UZBEKISTAN / ARMENIA
Frequency intermodulations are always enlightening and tell-tale,
not only on Amateur radio BANDWATCH projects.

The use of the intermodulation 11590 kHz frequency
is very enlightening in time slot
13.00 to 13.08 UT from Tashkent UZB only,
S=9 strength of fundamental 11510 kHz.

The parallel transmission from the TAC-UZB location

show Tashkent UZB intermodulations on 11470 and 11590 kHz.

Suddenly 11590 kHz covered from 13.08 UT onwards on a much stronger
fundamental Yerevan Gavar Armenia outlet of S=9+30dB,
empty carrier started til 13.11 UT,
latter then when TWR South Asia interval signal started til 13.15 UT.

Glenn Hauser logs September 29-30, 2020

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 30 at 0312, anonymous mystery missionary station is on again, S8-S9+ via Bonaire SDR, signature carrier offset -5v Hz, with `Lecciones de la Historia`, one of their regular shows (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA, 5081, Sept 29 at 2344, spurblob with F# tone, out of RHC English 5040, and WTWW-2 is not on 5085 yet. Original simulcast on 7380 for Africa is still absent as has been for many weeks. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** MEXICO. 6185-, Sept 29 at 2337, no signal from XEPPM, which is normally running by 2300 and earlier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7570, Sept 29 at 2336, WRMI with non-TOMBS gospel huxter. I was wondering what the new program `Challenge`` is about this hour, and now we know (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. During Drumpf`s disastrous ``debate`` debacle with VP Biden, Sept 30 at 0142 UT, I make a quick scan of major MW signals and find quite a few of them carrying it, never synchronized with a TV channel I am comparing it to, but with some notable exceptions besides music, or sports-format outlets which could not be expected to cover this game. IDs are assumed from usual dominators:

580 WIBW, 680 KFEQ, 690 KGGF, 700 WLW, 740 KRMG, 750 WSB, 760 WJR, 770 KKOB/WABC?, 780 WBBM, 820 WBAP, 840 WHAS, 850 KOA, 870 WWL, 890 WLS, 1000 KTOK, 1040 WHO, 1080 KRLD, 1110 KFAB, 1120 KMOX, 1160 KSL, 1170 KFAQ, 1200 WOAI, 1480 KQAM.

NOT carrying it: 650 WSM music, 670 WSCR sports, 810 WHB, 860 KKOW music, 960 KGWA talk, 980 KMBZ talk, 1100 WTAM! even tho originating in Cleveland, 1500 KSTP sports, 1520 KOKC talk, 1530 WCKY, 1640 KZLS talk.

Oddities: 900 heard both in English and Spanish, apparently running translation -- XEW?? Not enough signal to tell, auroral? 720 WGN, 830 WCCO, 1510 WLAC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

Glenn Hauser logs September 28-29, 2020

** BRAZIL. 11780, Sept 28 at 2048, RNA at S4-S5 with music, distorted as usual. DRM promoters were in contact with someone who was going to notify the Rodeador engineer about this, which should not have been necessary and bodes ill for their handling of DRM (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Sept 29 at 1355: not even JBA WOOB carriers found in the 13s, 12s, 11s or 10s. Propagation continues degraded: K-index 3 at 1200 and 1500 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA? 4940, Sept 29 at 0110, anonymous mystery missionary station is on again for second night, S9 into TWR Bonaire SDR showing characteristic carrier offset varying slightly around -4.9 Hz, YL gospel huxtress in Spanish. 0200 now OM g.h. with never ID break, S9/+10, -4.9 Hz. For kix, I run a TDOA at 0206, using Bonaire and DR SDRs which come up with 15N/92W = San Pablo, SW Guatemala, west of Q-tenango! Later another run lands in Chile! 0326 now a hymn. 0328, auto-timecheck as 11:28, which is UT-4, now correct, for Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, DR, western Brasil, back to predication citing Lucas. 0439 still going with tropicalmusic; background music to talk before and after 0500 are Xmas carols, Venid, Fieles Todos, y Noche de Paz: `tisn`t the season. Back at 0250 checked 4940 direct and had a JBA signal, accompanied by weaker Spanish 2-way about 4941.75-USB, cambio (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Sept 29 at 0032, again no signal from R. Progreso --- but cuts on at *0032.7, S9+10/20 but just barely modulated. 0109 recheck now weaker S9 but more mod; can`t have everything. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 410-MCW kHz, Sept 29 at 0646 UT, ND beacon BA, which is 25 watts from Columbus - Clifford, Indiana. I was tuned to 408-USB (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 475-CW kHz, Sept 29 at 0650 UT, Dave Frantz`s BEACON at WWRB Manchester TN, very slow Morse loop starts out WWW rather than VVV, WA4SZE, also with COM. Fades down before can copy it all. This is the recent ``630-meter`` ham band, only 472-479 kHz and secondary to maritime, as explained at

http://www.arrl.org/news/fcc-proposes-to-permit-amateur-access-to-2200-and-630-meters (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2053 monitoring: local power failure, again at same transformer, Mon Sept 28 at 1718 UT prevented remote monitoring of 1801 UT on IRRS 7290 via Bulgaria; did anyone hear it?

Confirmed UT Tue Sept 29 at 0106 the 0100 on WRMI 7780, poor S9/+10 direct and undermodulated; 0122 check, NO signal unusually into UTwente, in degraded propagation, but VG S9+10 at Maine SDR.

Missed checking 0330 UT Tue Sept 29 on WRMI 5800; anyone hear it?
Next:
2100 UT Wednesday WBCQ 7490v to WSW
0100 UT Thursday  WRMI 7780 to NE

Full schedule including AM, FM, webcasts, satellite, podcasts: http://www.worldofradio.com/radioskd.html

Thanks this week for financial support from Gerald T Pollard, Raleigh NC, for a generous quarterly seasonal check on a US bank to Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702

Contributions may alternatively be sent via PayPal to woradio at yahoo.com - not necessarily US funds as PP will convert. (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7780, UT Tue Sept 29 at 0130, WRMI following WORLD OF RADIO I keep listening via Maine SDR, and instead of scheduled one of dozens of weekly repeats of `Wavescan` there is a strange show billed as ``the first shortwave broadcast of WVDC International, a pilot, hope you enjoy the music`` by announcer without a downunder accent; 0138 breaks for some SSTV. I remember the same anomaly from about 6 months ago during this semihour altho did not get a WVDC ID then. Nothing about it on WRMI website or FB. Now I go searching and find: https://chirpie2014.wixsite.com/wvdc which is orthographically challenged, and quote parts of it [sic]:

``WVDC --- G'day How Ya goin we are brodcastin from the USA hope you have fun cheers - Timmy H --- Best classic hits from USA Australia New Zealand and more on 100.7 FM and news on our live stream --- You may wonder How your supposed to here us ? you can here our classic hit station on 91.3 FM but not far its part 15 station --- can i here you out of our coverage area ? how to lession to us --- yes you can here our international station by stream and phone but we only do news on there and animal radio its 24/7 AT https://zeno.fm/WVDCradio OR BY phone broadcast at 1-667-930-9246``

However, no stream will play and number in the URL implies it originated in 2014y. But autolinx to current propagation info and weather in Auckland NZ. A really strange website. HP link to Spanish goes nowhere.

Area code 667 is around Baltimore, Maryland. WVDC is not an FCC callsign for any licensed AM or FM station. What could WVDC mean? An ARRL abbr. list shows: ``working voltage, direct current``

WVDC first aired on WRMI last March; and as a pilot may be an orphan
file which keeps on playing back, every week? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 7490v, UT Tue Sept 29 after 0000 on WBCQ I`m listening to `From the Isle of Music` with sufficient reception until it really drops out about 0032 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 29 at 0629: 621, 711, 774, 837, 846(TP), 882 kHz. Propagation remains degraded: K-index still 3 at 0600 after G1 storms with G2s predicted (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

This report dispatched at 1720 UT September 29

Wolfgang Bueschel observations

Re Yerevan Gavar Armenia, today Sept 29 - nothing heard of accompanied spurious signals so far.
Maybe a different TX unit at Gavar is in use today ?

Maybe extreme propagation condition happened yesterday Sept 28 ?

Highlights of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
21 - 27 September 2020

Solar activity was very low on 21-24 and 26-27 Sep. Solar activity
reached low levels on 25 Sep when Region 2773 (N28, L=083,
class/area=Bxo/10 on 23 Sep) produced a single C1 flare at 0038 UTC.
No Earth-directed CMEs were detected this period.

No proton events were observed at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached
high levels on 24-27 Sep. Normal to moderate flux levels were
observed throughout the remainder of the period.

Geomagnetic field activity reached G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) storm
levels on 27 Sep, with G1 (Minor) storm levels observed on 24-26
Sep, due to the influences of a pair of positive polarity coronal
hole/high speed streams. Active conditions were observed on 23 Sep.
Quiet and quiet to unsettled conditions prevailed throughout the
remainder of the week.

Forecast of Solar and Geomagnetic Activity
28 September - 24 October 2020

Solar activity is expected to be very low throughout the outlook
period.

No proton events are expected at geosynchronous orbit.

The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit is
expected to reach high levels on 28 Sep-10 Oct and 21-24 Oct. Normal
and normal to moderate flux levels are expected to persist
throughout the remainder of the outlook period.

Geomagnetic field activity is anticipated to reach G1-G2
(Minor-Moderate) storm levels on 28-29 Sep, with G1 (Minor) storm
levels likely on 30 Sep, and 21-23 Oct, due to CH HSS influence.
Active conditions are likely on 01, 20, and 24 Oct. Quiet and quiet
to unsettled conditions are expected to prevail throughout the
remainder of the period.

Glenn Hauser logs September 27-28, 2020

** CHINA. CNR1 jammer survey, Sept 28 at 1350: NONE found WOOB in the 14s, 13s, 12s, 11s or 10s. Propagation is degraded. WWV reported:

``Geophysical Alert Message
Solar-terrestrial indices for 27 September follow.
Solar flux 74 and estimated planetary A-index 24.
The estimated planetary K-index at 1500 UTC on 28 September was 4.
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been moderate.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level occurred.``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** COLOMBIA [and non]. Colombia? 4940 is back on --- The anonymous mystery missionary station is back on after missing since Sept 19 - 4940, synch carrier minus 5 or 6 Hz to Bonaire SDR, 0233 UT Sept 28, poor-fair S6-S7 with storm crashes. Typical programming of M&W chat, dramatization. About an hour earlier when I checked, it was not on but detected the -29 Hz carrier of R. San Antonio, Perú (Glenn Hauser, 0238 UT September 28, WOR iogroup) sparking others, below

Continued to be heard, but at 0329 dead air, still carrier at -3.5 Hz; 0336 suddenly resumes modulation, biblical dramatization, bit of music; but 0337 starts long-winded Spanish preacher, exactly the same recording I heard weeks ago UT Sept 9, soon after it first appeared: saying it`s 8th of April, he is restricted to house due to coronavirus, citing Isaiah chapters; still going past 0412, 0429.

Meanwhile I tried TDOA again, but could get only two SDRs to participate, Key West and Dominican Republic --- they came up with somewhere in the Caribbean north of Venezuela. Wouldn`t it be something if this 4940 thing really were on a boat?

Other reports following via HCDX:

``Manuel Méndez, Lugo, Spain --- COLOMBIA, 4940, new religious station, 0605-0645, 28-09, after days off, today on air again. First noticed by Glenn Hauser, heard here in Reinante, North West of Spain with Colombian songs and religious comments in Spanish. Very weak. 15321.``

``Manuel, thanks for your alert. Today the station was playing still at 1050. Time announcements remain strange. At 0756 they announced 4:04 local. At 0957 they played the national anthem of Colombia. After one week off air they perhaps changed their schedule. One thing which is still missing is an ID. Karel Honzik, Czechia``

``Good signal via TWR Bonaire SDR between 0430 and 1100 UT September 28 but from 1200 no signal on 4940 -- Ivo Ivanov``

Ivo, you heard no signal at 1200 probably because the daylight has already come to the transmitter area and the propagation disappeared. I heard the signal at 1050 but then I left the KiwiSDR receiver on Bonaire. The access is 180 minutes/day and my limit was over at that time. Karel`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 4765, Sept 28 at 0108, R. Progreso is AWOL again after having stayed back on for a few nights. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 5081 & 5122 approx., Sept 28 at 0111, distorted spurblobs out of 5040, now about 41 kHz intervals despite 5085 WTWW-2. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 15230, Sept 28 at 1345, zero signal from RHC here, while 15140 is S9, the SSOB by far and almost the OSOB. 15230 is supposedly scheduled 1200-1500 for western N America per EiBi, but when on is always much weaker than 15140 supposedly for S America. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 379-MCW kHz, Sept 27 at 0614 UT, ND beacon BRA, which is 400 watts from Asheville - Broad River NC. I was tuned to 377-USB. 379 normally occupied by much closer RUE, Russellville AR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 475-CW kHz, Sept 27 at 0629 UT, JBA very slow Morse as WA4SZE, maybe more in the loop but I stop once I have the call. It`s the BEACON by Dave Frantz, Manchester TN at the WWRB SW 5050 site. I tune across here almost every night, but last time heard this was May 31 and before that last December 10 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2053 monitoring: confirmed UT Monday September 28 at 0030 on WRMI 7730, VG direct.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 28 at 0145 the 0130 on WRMI 7780: VP S7 and noisy at UTwente, S9/+5 sufficient at Maine SDR; VP S9 and undermodulated direct; also VG on WRN webcast.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 28 at 0230 on WRMI 7780, good S9/+10 at Maine SDR; and on 5800 also S7-S9; and S8/S9+10 with some storm noise at Brasília SDR.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 28 from 0302:13 on Area 61 via WBCQ 6159.9, poor S5-S7 at Edinburgh IN SDR, -25 Hz carrier, after jazz running past 0300 and no ID between, but fadeout by 0307! Earlier at 0258, no signals into Rochester, Alexandria SDRs. Direct at 0323 still S5-S7 poor and measured 6159.898.

Also confirmed UT Mon Sept 28 at 0330 on WRMI 9955, S7-S8 mostly atop Cuban pulse jamming at Bonaire SDR, same at 0359 finish. Checked direct at 0325, 9955 had been JBA.

Propagation has been degraded, as WWV reported:
``Solar-terrestrial indices for 27 September follow.
Solar flux 74 and estimated planetary A-index 24.
The estimated planetary K-index at 0300 UTC on 28 September was 5.
Space weather for the past 24 hours has been moderate.
Geomagnetic storms reaching the G2 level occurred.`` Next:

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 27 at 0557-0604: 549, 558, 576, 603(2), 612*, 621, 639(2), 657, 684*(2), 693, 747, 774(2), 792, 801, 837, 846(TP), 855(2), 927, 936(2), 999, 1044, 1098, 1125(2), 1134, 1143, 1152, 1179, 1305(2), 1710(domestic). (2)= at least two beating; * = strongest: guessing about those: 612, Morocco 300 kW; 684, Spain 600 kW, and slightly off-frequency-minus compared to e.g. 693 carrier (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Atlantic JBA MW carrier search, Sept 28 at 0546: only a few much weaker than usual: 684, 711, 747(2), 774, 837, 846(TP), 891, 1125(2). Degraded propagation; WWV reported:
