** CHINA. 6035, Sept 21 at 1231, music S9 fading to S5, so hope it`s BBS Bhutan;
1233 seems to go to dead air, and slightly weaker, but maybe turned off leaving
the competitor, Voice of Shangri-La, a.k.a. Yunnan PBS, Kunming with lo
modulation? Perhaps Ron Howard will have sorted out which is which today. Yes!
He says both on 6035.0, BBS off shortly after 1200; Yunnan until 1319* with a
lot of dead air between unannounced western orchestral music.
BTW, WRTH
2016 page 157 does not show any China on 6035! Instead puts Yunnan PBS on 7210.
FWIW, latest Aoki of Sept 21 shows during this hour 1200-1300 daily:
6035
Bhutan BS Dzongkha 100 ND Thimphu BTN 2728N 08939E BBS
6035 PBS Yunnan
Vietnamese 50 147 Kunming CHN 2510N 10250E YNR
And 7210 is a different
language service, 20 kW from Kunming

** CHINA. 7325, Sept 21 at 1243, no CRI in Japanese here, just
some ``running water`` utebursts. Supposed to be on from 1000 until 1357 with a
site switch at 1257-1300. This would be good for Wantok Radio Light, Papua New
Guinea, but it`s been silent for months. 1330 recheck, something is now here,
presumably CRI. Could the earlier outage be some more scheduled maintenance for
a few weeks? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** JAPAN. 774, Sept
21 at 1155, JBA TP carriers led by this one from the NW, so NHK; also on 747,
693, 828, all of which are super-power NHK frequencies. Now I have audio on one
of them! 774 at 1200, clear timesignal ending with last pip at higher pitch and
resounding. 774 is JOUB, NHK-2 from Akita; all are 500 kW, except 828 only 300
kW. I used to get Osaka in the old days when it was still on 830 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** KOREA NORTH. 2850, Sept 21 at 1225,
orchestral music at S5-S3, the only 105-meter band broadcaster, KCBS P`yongyang.
I often have at least a carrier here, but better than usual today (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MADAGASCAR. 17640, Sept 20 circa 1830 check,
still no signal from MWV English hour of African Pathways Radio. What exactly is
the problem now making MWV so unreliable? If I ever hear any of their further
00-05 UT broadcasts on 9600, 9665, 6190, 6150 or 9480, I`ll let you know (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO. 660, Sept 21 at 1202, canned
YL ID for XEFZ, ABC Radio, Monterrey NL, and introducing `Las Noticias Como Son`
[son is a play on words]; 1203 live newscaster also mentioning FM 91.7. Neither
IRCA 2015 nor Cantú 2015 matches that or any FM with XEFZ 660; instead Cantú
showed the AM of 91.7 XHXL MTY is AM 1340. Rather than full-time duplication,
could be only this morning news block is matching among stations in the same
local cluster. Then he reminds us that mañana at 9:21 am Central Mexican Time
will be the ``equinoxio de verano`` --- oops, he means otoño. Time is correct =
1421 UT Sept 22 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO [and
non]. 800, Sept 21 at 1206 UT, nulling semi-local KQCV OKC gospel huxter as much
as possible, Spanish adstring is surely XEROK Ciudad Juárez, but still cannot
overcome 2.5 kW even at sunrise; makes SAH of 51/minute = 0.85 Hz. Rather KQCV
should be on night power of only 1 kW until 1215 UT in September (1230 UT in
October) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** RUSSIA. 7295, Sept
21 at 1224, again no signal at all from R. Sakha, but it`s still on the air
until 1300, say Ron Howard and his Japanese sources, just much weaker, perhaps
exchanging parameters (azimuth and/or transmitter power) with // 7345, which is
currently much stronger for them altho with CCCCCCI, and both Sakhas on the air
before 1000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** SOLOMON ISLANDS.
5020, Sept 21 at 1224, carrier is still on from SIBC. You never know when they
will be turning it off (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A.
WORLD OF RADIO 1843 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday Sept 20 at 2130 on WRMI,
15770, fair. Also confirmed Tue Sept 20 at 2330 on WBCQ, 9329.897-CUSB, S9+10.
(Missed checking Wed Sept 21 at 1315 on WRMI 9955!) Next:
Wed 2100 WBCQ
7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 9275, Sept 20 circa 1830 quick check, WMLK
still on, not yet broken down again, DEJOM quoting some scripture. Fair signal;
9265 WINB not on yet (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A.
1060+, Sept 20 at 0558 UT, praise music in Spanish about a mujer, from WSW
making fast SAH and I can tell this one is offset to the hi side of 1060; 0603
UT ID as ``KIJN, 1060 AM, Farwell, Texas, donde el espíritu [vive?]``. So just
as I suspected when hearing it a few hours earlier but definitely after sunset,
this 10 kW daytimer is once again running all-night. (With God on their side,
it`s fine to violate the Laws of Man! After all, they are doing it In Jesus`
Name.) But, really: WWJD??? 1060, Sept 21 at 0609 UT, 24 hours after last log,
there KIJN is again, same fast SAH and praise music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
UNIDENTIFIED. 990, Sept 21 at 1222 UT, Spanish station
discussing some event in El Paso, with person on phone ---- but there is no El
Paso/Juárez station on this frequency. Closest in Chihuahua, not very, is
Cuauhtémoc, closest in USA is Artesia NM, not SS. XECL in Mexicali really gets
out, so maybe this was it referring to a concert. Loops westward rather than
southward, too late for XET Monterrey (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
