** INDIA. 9690, April 22 at 1327, pop music playing, must be runup to AIR,
perhaps from preceding Tibetan service feed intended for other frequencies. 1330
GOS sign-on in English, think she mentions 9690 & 13710 only, but 9690 too
poor at S4-S6, and 13710 inaudible (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** INDONESIA. 9525-, April 22 at 1328, no signal at all from VOI
amid scheduled English hour. What does Atsunori say? Agrees it`s missing today,
after logs every day previously this month for a triweek (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** ITALY [non]. 7730, UT Sunday April 23 at 0040,
Italian Shortwave Panorama, some rather routine SWBC logs, 0043 IBC Radio ID,
schedule including this broadcast on WRMI, then ham DX news from I2MQP Mario or
Gabriel. VG signal as usual on this QRG (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** NETHERLANDS [non]. 6145, UT Sunday April 23 at 0013, Mighty
KBC music, poor at S9 vs S8 line noise level. By 0054 it`s S9+25 --- or rather,
now the RHC open carrier is on, seeming to boost signal of understation, at
least quietening it. They are virtually zero-beat so not obvious what is
happening. I keep checking 6165 whether RHC repeats last week`s switch back
there avoiding KBC, but never shows, so maybe it was a fluke, and at 0104 KBC
has changed program to `The Giant Jukebox`.
Only at 0105 is there enough
undermodulation also from RHC English to detect on 6145 as // much louder 6000.
But KBC music modulation is still atop 6145 while its signal must be way under
the Cuban strength. One more week of this collision before KBC via GERMANY is
planned from May 7 to ascend to 9925 for summer (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTNING
DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6940-USB, April 23 at 0021, pirate music mixing
with CW and SSTV. 0028 retune to hear some fast CW and off. Logs here think
there were really two stations, the SSTV one IDing as Pee Wee:
(Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** NORTH AMERICA. 6880-AM, April 23 at
0023, lo-fi music at S9+5, 0024 announcement twice by M synth voice as ``---
something Radio Network`` with hotmail address, and then same by YL synth. 0050
still tinny music, long pauses. Another unreadable canned ID at 0102. These logs
say
it was Unknown Name Radio Network, heard by many from 2310, and by one with
carrier test(?) as early as 1630 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** OKLAHOMA. 596 kHz, April 22 at 1838 UT check, high noon, still
JBA carrier which I traced months ago to a spur out of 1640 KZLS, east of
Hennessey (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGESET)
** PERU. 5980, April
23 at 0016 and 0050, still not even a JBA carrier from R. Chaski, missing (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 17530, April 22 at 1826, VOA
in African English, good at S9 vs S5 local line noise level, must be Greenville,
not Vatican, as SSOB and virtually OSOB: 17855 Spain JBA carrier, 17640
Madagascar MWV zilch. A report about a diabetes study at McMaster University;
but I am apprehensive as it keeps going, too close to closing time for this
frequency, and sure enough, she is cut off at 1829:50 for DA and standard YDD
sign-off, totally uncalled for. BTW, 19m is also dead except for 15140 RHC
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1874

resume this weekend after maintenance break, and may well have, but still not
propagating over the daytime Germany-Holland path.

** U S
A. 9395, UT Sun April 23 at 0032, WRMI-6 with a song by Bing Crosby about the
holy child and the littlest angel of all, Xmas carol I am not familiar with, but
sorta sacred for a change, as Xmas Radio is daily(?) this hour. Whew,
overlapping next tune is jazzy version of `Santa Claus Is Coming To Town` (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 11580, Sat April 22 at 2227,
WRMI is replaying `Bye, bye, Sitkunai`, hour not ending, but amid so must have
started at 2200. Tnx to tip from roger, germany who was listening to System D.
Looks like additional unscheduled playbacks are coming, like so often happens
with special bookings (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A.
9265, Sat April 22 at 1328 on bandscan, I happen to hit WINB playing Star
Spangled Banner --- I periodically lament that no US SW station ever plays it at
s/on or s/off --- and this still doesn`t count, and in fact it`s worse, as WINB
merely uses it as background music, talking over it with sign-on. A little more
plays on, and I can tell the music is wowing --- probably from a very old
cartridge. Talking over our NA is tantamount to flag desecration (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 9930 & associated parasites,
9917.1 and 9942.9, Saturday April 22 at 1808, WTWW with `Theater Organ from the
Ozarx` in progress with Bob Heil ``tonight``, but cuts off air at 1812 as I am
listening in the yard on the PL-880. Back on a few minutes later when rechecked.
Runs until 1839 canned ID, into Amateur Radio Newsline #2060.
9930 &
5085, UT Sunday April 23 at 0012, neither WTWW-2 frequency is on, unlike a week
ago with 9930 past 0030. Still neither at 0050 check nor by 0107 when `Theater
Organ from the Ozarx` should have been airing when it`s really night (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 6935-LSB, April 23 at
0022, 2-way in Brazuguese amid the NAm pirates. Must be running considerable
power to make it here, unlike some S American broadcast pirates. 6950-USB also
with some 2-way in Spanish(?) at 0027 April 23 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 9350, April 23 at 0035, very poor music, goes off,
then similar heard on 9355, it goes off, then 9350 back on with JBA carrier.
Same station, pirate experimenting? Nothing scheduled on either at this hour per
Aoki (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
