Glenn Hauser logs December 21, 2017

** BIAFRA [non]. 11530, Dec 21 at 0524, no signal from R. Biafra via WRMI. Hard to be sure if due to propagation or not, but it seems both transmissions on 11530, at 05 and 19, are sporadic (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 1620, Dec 21 at 0118, R. Rebelde asserting thrice ``Armando y --- en Concierto!!``, good modulation and not // 5025 Rebelde. I suppose the MW outlet has switched to Rebelde FM feed as it often does (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 5025, Dec 21 at 0056, R. Rebelde is S9+30 but suppressed/distorted modulation. Wiggle that patchcord! Much like RHC 6000 right now. Something`s always wrong at RadioCuba (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 6000, Dec 21 at 0052, RHC in Spanish is S9+30 but just barely modulated & suptorted. Wiggle that patchcord! This is the `Mesa Redonda` hour supposed to be // 11950 only, but the latter is a JBA carrier. Something`s always wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CUBA. 15370, Dec 21 at 1458, RHC is S9+20/30 but fails to cover the band with filthy spurs. Something`s sometimes right at RHC. Shows they can clean up their act if they want to; or is it all random? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KIRITIMATI. 846, Dec 21 at 0528, JBA carrier from R. Kiribati, but not heard at next check 0611 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7390, Dec 21 at 1424, RNZI is still here, playing a song named/about the kiwi, including bird calls.
Male and female calls to each other included on this long roster:
http://www.doc.govt.nz/nature/native-animals/birds/bird-songs-and-calls/
They are not very musical and doubt what were in the song
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SAUDI ARABIA. 13710.014, Dec 21 at 1528, BSKSA Qur`an with reverb at S9+10 to S9, beautiful haunting music, not // 15434.985 other program in ME music, no buzz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 7570 // 7730, Dec 21 at 0109 via WRMI, I force myself to listen to TOM a few minutes for any reaxion to the latest developments. Still playing some very old clips of BS, and some voices so different I suspect they are someone else entirely. 0110 interrupted by the 84-year-old BS, raving about ``silencing this voice``, ``final judgment``, says 40 years since he started (broadcasting?), ``destruxion is being planned``. Seems he confuses his own self-destruxion with The End Times. Here`s another long story from the local press, via Mike Cooper:

WOMEN AT SOUTH CAROLINA RELIGIOUS COMPOUND SAY PREACHER SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THEM IN THE NAME OF GOD

11825 & 11580, Dec 21 at 1536, two regular Brother Scare WRMI frequencies are off the air. Normally weak 7780 also seems absent, but BS is still to be heard on WRMI`s main frequency 9955. Is The Overgroper being phased out rather than cut out immediately? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1909 monitoring: confirmed Wednesday December 20 at 2200 on WBCQ 7489.878v, fair S9+10 to S8; by 2228 varied down to 7489.860. Modulation seems a little lower on this backup transmitter, but sufficient. Not confirmed UT Thu Dec 21 at 0037, the 0030 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB: no signal (while 9370 WWRB is S9+12; 9265 WINB JBA carrier, but unusually, so is 9395 WRMI). Next:

** U S A. 12105, Dec 21 at 0113, Xmasmx is S7 with ``OC,AYF``, so WTWW-3 is still on, now // 5085 WTWW-2, but 5085 is timed running 14 seconds behind 12105, why? My earlier figure of 11 seconds delay on 9930 after 12105 was just an estimate, but this time I am watching my watch. 12105 JBA carrier still at 0524 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 17774.888, Dec 21 at 1524, JBA carrier from KVOH, off-frequency to low side for a change, about the same offset (112 Hz) as previously on the high side (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1540.12, Dec 21 at 0120 UT, KGBC Galveston is off-frequency again making big het with 1540.0 stations; sounds like Aretha, and shortly at 0123 UT, ``We`ve got you covered`` on 1540, naming three more suburbs. I wonder how many separate announcements they have like this? Houston has *lots* of suburbs, but how well 1540 & 1480 cover them, especially at night, is debatable, and Siga is obviously having a hard time drumming up business (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
