** CUBA. 5040, Jan 21 at 0702, RHC English hour restarting, this-day-in-history about Guinea-Bissau; VG, like last night rather than off by 0700. But too sleepy to check whether it stayed later in this hour (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 11820, Jan 21 at 1428, as I am bandscanning up the 11 MHz band, weak music and talk, S5 --- it`s a second-order spur, 2 x 10 kHz below // RHC 11840 fundamental which is S9+40. First-order ones at plus and minus 10 kHz are always there, 11830 & 11850, today achieving S9+10 each. Matching +20 kHz on 11860 is S6, about equaling weak Yemen [non] signal, CCI! All-out, let`s go for plus and minus 30: JBA carriers on 11810 & 11870 could well be RHC too.
Strange that only 11840 exhibits such companionship, as same transmitter likely used on other frequencies at other dayparts. And these are at exact 10..00 kHz intervals, as if intentional, not random spurrage. O yes, adding to the mix is pulse jamming on 11845, years after Radio Martí quit ever using it (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA. 15574, 15507, 15438, 15303, 15235, 15167, 15100, 15032, 14961, Jan 21 at 1439 during `En Contacto`, indeed, RHC-FM spurs roughly on these center frequencies, at ~67-68 kHz intervals, and all except the lowest two capable of being heard more or less clearly with FM mode tuning, plus the constant F# tone, which can also be heard in AM; all out of the prolific 15370-AM transmitter (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CUBA [non]. 5980, Jan 21 at 0701, R. Martí still on here with jamming, unlike last night`s anomalies. 7355 & 7435 with jamming only; 6030 RM + jamming too (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** INDIA. 11560, Jan 21 at 1435, Bollywood music at S8-S4, certainly better than 9690 AIR GOS is doing. This one is AIR Pashto at 1415-1530, 500 kW, 312 degrees from Delhi-Kingsway, somewhat favorable azimuth for us beyond (also 1315-1415 in Dari). (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 5850, Sunday January 21 at 0707, WRMI is on tonight with preacher from Main Street Church of Christ about Acts and // 7730, both VG but modulation slightly distorted, from program source? Says he has 21 international radio broadcasts to all the Earth including multiple times to Africa; then referencing Galatians 3:16 (which is about the seeds of Abraham --- didn`t know about spermatozoa then). Skedgrid shows these two at 07-09 now on air Sun & Mon only, this hour being `Worship in Your Home`. Same 07-08 hour on Mon is labeled `Broad Spectrum Radio`, and it`s overdue for a new monthly edition, but nothing yet on BSR website since December`s Xmas music mashup.. `Shortwave Radiogram` also expects to radiate beeps on both, Mon at 0800-0830 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 7780, Jan 21 at 1524, poor signal from WRMI with the exuberant steel drum tune, i.e. World Music fill, and not Oldies which are not // this but // each other on 9395 & 9455. 15-16 UT on 7780 is scheduled Sundays only as `Yeshua Messiah Ministry`, which must be a no-show (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. From David Frantz, WWRB, at 1336 UT Jan 21: ``Greetings!! Our main transmitter went up in smoke. Hope to have it up today Sunday with all the cold weather then warming up. We think moisture got us.
We have many programmers that want to take advantage of our $25.00 airtime rate per hour. It is a great rate for 100,000 watts of transmitter power with frequencies that people can HEAR!
Most of my time now is giving flight training for instrument students. We have on site a full ILS, NDB, VOR DME aircraft approaches saving plenty of time and money for our students as no time is wasted getting vectored around and sequencing with other aircraft.
The shortwave station is nothing more than a hobby station now. We keep it on for various programmers on days that make sense``
Hi David, Many thanks for keeping us informed. Please continue to do so. I assume ``up in smoke`` was not literal, if you can have it back on today. What exactly happened to it? We were wondering why no signals heard last night (Glenn to Dave, via DXLD)
