.

0147 they love the Trans-Siberian Orchestra -- so do I -- and play ``Carol of the Bells``, much like the World`s Last Chance theme, but they don`t draw the connexion. 0151 frequencies as 7490, 6160, 4790.

0156 some email. Mentions again as earlier that Angela has been horse-riding today. Evidently she does that a lot. 0159 prayer, 0200 dead air on this feed, 0201 abrupt JIP Hal Turner. John Carver`s version:

``Tonight's show started on time on 4790, 6160 and 7490 with 7490 having the best signal. Allan and Angela in the studio. Allan has fired up one of his famous search lights for Christmas Eve, representing the Christmas Star. Then some talk about the launch of the new space telescope tomorrow and what they hope to accomplish with it. Allan comments on how well Angela is lubricated this evening. Then he plays some music sent in by Ross from the Cape. Angela then sings a joke version of Jingle Bells. Allan read from a piece entitled The Real Meaning of Christmas.

Allan then announces a new phone number to call his show and someone uses it at 0131 to state that because of a change in calendars Christ was actually born in March. Allan then plays part of a tape that the gun toting preacher has sent them. Phone call at 0140 and after that Allan reads highlights from the newest Free Radio Weekly. At Angela's urging Allan plays a video at 0148. Shades of the old Trailer Trash Radio show. Playing films and videos over the radio! Reading of an email at 0157 and closing prayer at 0158. Program was off the air at 0200. John, Mid-North Indiana`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
