Glenn Hauser logs January 10-11, 2015

** BRAZIL. 11746 & 11814, Jan 11 at 0158 check, no crackling spurs detectable from 11780.1 RNA/RNB which is extremely strong, so I venture to concede that they have finally been fixed ---- for now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** CHINA [and non]. 11960, Jan 11 at 0157, nice romantic song, fair with flutter, 0157 Chinese announcement in CNR1 declamatory style. Yes, Aoki shows the only 11960 station anywhere, anywhen is CNR1, 100 kW, 37 degrees USward from Beijing 572 site at 00-09 except the Tuesday siesta after 06.

15160, Jan 11 at 0213, vocal music with poor signal, not Spain which is long gone, and not Australia which has wisely shifted to 15150 for this season, // 17840, since it`s CRI Chinese now on 15160 per Aoki, 500 kW, 59 degrees from Jinhua 831 site also rather USward. At 0225 announcement and romantic song, fair with slow fades; 0230 sharp break for announcements, ads? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** EGYPT. 9965+, Jan 11 at 0200, R. Cairo is very poor, presumably Arabic; 9905 is very poor, dead air? 9860.0 is poor and JBM, presumably English. Same English sesquihour to us should be played with improved audibility on Global 24, 9395, later Sunday at 1300-1420 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE [and non] 9935, Jan 11 at 0159, Greek music poor but detectable in sideband splash from 9930 WTWW-2 which hasn`t quite QSYed yet. // 9420 which is fair-good. Only with BFO can I tell the 9935 is unstable, so I suppose it would be clearly motorboating without the ACI (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1110, Jan 11 at 0219, Spanish YL talk from E/W with KFAB nulled making a SAH of approx. 269/minute = 4.48 Hz, must be XEWR, R. Guadalupana, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, which IRCA lists as a 500-watt daytimer; but Cantú and WRTH 2015 say 1/0.5 kW. No US SS stations around here, but there is one further Mexican, XEVS in Hermosillo, 1/0.25 kW per Cantú (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1560, Jan 11 at 0227, Spanish gospel huxter dominating, phone number, and Radio Viva, Ciudad Juárez ID in passing, 0228 fuller ID with jingle,
http://radioviva.com.mx

However, 2014 IRCA Mexican Log has XEJPV with 1 kW daytime, slogan as Indie AM 15-60, tho format REL, which really doesn`t match. WRTH 2015 and Cantú have 1560 Juárez as 1 kW daytimer, XEJPV, Indie.

On Oct 8 as in DXLD 14-41, in another log I mentioned that ``Radio Viva`` used to be the slogan on 1560 Juárez. That refers to the 2013 IRCA Log. See also DXLD 14-24 for an ambiguous article about 1560 becoming ``Indie``, but really Juárez? Website I heard axually forwards to
http://radioviva.mx/ clearly Christian, and in the fine print abottom does show 1560 Juárez by this name, so apparently it`s back, or never left. Part of the 7-station group MegaRadio in CiJz which also includes 1110 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. Channel A2, NTSC, 55.25/59.75 MHz give or take, Jan 11 at 0300 UT I see traces of video by sporadic E. 6m map shows a few lines across southern US, northern Mexico, altho not N/S from there to here; 0318 peak fade-in CCI with some weak Spanish audio. There has been hardly any sporadic-E monitored here around winter`s minor ``peak`` despite many hours a day of snow on my channel 2 analog screen (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 7375, UT Sunday Jan 11 at 0152, JBA carrier at best from the Mighty [???] KBC via Nauen, GERMANY. Like last week, it just isn`t propagating during deep winter with lowest overnight MUFs across the North Atlantic path (assuming the transmissions are still going out normally). So no Forgotten Song to be heard. But Kraig Krist no doubt will have program #65 complete 2-hour audio up shortly at:
http://www.kg4lac.com/indexjs.min.htm
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6280-AM, Jan 11 at 0203 check, no signal from Station YHWH; last heard here Dec 15 on this frequency, and I don`t see *any* other reports of him since; gone for good? Last YHWH item in hfunderground.com was Dec 9 on same by Ron Howard (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1755 monitoring: confirmed UT Sunday Jan 11 at 0231:03 on KVOH, 9975, very good signal and sufficient modulation with some hum; following 0222 carrier, 0223 tone and more open carrier, 0225 music prélude, 0230 sign-on and program summary. Next:
Sun 2300 on WRMI 11580
Mon 0400 on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v-CUSB
Mon 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Tue 1200 on WRMI 9955
Wed 0401 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
Wed 0730 & 1530 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
Wed 1415 on WRMI 9955
Wed 2200 on WBCQ 7490v
Wed 2201 on Global 24 via WRMI 9395
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5109.68 approx., Jan 11 at 0205, WBCQ with unusually good signal rather than JBA here, bluegrass music. 0206 Allan Weiner addresses ``Ladies & Gentlemen``, a trademark of his, referring to 7415, so an old, old, playback, NBC chimes and melange of other sounds (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 12105, Jan 10 at 2211 check, WTWW-3 is off instead of Bibling Worldwide. It`s always something as one transmitter or another has issues for lack of proper maintenance. But WTWW-2 is on 9930 with rock music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1190, Jan 11 at 0218 UT, Rosary in English briefly overcomes the QRM, from NE/SW, so surely the recent acquisition by EWTN in Kansas City MO, KPHN, 5000/500 watts (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1220, Jan 11 at 0214 UT, I have a choice not of WHKW and XEB, but of an E/W station with local sports talk hosted by YL mentioning Senators and Christian Academy, during a live SBgame pause? And weaker from the N/S, South Asian music. The latter is surely KZEE Weatherford (Metroplex) TX, 1600/200 watts; the former, perpetual cheater WSLM Salem IN, 5000/82 watts. Its website shows plenty of sports but nothing specific about tonight, besides ``a little bit country, a little bit rock `n` roll``. Rather generic team names as above do exist in the area (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1240+, Jan 11 at 0216 UT, low audible heterodyne still here against the 1240.0 pileup, looping WNW/ESE hinting at Colorado or maybe Arkansas. Someone with tight selectivity and antenna aiming, but best of all proximity preferably in the daytime, might be able to pull an ID (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
