# SIDC Weekly bulletin on Solar and Geomagnetic activity #
#--------------------------------------------------------------------#
WEEK 547 from 2011 Jun 20
SOLAR ACTIVITY
--------------
Solar activity was rather low during the week, with a moderate flaring
activity. A remarkable long duration event occurred on June 21st in NOAA
AR 1236 near the central meridian. Peaking at 03:25 UT on that day, the
C7.7 flare was associated with a moderately fast CME (800-1000 km/s), which
was observed by the LASCO and COR2 coronagraphs.
GEOMAGNETIC ACTIVITY
--------------------
Geomagnetic activity was mostly quiet during the week, with a brief
period of active conditions at planetary levels, on June 22 (18-21UT)
and June 23 (0-6UT), due to a fast solar wind stream linked to a
coronal hole. No obvious geomagnetic impact was noticed due to the
CME of June 21st, despite a favorable position on the disk of
its source region, at the time of the eruption.
